Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 338: Chapter 293: On the Rise: 129

Song Chi said, ”It’s been a long time since we’ve seen each other. Luckily, I don’t have any scenes tonight, so I can step out from the filming crew.”

Zhou Yun said, ”If I knew you had to shoot early tomorrow, I wouldn’t have let you come. I could have visited the set.”

Song Chi asked in surprise, ”You visiting the set? Aren’t you reluctant to let others know about us being together?”

”As friends.” Zhou Yun said.

Song Chi laughed and said, ”It’s fine. I can also try Sister Lan’s cooking skills.”

Zhou Lan chuckled and raised her hands, gesturing ”Please don’t say that,” and said, ”That can hardly be called cooking skills, just prepared a hot pot base and chopped some vegetables.”

Zhou Yun said, ”You also made soup. Give me your bowl, I’ll serve you some.”

She reached out her hand towards Song Chi.

Song Chi then handed his bowl over to Zhou Yun.

”But does Xiaoyun have the time to visit Song Chi on set now?” Li Ge asked curiously, ”Haven’t you just won a big award? There should be a lot of work for you, right? I remember when Song Chi won his first award, his schedule for the next half year was packed full; we couldn’t meet him no matter how we tried.”

Zhou Yun smiled as she served Song Chi a bowl of soup and handed it to him, replying to Li Ge, ”It’s not as busy as you think. I’ll start shooting in October, and I’m just doing some shoots and interviews during this period, so my time is quite flexible.”

”Your company is quite humane, I see. Back then, Song Chi’s company kept him so busy that he barely had time to touch the ground, as if he had to be booked for all twenty-four hours of a day.”

At that time, Song Chi was still with Zuo Jing.

He glanced at Li Ge and said, ”That’s why I decided to go solo.”

”It doesn’t seem like you’re any more relaxed,” Li Ge commented.

”At least I can make my own decisions now,” Song Chi said.

Zhou Lan laughed as she put a plate of beef into the hot pot and said, ”Brother Chi is now at the very top of this circle, that’s why he has the authority to make his own decisions. But when he debuted, he could only listen to the company. Otherwise, if the company didn’t arrange work for him, he could have completely slowed down too. Honestly, if you don’t make the most of opportunities when they come, no one will offer them later, and even if you want to strive for them, you won’t be able to. Think about it, from the group of celebrities who were part of the same talent show with Song Chi, how many are still active?”

Li Ge nodded thoughtfully, ”Indeed, seems like there aren’t any.”

Zhou Lan served everyone the cooked beef, adding it to their bowls.

Steam rose in swirls.

She said, ”Now Xiao Yun can afford to slow down. If it weren’t for her current status, with her experience, this would be the last time she should slow down. Brother Chi knows best; popularity is such an ephemeral thing. In the end, an actor’s long-term standing in the industry truly comes from role to role.”

Zhou Yun suddenly thought of something and asked, ”By the way, when will ’Heart Inquiry’ be released?”

Song Chi said, ”There’s no word on it yet.”

Zhou Lan said, ”’Dingfengbo’ is about to air.”

”So soon?” Zhou Yun was surprised to hear this.

The filming for that show had only concluded a few months ago.

Zhou Lan said, ”I heard President He mention it once; he plans to air it by the end of the year.”

”Is it feasible to be so rushed?” Zhou Yun asked in surprise.

Zhou Lan said, ”Modern dramas don’t require as much post-production time as ’Heart Inquiry’.”

The hot pot bubbled vigorously.

Zhou Yun didn’t hold back tonight, seriously tucking into more than a modest portion.

Because Song Chi had been quietly serving Zhou Yun food.

Several times Zhou Lan wanted to remind Zhou Yun to control her portion, but out of consideration for Song Chi being there and not wanting to leave an impression of a ”heartless agent,” she held back.
