Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 331: Chapter 286: Rise: 122

At this moment, someone suddenly said, ”Stop talking, Song Chi is coming.”

Song Chi, having finished getting styled, was walking over from the front.

A group of people immediately shut their mouths.

”Xiao Song, are you free tonight?”

As Song Chi walked past them, Fan Zhu took the initiative to ask.

Song Chi stopped and asked, ”Is there something you need, Sister Zhuzhu? I have an appointment to discuss some matters tonight.”

A look of disappointment crossed Fan Zhu’s face as she replied, ”It’s nothing. I was just thinking, if you’re free, we could have dinner together. We’ve all been filming together for so many days and haven’t really gathered together yet.”

Another person immediately nodded and said, ”Yeah, we haven’t had the chance to dine with Xiao Song yet.”

The two people who spoke were veteran actors; it was normal for them to call Song Chi ”Xiao Song.”

Others didn’t dare to make such a suggestion.

Let’s not talk about him being the male lead of this film. Given Song Chi’s current status, they couldn’t afford to joke around and act familiar like Fan Zhu.

Facing the two veterans, Song Chi smiled and said, ”I’m really sorry about tonight. I’ll check and see when I might be more free and treat everyone to a meal.”

”Hey, I’m looking forward to that! A meal treated by Song Chi - I’ve got to enjoy it well.”

Song Chi nodded in acknowledgment and left.

”Do you guys think, what kind of woman will end up marrying such an outstanding young man like Song Chi?” someone asked curiously, watching his silhouette disappear.

Fan Zhu said, ”Isn’t it said that he’s quite close with Zhou Yun? They’ve been in a relationship for a while now, right?”

”I don’t know if they’re dating. They have denied it several times. But Song Chi, throughout his career, never had any scandals. They say it’s easy for a woman to woo a man, Yu Sitian likes him so much that the whole industry knows, but he remains unmoved. Has Zhou Yun really won him over so easily?”

”Who knows? But from an image standpoint, he and Zhou Yun do seem like a well-matched couple in terms of talent and beauty.”

”Where is that a match? With Song Chi’s current status, the average popular female celebrity still can’t really measure up to him.”

”If even Zhou Yun isn’t good enough, then tell me, who is worthy?”

”Who knows?”

A few people gossiped and laughed together.

Fan Zhu stood among them, occasionally joining in with their laughter.

The conversations they were having sounded somewhat irritating to her.

What does it mean by even Zhou Yun isn’t worthy? Then who is worthy?

...

Song Chi didn’t have scenes to film that evening, so he had made arrangements to discuss business with Wu Chengbao.

Ever since Wu Chengbao became his agent and partner, many of his work matters had started progressing quickly.

The right people doing the right jobs. Song Chi felt the truth of this sentiment more deeply ever since starting his own agency.

With Wu Chengbao on board, Song Chi could extract himself from many day-to-day trivialities and focus on several core tasks. First, perform his main duties - acting. Second, decide whether the company’s projects in preparation should continue to be pushed forward and get the green light. Third, use his connections accumulated over the years to ensure the company’s projects run smoothly.

Because he had a meeting with Wu Chengbao, Song Chi had ordered takeout delivered to his room.

As soon as Wu Chengbao entered and saw the takeout, he frowned and said, ”I’ve told you before, to hire a caregiver to follow the crew to take care of your three meals a day. It’s healthier and more nutritious. Eating takeouts too often is not good.”

Song Chi replied, ”Usually, everyone eats together on set, and the crew hired a chef. If I bring a caretaker to make meals just for me, that would be too excessive. There’s no need for that.”

”Whatever makes you more comfortable,” said Wu Chengbao, who knew arguing was pointless and said no more.

Song Chi said, ”Tell me, what’s the issue with the drama ’Beauty Yu’?”

Wu Chengbao explained, ”The drama was given the green light because Teacher Qin Zhong agreed to act in it. But I just got news today that Teacher Qin has had a minor accident and fractured his leg. He’s in a cast and won’t be able to remove it for six months. If we stick to the original schedule, we definitely won’t be able to film and will have to replace him.”

Song Chi asked, ”What’s your opinion?”

Wu Chengbao shook his head, saying, ”If Teacher Qin doesn’t star in ’Beauty Yu’, frankly, I’m not too keen on moving forward with the project. Without a top-tier, highly renowned lead actor like Teacher Qin to feature the story of a fifty-year-old woman, no one would be interested.”

Song Chi nodded and suggested, ”What about postponing the start of shooting?”

”That would require rescheduling for all the other confirmed actors, which could mean significant losses,” said Wu Chengbao. ”This drama already had a modest budget, and with the adjustments, the costs would almost double.”

That presented a difficult decision.

After thinking it over, Song Chi said, ”At this point, finding someone to step in would not only be difficult in terms of finding willing actors but also, the results may not be very optimistic. I think we should postpone the shooting. After all, the drama centers around the character of Beauty Yu. If the schedules of the other actors don’t align after the adjustments, we can look for other actors.”

Wu Chengbao nodded in agreement.

”Alright, I understand.”

After discussing the serious matters, Wu Chengbao closed his laptop, smiled, and asked, ”You mentioned before that you plan to move in with Zhou Yun once she’s back from Venice. Have you decided on that?”

Song Chi curved his forefinger and rubbed his brow noncommittally.

”What’s up?”

”If you’ve decided, we need to prepare a PR strategy. We have to consider in advance how to handle it if the news of your cohabitation gets out. We need to be ready for such situations and not be caught off guard.”

Song Chi said, ”Go ahead with the preparation. It may not be about living together, but it could be other aspects that get exposed. After all, Xiao Yun and I are truly together now.”

Wu Chengbao furrowed his brow.

He scrutinized Song Chi carefully, confirming that the guy was indeed a bit proud and showing off with his tone.

”If you’re really together, what’s there to gloat about?”

Song Chi just shrugged, ”I’m not gloating.”

He raised his chin confidently, ”Where’s the gloating?”

”However—” Song Chi suddenly asked as if remembering something, ”If I’m not mistaken, you’re still single, right?”

Wu Chengbao: ”...”

”Eat slowly, I’m leaving.” Wu Chengbao got up to leave.

It’s better to come here less often; seeing this guy Song Chi is discouraging.

Song Chi: ”You’re not angry and storming off, are you?”

Without turning back, Wu Chengbao gave Song Chi the middle finger over his shoulder.

Song Chi: ”Hey, I didn’t mean it that way. Don’t be so sensitive.”

Wu Chengbao: ”Just eat.”
