Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 349: Chapter 304: Rise: 140

Song Chi’s advice had enlightened Zhou Yun.

Zhou Yun was never someone who would easily concede defeat, not to mention that she was a person who dreaded trouble.

She just didn’t want to let trivial troubles needlessly add to her worries, not bringing any benefits in return.

Why not just do things according to her own thoughts?

If she dislikes people with connections, then treat them with a normal attitude. In the end, the objective is to select a suitable male lead.

Secondly.

Since she was dissatisfied that the producer and director hadn’t been decided upon until now, why not raise the issue directly?

It’s not that she hadn’t brought it up before, but as soon as she revealed her standpoint, she got ”convinced” by Zheng Xiaowen.

Why get convinced?

Between her and Zheng Xiaowen, it was she who knew more about the production of film and television.

And it was Zheng Xiaowen who wanted this play to be shot.

Zhou Yun thought it through, realizing there was no need to compromise on a show she took on merely due to a sense of obligation.

After pondering over it in her heart, she called Zhou Lan.

”Sister Lan, tell He Yong and Zheng Xiaowen that before the male lead is decided, they must find a reliable, true producer for this project, and also, the selection of the director should be brought forward. They can’t always be so inactive; if they continue not to look for them, then I will,” she said.

Zhou Lan, on the other hand, didn’t express any surprise over this sudden call, calmly acknowledging it.

This, in turn, made Zhou Yun quite surprised, and she asked, ”Sister Lan, why are you so calm?”

Zhou Lan said, ”I had guessed you would eventually do this.”

”Ah?” Zhou Yun was staggered with shock.

Even she herself had not anticipated she would act like this; how was Sister Lan able to foresee it?

”Alright, I get what you mean. I’ll talk to them tomorrow,” Zhou Lan said, ”That’s it then, I’m hanging up now.”

At this moment, Zhou Yun suddenly heard the voice of a strange man coming from the other end of the line: ”I’m done washing.”

Zhou Yun’s eyes widened abruptly.

Zhou Lan’s voice suddenly became flustered, and she quickly said, ”I’ve got things to do here, hanging up,” not giving Zhou Yun the chance to say another word, and hung up the phone abruptly.

Zhou Yun: ”...”

She hadn’t expected to encounter such an event.

Since when did Zhou Lan have a man by her side?

The more she thought about it, the less she could resist, so she sent a message to Zhou Lan: Confess and you shall be shown leniency, resist and face strict punishment!

Zhou Lan didn’t reply.

Ignoring her.

Zhou Yun got excited, called Zheng Xiaojue, only to have Zheng Xiaojue directly reject her call. A short while later, after dilly-dallying, she sent a message: Sister Xiao Yun, I’m watching a movie with Brother Xiao Ze.

Zhou Yun: ??

hello?

So, was she the only lone soul this evening?

Zhou Yun suddenly felt a bit jealous, a bit annoyed.

Zhou Yun opened her chat window with Song Chi and sent a message: Unhappy.

Song Chi replied in a second: What’s wrong?

Zhou Yun said: I just realized that Sister Lan and Xiaoju have company tonight!

Song Chi: ... Are you implying that I’m not doing my job as a boyfriend?

Actually, Zhou Yun did harbor such thoughts, but of course, she wouldn’t admit it.

She said: I’m just frustrated that they have people around them and didn’t tell me.

Nonsense, who was obligated to tell her?

But she was saying this to Song Chi.

Anyway, it was just small talk.

Zhou Yun asked: Are you still on set?

Song Chi said: No, I’m at the hotel, reading the script.

Zhou Yun: So diligent.

Song Chi asked: Do you not have work tomorrow? You’re not sleeping this late.

Zhou Yun said: No, I have an appointment at the hair salon tomorrow.

Song Chi: Hair salon?

Zhou Yun: I’m learning how to wash hair. In ”Gentle Little Horse,” I’m going to play a shampoo girl.

Song Chi: Are you starting to shoot in October?

Zhou Yun said: Yeah, but this movie won’t take long to shoot, probably less than a month since I’m playing a minor role.

Song Chi said: Shen Yao’s comedic movie style is quite unique, enjoy it. His style, you won’t experience it on other sets.

Zhou Yun said: Yeah, I’ve encountered him before, and he seemed like a very approachable person.

Song Chi: On set, he is quite strict though, I heard he doesn’t acknowledge kinship when shooting.

Zhou Yun: Really? I never saw him as that strict.

Song Chi: Many people are like that, completely different in their private life compared to their work persona.

Zhou Yun said: You seem the same off-set as you are on-set.

Song Chi: That’s because it’s with you.

With just a simple sentence, Zhou Yun suddenly felt like she had taken a sweet sip of honey.

She didn’t know how to respond for a long time.

At this moment, Song Chi sent another message: The director is looking for me, I’ll disappear for a bit.

Zhou Yun then hurriedly said: Go do your thing, I’m going to sleep.

She lay in bed, but she was slow to fall asleep.

Song Chi always had the knack of stirring her emotions with just a few words, preventing her from calming down.

Zhou Yun couldn’t help but reminisce about the times she and Song Chi were filming on set. Come to think of it, Song Chi’s attitude towards her was indeed different from that towards others.

Song Chi was much more distant with others.

At the very least, Song Chi never shared with anyone else that when he was filming, he liked to walk around the set to familiarize himself with every detail. He used this method to enhance the trust in the entire filming environment and the story background, and also to smooth out the character’s logic and psychology through these external confirmations.

At that time, due to Song Chi’s presence, the nerves Zhou Yun felt during her first big production filming were greatly eased. Also, while filming ”Heart Inquiry,” Zhou Yun learned a lot from Song Chi. This experience provided her a pathway to gradually step into the character.

Every actor has their own way of familiarizing with and constructing a character. However, for someone new to the acting path like Zhou Yun, with no professional training from a university, it’s often unclear what to do, leading to complete confusion.

The method Song Chi taught Zhou Yun actually pointed her to a path so that when Zhou Yun was yet to carve her own, she wouldn’t be lost without direction.

Now no one would question that Zhou Yun was a talented actress.

But Zhou Yun was very clear that the first time she felt she could shape a character was with the role of Liu Rusu.

She was also looking forward to the airing of ”Heart Inquiry.”

...

The next day, bright and early, Zhou Yun showed up at Zhou Lan’s place.

In order not to alert the snake by hitting the grass, she didn’t inform Zhou Lan ahead of time; she wanted to see who that man at Zhou Lan’s house was.

But it was as if Zhou Lan had foreseen that Zhou Yun would do just that. When Zhou Yun arrived at her doorstep, Zhou Lan was sitting on the sofa in her pajamas, elegantly sipping coffee.

There was no trace of another person to be found in the home.
