Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 318: Chapter 276: Rising Phase: 112_2

”It’s okay, don’t touch it, let it lie down. Getting a massage is too painful for me; I can’t stand it, and I have work to do later.” Zhou Yun sighed, ”Didn’t Sister Lan schedule a meeting with all the domestic media for me? Aren’t we having a casual dinner together tonight?”

Speaking of this, Zhou Yun also couldn’t help but feel impressed; Zhou Lan was really capable, managing to invite all the domestic media that had arrived in Venice for a casual meal before the opening ceremony tomorrow. Zhou Yun had never heard of anyone else doing such extensive public relations before.

Zhou Lan felt it was only right.

”The cost and the venue for this casual meal are all covered by New Shield, you’re attending as the leading actress, and Director Wen will be attending too,” Zhou Lan said. ”They are all media people, not judges, so this couldn’t be considered bribery right? To promote the film better, this is the solution I came up with, isn’t it great?”

Zhou Yun could only give Zhou Lan a thumbs-up.

Sometimes, she genuinely felt that the difference between people wasn’t about superiority, but whether you can accurately acknowledge what you’re good at, whether you are doing what you’re good at, and whether you are bringing 100% effectiveness to that skill.

In Zhou Lan’s phone, she had contacts from all national media outlets, big and small.

Zhou Lan once said, ”I didn’t add them for you, nor for myself, it’s for my job. You need them, Wang Jing needs them, and the other artists I’ll sign in the future will need them too. Likewise, reporters like agents like myself. They’ve got their jobs too, not only for in-depth reporting but also to meet their KPIs. When I need them, they help me; when they need me, I help them.”

Hearing this, Zhou Yun was utterly convinced.

We’re all adults and have come to understand a fact: the world is complex, and many times, we must stick together for warmth.

And Zhou Lan was one of the best at that.

That evening, Zhou Lan arrived early at the reserved restaurant to receive the media reporters.

Zhou Yun met up with Wen Bing first before heading to the restaurant together.

With their joint appearance, they received a warm round of applause.

Regardless, once abroad, they come from the same place, which brought feelings of natural closeness and mutual support.

”Thank you all for taking the time to come here despite being so busy,” Zhou Yun bowed politely in thanks.

”We should be the ones thanking you! Inviting us to dinner, and giving us a chance to do a preliminary report,” the reporters in attendance were happy, ”Can we take a photo of you two first?”

”Sure,” Zhou Yun readily agreed, hooking her arm through Wen Bing’s.

”You two seem to have a good relationship,” a reporter commented with a laugh.

Zhou Yun turned her head and gave Wen Bing a smile. Wen Bing, not having seen such a grand scene before, felt somewhat ill at ease, shy.

”The relationship between a director and an actor should, of course, be good,” Zhou Yun said, ”I really trust him.”

The dinner was a delightful affair.

They ate and chatted.

Zhou Yun didn’t eat much, skipping the main dish and just having some salad.

She needed to be in her best condition for the red carpet tomorrow.

Because of this, the dinner ended quite early.

Zhou Yun and Wen Bing left first.

”Director Wen, not used to such occasions, are you?” Zhou Yun asked with a smile.

Wen Bing gave her a look of surprise, nodded, and said, ”It’s a bit unfamiliar to me.”

Zhou Yun said, ”It seems Director Wen is more comfortable on set.”

Wen Bing smiled with pursed lips.

Zhou Yun looked up at the Venetian night sky and said, ”I really hope we win an award.”

Wen Bing silently watched Zhou Yun, seemingly pondering something, and smiled.

It seemed that only at times like these would Zhou Yun genuinely express her desires.

That night, Zhou Yun went to bed early but struggled to fall asleep. She told herself it was okay, no need to be nervous, but she couldn’t help feeling a bit excited. That emotion lingered in her mind, fermenting in her heart. She tossed and turned in bed; her breathing in the dark room was very even. She knew this was normal. While telling herself not to worry and to go to sleep, she also told herself that excitement was natural and imagined the moment she would walk on the red carpet tomorrow.

Fortunately, the opening ceremony wasn’t in the morning.

Even if she suffered from insomnia, it was okay; she could afford to sleep in a little.

Zhou Yun had no idea at what time she fell asleep, only to be rushed out of bed the next day like a duckling by Zhou Lan.

Washing up, heading out, hopping between different salons with appointments, she made sure to get herself into the best condition.
