Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 309: Chapter 271: Rising Phase: 107

”I mean, don’t sell yourself short, many people see how outstanding you are,” Chen Fusi said. ”By now, there must be more and more fans who like you for who you are.”

Zhou Yun smiled shyly with her head down.

”I’ll go see ’Life’ at its premiere,” Chen Fusi said. ”If you don’t mind, I’ll bring a few friends along.”

”Ah, sure, you’re welcome!” Zhou Yun nodded and said, ”Do you need me to arrange tickets for you?”

Chen Fusi smiled and said, ”No need for that, I should be able to handle a few tickets myself.”

To this day, Zhou Yun still didn’t know exactly what Chen Fusi did for a living.

All she knew was that he was a remarkable person and mysteriously well-connected, familiar with many influential figures.

Zhou Yun didn’t know which friends Chen Fusi planned to bring, but they were likely not just ordinary people.

At that moment, the waiter brought the pizza Zhou Yun had ordered.

Chen Fusi seemed to suddenly remember and said, ”Look at me, getting so caught up in our conversation that I forgot to order.”

Zhou Yun laughed and said, ”If you don’t mind, share mine. We can order more if it’s not enough.”

”Did you order any wine?” Chen Fusi asked.

Zhou Yun shook her head.

She didn’t drink when dining out alone.

”Let’s have some together,” suggested Chen Fusi.

Zhou Yun, perhaps in a good mood, happily nodded.

”Sure.”

There’s an old saying about finding familiar faces in a foreign land. Zhou Yun wasn’t sure if her relationship with Chen Fusi had reached the stage of ’familiar faces,’ but she didn’t have many people she felt close to or liked. She felt that if Chen Fusi hadn’t had feelings for her, she might have let her guard down more and deepened their friendship.

As a friend, Chen Fusi was someone who made her feel comfortable, comfort both in companionship and spirit.

Recalling more, she realized Chen Fusi never put undue pressure on her.

Aside from an initial impression of aloof superiority, every subsequent meeting and conversation with him was perfectly measured.

Curious, Zhou Yun asked, ”Mr. Chen, do you have business here?”

Chen Fusi replied, ”I can’t say just yet. I’ll tell you when it’s sorted.”

Zhou Yun nodded understandingly.

”A secret then? I understand.”

Chen Fusi asked, ”Is your mood still the same as before?”

”What?” Zhou Yun was taken aback.

Chen Fusi said, ”You told me before that you weren’t interested in dating.”

Zhou Yun’s heart skipped. A bit embarrassed, she bit her lip and said apologetically, ”Actually, I started dating someone recently.”

Chen Fusi raised his eyebrows in surprise, ”Who’s the lucky one?”

Zhou Yun shyly smiled and said, ”We haven’t gone public yet, only a few people know.”

Chen Fusi nodded, ”No problem, you can tell me when you’re ready.”

Zhou Yun looked at him apologetically and said, ”I’m sorry.”

”It’s okay, love is all about fate,” Chen Fusi was clearly a bit disappointed, but his gracious demeanor made Zhou Yun feel grateful.

Chen Fusi raised his glass, lightly clinking it with Zhou Yun’s.

”Did he come to Venice with you this time?” he asked.

Zhou Yun shook her head, ”He didn’t come.”

Chen Fusi put down his glass, shrugged, and said, ”I really want to fight him.”

Zhou Yun looked at him helplessly and said, ”Don’t be like that.”

”You know, I really like girls like you, and so far, no one has matched up to you as well as you do,” Chen Fusi said openly.

The restaurant lights were glaringly bright.

Zhou Yun, somewhat at a loss, stared back at Chen Fusi’s handsome features, wondering why his face seemed so innocent.

She said, ”Should I tell you that you’ll meet someone even more suited to you, or should I say sorry?”

Chen Fusi said, ”Let’s not say anything, just drink.”

He smiled, showing off a row of white teeth, ”You treating tonight is quite enough.”

Zhou Yun breathed a sigh of relief.

That was Chen Fusi maintaining his finesse.

”Anyway, we’ll still be friends in the future, and who knows, I might make a film or two. When I ask you, don’t refuse,” Chen Fusi said.

Zhou Yun laughed, ”I’m not foolish.”

With someone like Chen Fusi doing a movie, the team would definitely be top-notch.

Who would refuse such a movie team?

After dinner, the two strolled slowly, blending into the crowd, chatting deeply.

It was during these conversations that Zhou Yun realized Chen Fusi’s extensive knowledge of film. He must have consistently read and watched movies to talk so informatively about so many works.

”I do like these creative things, especially when I’m alone,” Chen Fusi said, ”I’ve heard you’re a great actress, and I’m really looking forward to your movie.”

Zhou Yun shyly smiled, lowering her head to adjust her hair, ”It’s not as exaggerated as you think; it’s just people’s praise. I know my limits; currently, I can only play roles I naturally resonate with. To truly craft a character completely unlike myself, I’m not there yet.”

”Crafting is technical work, but acting touches people ultimately because of something deeper,” Chen Fusi said, ”Many talented actors have that innate ability. Just by their saying a word or smiling, they possess a magical power that touches the heart. It’s truly a natural gift.”

Zhou Yun said, ”But really, whether you have that gift, and how much, is hard to know. I don’t even know for myself.”

”If you knew, you wouldn’t be able to touch people,” Chen Fusi stated.

”You’re more professional than me.”

The two exchanged smiles.

”It’s getting late, let’s head back,” Chen Fusi initiated, ”Where are you staying? I’ll escort you.”

Chen Fusi walked Zhou Yun back to her hotel, ”See you next time.”

Zhou Yun nodded with a smile.

”Meeting you today made me very happy.”

”As long as you’re happy,” Chen Fusi said. ”I was worried you might not be.”

”How could I not be?” Zhou Yun said. ”I’ve always believed that we can be good friends.”

Chen Fusi remarked, ”Look at that eloquence.”

”Ah well, enough talk, I’m off. You should head back too,” Zhou Yun waved her hands and walked towards the hotel entrance.

Chen Fusi stood watching her enter the hotel before he too departed.

On a foreign night, the air was filled with relaxed laughter and chatter. The upcoming film festival drew visitors from all places; they met, spoke briefly, and then parted ways. Some people, like ships that pass in the night, even if frequently seen, remain distant acquaintances. But these fleeting encounters are still worth remembering.
