Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 315: Chapter 275: Rising Phase: 111_3

”If Wang Jing were half as good as you, I could have made her a star,” Zhou Lan said with a smile.

Zhou Yun frowned upon hearing this, asking, ”What happened to Wang Jing?”

Zhou Lan sighed helplessly and said, ”She went to audition, but they found her acting too stiff and rejected her.”

”There’s nothing that can be done then.”

”Alas, her acting isn’t bad, but with her current fame, that level of performance really can’t land her better roles.”

”Just let her start from supporting roles and gradually work her way up,” Zhou Yun said. ”If she really can’t handle it, and we force a leading role on her, it would only result in criticism from the audience.”

Zhou Lan replied, ”I was hoping to get her into a big director’s project for some experience, but it’s not so simple. She’s very ambitious and wouldn’t be satisfied with minor roles. I don’t want to upset her over these issues.”

”Does she throw tantrums? I feel like she’s quite humble and sensible,” Zhou Yun said.

Zhou Lan sighed and said, ”Madam, she’s humble and sensible in front of you and me, but you and she are my only two artists. If I keep assigning her small roles, won’t she start to resent it eventually?”

”Let’s walk on two paths simultaneously,” Zhou Yun suggested. ”Shoot one film with small roles that can hone her acting skills, and another that doesn’t require much skill—focusing on both commercial and quality aspects.”

”I contacted Gu Huaichun, who helped introduce me to He Chen,” Zhou Lan said. ”They are planning a spin-off of ’Dark Sky’ starring Gu Huaichun. I want Wang Jing to audition for that spin-off, maybe for the second female lead. I’ve read the script, and the role suits Wang Jing well. If it’s convenient, could you call Gu Huaichun? He’s now the male lead, popular, and influential. If he’s willing to help, getting Wang Jing the role shouldn’t be a problem.”

Zhou Yun thought for a moment and said, ”I’ll call him now.”

”It’s midnight over there; let’s wait till tomorrow,” Zhou Lan suggested. ”There’s no rush for this moment.”

”Sister Lan, Xiao Yun.” Suddenly, Ning Yao’s agent Luo Peiyao approached them.

Luo Peiyao is also a legendary agent, well-known in the entertainment industry.

She came with Ning Yao.

They had greeted each other earlier, and now she approached them again for an unknown reason.

Zhou Yun, surprised, greeted her, ”Sister Peiyao.”

Luo Peiyao smiled and said, ”You seem busy. I wanted to talk to you earlier, but kept getting interrupted. Are you free now?”

Zhou Lan said with a smile, ”Sister Peiyao, you’re not thinking of taking Xiao Yun away from me, are you?”

Luo Peiyao replied, ”I would like to, but I know neither of you would agree, so I’ll pass on doing that bad deed. What I actually want to talk about is a modern drama you are planning?”

Zhou Yun and Zhou Lan exchanged surprised looks.

The topic Luo Peiyao brought up was truly unexpected. They hadn’t imagined that even Luo Peiyao was paying attention to their project.

”Yes, Sister Peiyao, do you have someone to recommend?” Zhou Lan asked.

Luo Peiyao nodded and said, ”Actually, it’s a new artist I’ve just signed, who studied in Hong Kong and has just returned to the mainland. I heard you’re looking for a newcomer for this drama, so I came to recommend him. Here’s his basic information for you to review.”

She unexpectedly took out two resumes printed on hard cardstock from her purse and handed them to Zhou Yun and Zhou Lan.

”He really is a very promising young man.”

Zhou Lan weighed her words and said, ”Actually, this project is still in the planning phase, and we don’t have the final say in casting the male lead. I’ll keep his resume and add him to the audition list. When the time comes, we’ll have him audition.”

Luo Peiyao smiled and said, ”Thank you very much.”

Zhou Lan said, ”I didn’t expect our project to attract this much attention.”

”With Zhou Yun starring in the film, it’s natural that all agents with young male artists would be watching,” Luo Peiyao said. ”When the competition becomes fierce, we’ll have to ask for your special consideration.”

This was indeed an unexpected turn of events.

Zhou Yun had not anticipated that even Ning Yao’s agent, Luo Peiyao, would proactively come to recommend someone.
