Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 344: Chapter 299: Rising Phase: 135

”Wan Zhiliang barely spoke throughout the whole thing.”

On the way back, Zhou Lan said.

Zhou Yun nodded and said, ”He basically just responded with one or two sentences.”

”It seems that the rumors in the industry are true. Everyone says that the director is just a tool for Shen Yao to make movies, and Shen Yao is the actual director,” Zhou Lan said with a laugh.

Zhou Yun: ”As long as the final product is good, it doesn’t matter if the director is a tool or not.”

Zhou Lan looked at Zhou Yun in surprise and said, ”Have you noticed? Your expectations for the drama are getting higher. Everything is based on how good the drama is.”

After hearing Zhou Lan’s words, Zhou Yun reacted, laughed, and said, ”It seems it really is like that. Was it not like this before?”

”You wouldn’t have said something like that before.”

Before, Zhou Yun always considered herself a newbie, humble and cautious. When meeting directors and big shots like Shen Yao, she always kept a low profile.

She had high standards for acting and even higher demands on herself, but she wouldn’t directly say that having a good drama was the standard.

But at some point, she gained confidence, a confidence to emphasize the quality of the drama.

Zhou Lan: ”Don’t forget, the costume drama we are creating with VX, the casting for the male lead, I plan to organize a session at the end of this month.”

”So soon?”

”You don’t have anything else in September anyway,” Zhou Lan said.

”The script isn’t even out yet.”

”But we’ve already established what we want in a male lead, right? Young, healthy, handsome, energetic, preferably exercises regularly,” Zhou Lan said. ”We’ve already received a round of resumes, we’ll filter them out, pick some and organize a round of auditions.”

Zhou Yun said, ”Alright, I’ll leave it to your arrangement.”

Zhou Lan shook his head and said, ”You have no idea, I’ve received so many calls recently because of this drama, so many people asking me out for meals, you wouldn’t understand unless you experience it yourself, how many people are watching?”

Zhou Yun laughed and said, ”As you said, it’s better to have people watching. That’s a good thing.”

”A lot of people have greeted me; have you thought about how to handle it?” Zhou Lan asked.

Zhou Yun shook her head and said, ”I hadn’t thought about it, but ultimately it’s not up to us to decide who the male lead will be.”

”Don’t underestimate yourself. With your current influence, VX definitely will not disregard your opinion,” Zhou Lan said. ”Zheng Xiaowen even hinted a few days ago, asking if they could extend the endorsement contract to three years.”

Currently, Zhou Yun’s endorsement contract with VX was only for one year.

”Ah, we really should have finalized the script first,” she said.

Zhou Lan: ”Don’t fret about it. Since we previously agreed that this drama is to be tailored around the VX brand, we need to respect their opinions, Zheng Xiaowen and the others. If there are major issues with the script later on, we can raise our concerns then.”

”We can’t wait until the script is finished to raise concerns. I need to see the outline as soon as it’s out,” Zhou Yun said. ”We can’t end up with another idol drama.”

Based on the current film and TV market, costume dramas almost always turn into idol dramas.

Zhou Yun couldn’t help but worry.

The disaster of ’Eighth Heartbeat,’ she didn’t want it to happen again.

”Actually, have you considered Gu Huaichun?” Zhou Lan suddenly brought up the male lead of ’Eighth Heartbeat.’ ”If he could pair up with you again, the effect should also be good.”

Zhou Yun said: ”Let’s not use personal favors to bind him. The male lead’s role in this drama is clearly less than mine, and he is a young actor promoted by Yuehai. There’s no need for him to sacrifice himself.”
