Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 323: Chapter 278: Ascent Phase: 114

After the opening ceremony, Zhou Yun hurried back to the hotel non-stop.

The staff from the fashion magazine had already prepared everything at the hotel, so as soon as Zhou Yun returned, they helped her remove her makeup and hair, ready to apply a new look.

In the afternoon, Zhou Yun had to complete street photography and Vlog shooting with the fashion magazine.

Zheng Xiaojue had already changed out of the gown, back into jeans and a jacket.

Zhou Yun noticed that Zheng Xiaojue looked reluctant.

”What’s wrong, Xiaoju?” Zhou Yun asked.

Zheng Xiaojue was very honest and direct, saying, ”It’s my first time dressing up so beautifully, I don’t want to take it off.”

Today, Zheng Xiaojue had taken extra care to dress up, and Sister Lan even arranged for a makeup artist to do her makeup, indeed making her more beautiful than usual.

Zhou Yun could very well understand Zheng Xiaojue’s sentiments.

Zheng Xiaojue came from a small rural town, previously always bare-faced and not knowledgeable about makeup. After joining Chengqian Entertainment, the assistants attended classes, one of which emphasized that as assistants, they must be conscious of playing a supporting role, especially not to wear makeup when beside female celebrities.

Having the occasional chance to look and dress this beautifully and attend such a grand event, she was, of course, over the moon.

Zhou Yun told Zheng Xiaojue, ”There will be many more opportunities like this in the future. Do you like this dress? I’ll buy it for you as a gift.”

Upon hearing this, Zheng Xiaojue quickly shook her head and hands, saying, ”Sister Xiao Yun, there’s no need, I usually don’t have the chance to wear such clothes, I was just saying.”

”How could there be no chance in the future.” Zhou Yun said, ”I’m going to host parties myself, invite friends over to eat, play, aren’t you coming?”

Zheng Xiaojue stood there, speechless for a long time, foolishly gaping.

Zhou Yun smiled, took Zheng Xiaojue’s hand, and said, ”In my heart, you’re already my little sister, so it’s just a dress, you don’t have to be polite with me.”

Zheng Xiaojue uttered an ”oh”, opened her mouth and then closed it again, seemingly at a loss for words.

Sister Lan observed this scene and, with a playful yet dissatisfied tone, said, ”Hey hey hey, Miss Zhou Yun, you can’t be so biased. You can’t just give a dress to Xiaoju and not to me. I want one too, you’re buying mine as well.”

Zhou Yun: ”Sigh, buying two at once, my heart is bleeding.”

The person in charge from VX then laughed and said, ”Sister Xiao Yun, don’t bleed, President Zheng specifically mentioned that the dresses Sister Lan and Xiaoju wore suited them very well, she’s personally taken out her wallet to buy them, to give to both of them.”

”What?” Zhou Yun looked at the other person in surprise, ”Was I actually beaten to the punch by Sister Xiaowen?”

The person in charge from VX nodded, saying, ”Yes, President Zheng originally asked me to speak privately to Sister Lan and Xiaoju about this.”

Zhou Yun narrowed her eyes, ”Be honest, is it because President Zheng has taken a liking to my agent and my assistant, wanting to poach them? Is this digging under my feet right in front of me?”

The person in charge from VX laughed twice and said, ”I wouldn’t know about that. If President Zheng has such thoughts, you would have to ask her yourself.”

Amidst the banter, Sister Lan glanced at the time and said, ”Hurry up, we don’t want to run out of time.”

The stylists and makeup artists for this event were all arranged by the fashion magazine.

Clothes for the street photography were provided by eight different brands, involving apparel, jewelry, high heels, cosmetics, and accessories.

The big suite at the hotel was buzzing with people, but thankfully, it was organized chaos, not a complete mess like a marketplace.

Sister Lan confirmed there were no emergencies that needed her intervention. She heaved a sigh of relief, took out her phone, and habitually opened WeChat to see if there were any messages that required attention.

Of course, there’s no such thing on WeChat as having dealt with everything.

After a quick scan and seeing nothing that required immediate attention, Sister Lan dialed the PR team leader’s number.

”Have Zhou Yun’s red carpet photos been released by all the major domestic media?”

”They have all been released. A few of our usual critics still posted unflattering photos, specifically choosing those where Zhou Yun’s expression wasn’t good. However, these photos aren’t getting much traction. Xiao Yun’s red carpet look has won a lot of acclaim and positive reactions, it’s already climbed to number nine on Weibo’s trending topics, the momentum is strong, and the top influencers generally have a positive attitude.”

”Keep a close watch for the next few hours, report to me immediately if there’s any sign of negative rumors,” Sister Lan instructed, ”If a national social event occurs, immediately contact Weibo to pull Xiao Yun’s trending topic.”

”Understood.”

”You messaged me earlier about some media using titles like ’Chairman Wan Ke and Zhou Yun enthusiastically chat cheek-to-cheek.’ Go talk to these media, negotiate with them to change ’cheek-to-cheek chat’ to just ’enthusiastic chat,’” Sister Lan continued, ”Also, be very careful not to let any smearing occur. If there’s any attempt to use this to step on Ning Yao and Wei Ruxue, suppress it immediately. We also shouldn’t smear others, got it?”

”Got it,” the PR team leader replied. ”Sister Lan, rest assured, we’re keeping an eye on all this. I’ll communicate with the media about the ’cheek-to-cheek chat’ issue.”

”Good,” Sister Lan said after finishing her instructions, feeling somewhat relieved, and hung up the call.

Turning back, she saw Zhou Yun still applying makeup.

She scrolled through her contacts, found the fashion blogger Wei Kakaka’s number, and called.

”Sister Lan, aren’t you in Venice attending the opening ceremony? Why are you calling me?” Wei Kakaka asked with a laugh over the phone.

Sister Lan replied, ”Well, I have a favor to ask of you. You do that weekly best and worst dressed list with sharp commentary. So, what do you say, will our Xiao Yun make it onto your red list or the black list this time?”

Wei Kakaka laughed heartily, saying, ”Sister Lan, do you know how many people in our circle are praising Xiao Yun’s performance this time? Geez, why isn’t she this soaring when she’s on the red carpet at home? I’ve told you before, she’s too restrained when walking the red carpet. She needs to have the presence of owning the stage to look good. This time, she looked truly beautiful; she did Chinese fashion proud.”

”Hearing you say that puts my mind at ease,” Sister Lan laughed, ”However, because there were other female celebrities walking the red carpet this time, I need you to do me a favor. Can you avoid comparing Xiao Yun with the others in your commentary, is that okay?”

Wei Kakaka said in surprise, ”Sister Lan, aren’t you being too cautious? I have never gotten a call from an agent specifically instructing me not to smear others. But, don’t worry, I’m only interested in fashion and not in stirring up conflicts. If in the future Xiao Yun dresses poorly, I’ll still criticize her wholeheartedly.”

Sister Lan smiled, ”I know, I know, I just ask that you keep offering constructive feedback on Xiao Yun’s styles.”
