Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 310: Chapter 272: On the Rise: 108

The next day, Zhou Yun met with the people from VX.

Zheng Xiaowen, as the founder of the VX brand, enthusiastically introduced Zhou Yun to the person in charge of the Europe Region.

Although Zhou Yun was not the global spokesperson, she had recently been promoted as the spokesperson for China. The Europe Region side had already seen Zhou Yun’s information, especially since they knew that her first starring role in a film had been shortlisted for the Venice International Film Festival. This credential was indeed very eye-catching.

The person in charge of the Europe Region personally received Zhou Yun, showed her around a bit, and after Zheng Xiaowen finally arrived at noon, they had lunch together, rested a bit, and began trying on dresses in the afternoon.

The dress had already been tried on many times and the details had been adjusted many times as well.

The main focus for the afternoon was to determine which gown to wear for the opening ceremony red carpet of the film festival, colloquially known as the ”battle robe.”

After a round of trials, Zhou Yun, Zhou Lan, and Zheng Xiaowen didn’t quite agree.

”A lot of people have been asking me how Xiao Yun is going to dress,” Zheng Xiaowen said with a laugh, raising her hand to wipe her forehead. ”The attention on this red carpet is too high; many domestic media have already put out headlines for the ’Red Carpet PK of China’s Three Top Female Celebrities’, analyzing the style Xiao Yun might present on the red carpet and even listing her past red carpet looks.”

Zhou Lan said, ”Xiao Yun’s past red carpet styles have never been a miss, and there have been a few classic looks. That’s exactly why this one is especially important, we can’t afford a mistake.”

Zhou Yun herself tended to favor a sea-blue gown which was more in line with a gentle and ladylike image. She felt that this look closely resembled the image of the female protagonist in ”Life.”

However, Zhou Lan felt this look was not ”eye-catching” enough and merely stayed at the level of ”ordinary good-looking.”

Zheng Xiaowen, on the other hand, thought that probably fifty percent of the female celebrities on the red carpet would dress like this, relying solely on Zhou Yun’s physical features to stand out. As an Asian, generally not the main focus of media attention, this was actually a disadvantage.

”This sea blue mermaid dress,” Zheng Xiaowen said, ”I think Xiao Yun can wear it on the red carpet premiere of ’Life.’ When I designed this dress, I was also inspired by this movie, to create a mermaid look for Xiao Yun. With this dress, she would look very beautiful. The red carpet premiere of ’Life’ belongs to Xiao Yun, the focus will naturally be on her, and the effect will be a bit better.”

Zheng Xiaowen leaned towards having Zhou Yun choose a dark red and gold-burnished dress, which had an overall brighter and more vibrant effect.

”This look indeed leaves a more profound impression; however, if Xiao Yun appears too radiant for her first appearance, won’t it seem too aggressive?” Zhou Lan expressed her concern. ”Plus, Xiao Yun is only twenty-three years old. I think this outfit could be reserved for the Chinese Film Night, where its glamour would be further enhanced by the evening lights.”

Zheng Xiaowen nodded and said, ”You’re right, this outfit should be worn at Chinese Film Night.”

Zhou Yun said with a smile, ”Now that you two have decided when these two dresses will be worn, which one shall I wear for the film festival’s opening ceremony red carpet? Isn’t that what we’re here to discuss today?”

Zheng Xiaowen looked around her studio at the gowns that were hung all around and displayed before them.

Ten gowns, all hand-crafted by Zheng Xiaowen and her team.

Each was of a different style.

But that’s how clothes are — there’s never any one garment that’s suitable for all occasions.

”How about this one?” Zhou Yun asked, pointing to another mermaid gown.

”I really like this one,” Zhou Lan nodded, ”but it is a bit risky.”

”It’s not too bad; it’s just backless,” Zhou Yun said, ”When I tried it earlier, both of your expressions were quite astonished. Why do both of you seem to overlook this one?”

”We both thought you didn’t like it, as you never wear such revealing clothes,” Zhou Lan said helplessly. ”A strapless and backless mermaid gown indeed looks good, and you were stunning when you wore it, but the issue is that it’s too revealing, and we thought you’d reject it.”

Zhou Yun replied, ”Who would refuse something that looks good? I just can’t accept sheer dresses.”

”I also think this one is good,” Zheng Xiaowen said, ”Xiao Yun has a very slender figure, and wearing this mermaid gown would highlight all the advantages of her body proportions. Exposing the back gives a bit of demure sexiness when viewed from the side. But this dress is very selective; Xiao Yun’s body and appearance are no issue, but the reason I didn’t specifically recommend this one is that I worried it might give you a psychological burden. Once there’s a burden, you would appear stiff; if you’re stiff on the red carpet, no matter how beautiful you look, it doesn’t come off as confident, and it seems like you don’t command a strong presence.”

Zhou Yun thought for a moment, looked at Zhou Lan, and said, ”Sister Lan, what do you think about me wearing this dress?”

”It’s very beautiful and sexy,” Zhou Lan said. ”As long as you don’t have a psychological burden.”

”Alright, then let’s go with this one,” Zhou Yun said. ”I can handle it.”

Zhou Yun put it on once again.

To match the dress, she changed into over twenty pairs of high heels before finally choosing a pair.

After the fitting, Zhou Yun was ready to head back to the hotel with Zhou Lan.

Director Wen Bing and the production company staff had already checked into the hotel. She had arranged to have dinner with them.

Walking along the corridor, where Europeans were coming and going, she and Zhou Lan, who were two typically Asian-looking girls, were very conspicuous.

Zhou Lan said, ”It’s more comfortable to stay in China. It feels unfamiliar to be here.”

”I feel that way too,” Zhou Yun agreed with a nod.

”Don’t feel that way just yet. I hope you can star in more international blockbusters in the future,” Zhou Lan said. ”Especially Hollywood, they hold the reins over the global film market. If you can break into their A-list productions, it would greatly benefit your career. Your career shouldn’t just be confined to China.”

”Okay, okay, it’s time again for Sister Lan to sell me dreams,” Zhou Yun teased.

Zhou Lan rolled her eyes and said, ”I’m being serious with you. The roles of extras are meaningless, but good roles, especially under the current circumstances, suitable for Asians, are becoming more abundant.”

”Alright, I’ll work hard.”

”You have to work hard. I heard that Yu Sitian has taken the lead role in a European arthouse film,” Zhou Lan said. ”Many of your competitors are making moves.”

Zhou Yun revealed an incredulous expression, asking, ”Since when has Yu Sitian become my competitor?”

”If you’re mainly headed down the film route in the future, she’ll inevitably be your competitor,” Zhou Lan said seriously. ”Among the younger generation of actresses, her achievements in films may not be the best, but no one can match her when it comes to film resources.”
