Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 328: Chapter 283: Rise Phase: 119

”Welcome Xiaoxue, Xiaoxue, please say hello to our Yuehai Media audience!” Facing Wei Ru Xue, this interviewer’s attitude became much more relaxed.

”Hello everyone, I am Wei Ru Xue.”

”Why did Xiaoxue come to attend the ’Life’ premiere today?” Yet another question that leaves people not knowing how to respond properly.

Asking it, there always seems to be an implication of gate-crashing.

Wei Ru Xue said with a smile, ”Because I also happened to come for the opening ceremony of the film festival, and ’Life’ is one of our Chinese-language films, I, as a Chinese actress, would definitely want to come to give ’Life’ a good promotion if time permits.”

”Xiaoxue is really beautiful and kind-hearted.” The female reporter praised with an exaggerated, affected tone.

Song Chi even felt like he could see Wei Ru Xue’s face turning dark.

He chuckled and lowered his head.

Wei Ru Xue said, ”Not at all, today is not my main spotlight, don’t just compliment me, I’m going inside now, bye-bye.”

She waved her hand, smiled at the camera, and then left.

Clearly, she didn’t want to spend another second with this female interviewer.

The following guests were all movie people from other countries, including producers, directors, and actors.

But these people were not well-known in China, so neither the interview reporters nor the live host could recognize them or mention any notable points.

It wasn’t until Ning Yao appeared that the live broadcast regained its previous liveliness.

And that female reporter asked that question again: ”Ning Yao, why did you come to attend the ’Life’ premiere?”

Ning Yao was stunned, making a ”why are you asking me this question” expression in front of the female reporter, and said, ”Because they invited me to come.”

It seemed that the female reporter didn’t expect such a down-to-earth answer from Ning Yao.

”Haha, right.” The female reporter nodded, then asked, ”So, what are your expectations for this film?”

Ning Yao said, ”I never go watch movies with high expectations, the more expectations you have, the more likely you’ll be disappointed. It’s better to watch a movie with a normal mindset.”

She smiled.

”And, I’ve heard that Xiao Yun performed exceptionally well in this film, I’m quite curious about it,” Ning Yao said.

A male reporter who hadn’t been able to get a word in until now immediately took the hint and followed up: ”Xiao Yun, is that referring to Zhou Yun? Wow, so you and Zhou Yun are close?”

Ning Yao looked confused and said, ”Why can’t I have a good relationship with her?”

The male reporter said, ”Many people on the internet said that Zhou Yun’s red-carpet look outshone yours, aren’t you angry?”

Song Chi widened his eyes in disbelief.

He clenched his fists, wishing he could teleport behind the camera to grab that male reporter by his collar and tell him off, that if he doesn’t know how to speak, then it’s better not to speak at all.

Here came the exciting part, the female reporter actually rolled her eyes at the male reporter in front of the camera.

Song Chi thought to himself, how on earth did such ridiculous reporters get picked for such an important event?

Is Yuehai Media running out of people?

Ning Yao laughed heartily for a while before saying, ”Xiao Yun and I have no interest in who is outshining whom. She thinks I look better, I think she looks better. As for what you guys think, that’s your business and doesn’t concern us.”

Song Chi heaved a sigh of relief.

He was really worried just moments ago that Ning Yao would be provoked by that foolish male reporter.

Suddenly, a loud cheer erupted from the scene.

Ning Yao turned her head in surprise, then smiled and said to the camera, ”Xiao Yun and Director Wen are here, hurry up and film them.”

With that, she left.

From a distance, Song Chi saw a corner of an ocean blue dress on the small screen of his cellphone.

Then, the camera abruptly switched.

Zhou Yun appeared on the screen.

She was arm in arm with Director Wen Bing, gracefully acknowledging the reporters, the audience, and the movie fans on both sides with a generous and enchanting smile.

Yet another new look.

The sunlight fell on her, and her black hair was curled into big waves. Paired with the mermaid dress she wore, she looked just like the daughter of the sea.

Song Chi quickly took a screenshot.

This was the red carpet for the premiere of ”Life,” their home ground.

All the domestic media had taken their positions, focusing on today’s leading lady, their flashlights fiercely competing.

Zhou Yun almost stopped with every step, cooperating with each media outlet to capture her red carpet moment.

This time, there was no flying kiss like at the opening ceremony. She was more serene and restrained, her eyes and face radiating a host-like generosity and confidence.

She waved her hand to greet, and even her jawline was elegant.

Song Chi watched somewhat transfixed, to the point that he didn’t even notice Zhang Cong approaching him.

”Brother Chi, you’re so captivated. The director is calling for you over there,” said Zhang Cong.

Song Chi responded with an ”Oh,” saying, ”Let’s head over then.”

Though he said this, his eyes were still glued to his cellphone screen.

He walked back with his cellphone in hand.

He didn’t exit the live stream until he reached the set.

In the end, he never saw Zhou Yun’s interview.

Song Chi knew that he could watch the replay later, but if possible, he would have preferred to watch the live stream.

Not anymore, though.

Of course, he could ask the director for a thirty-minute break to watch the live stream in its entirety. But Song Chi wasn’t the type of actor who would delay the progress of the entire crew for his own personal matters, even with the status he held today, where no one would say a thing against it. Precisely because of this, Song Chi was even more strict with himself about not enjoying any special privileges. His enjoyment was possible, but it would surely cause inconvenience to others.

Song Chi continued filming until the sun went down.

Only when it was time to switch to the night scenes did he get a short break to have lunch.

After finishing the scene, the first thing he did was to ask Zhang Cong for his cellphone.

”How’s the reception for ’Life?’ Is it out?” he asked.

Zhang Cong replied, ”Five domestic media agencies that attended the screening have already published their reviews, and the reception is very good. I’ve sent you screenshots on WeChat.”

Song Chi unlocked his cellphone, starting with the feedback from the domestic media.

Media A: ”I finally understand why this movie was selected for the Horizons Unit. Treating the camera as the boyfriend’s perspective to film the girlfriend in one’s memories is something only a bold newbie director like Wen Bing would dare to do, filming it like breathing, rising and falling with the rhythm. Also, I must seriously say that Zhou Yun is an amazing Actress! Her debut with ’Eighth Heartbeat’ is truly a pity!”

Media B: ”The story is actually commonplace, and so-called innovation is just a new spin on an old bottle, without any substantive revolution. But Wen Bing is a director who excels at capturing visuals, well-deserved of his background in commercial directing. The film’s visuals and rhythm are completely intertwined. Between the boyfriend who only appears in voice-over and the female protagonist played by Zhou Yun, the film unfolds layer by layer the true reason behind their breakup, just like peeling an onion. Zhou Yun contributed a remarkable performance! I dare say, from now on, no one can criticize her acting skills anymore.”
