Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 251: Chapter 249: Second Instance Quest (83/160)

Regarding the combat with the Griffins, Gu Xi didn’t think much about it at the moment, as he realized he had already activated the second quest in the instance.

[Ding! You communicated with the Barbarian Leader Kado Roar in the instance and discovered a hidden piece of information, activating an instance quest!]

[Instance Quest: Blood-Colored Mysterious Fruit]

[Quest Description: Kill the anomalies inside Westminster Cathedral and obtain the blood-colored mysterious fruit from them.]

[Quest Requirement: Find 100 mysterious fruits (0/100)]

[Quest Reward: Random Beast-Type Unit Training Promotion Manual (If there’s a city, it can be converted into a Beast-Type Unit Training Camp Architectural Design Plan. If you possess transformation route techniques, you can obtain a Beast Research Manual).]

[Note 1: The person who eats the apple gathers all the mysterious power at the heart position.]

[Note 2: Only sufficiently powerful anomalies can transform their mysterious power into mysterious fruits.]

This quest in front of Gu Xi was indeed good news for him.

Although the number of mysterious fruits required was quite a lot, to Gu Xi, it was not a big deal.

The final reward was indeed a good thing.

Gu Xi believed that with his circumstances, he would certainly receive a Beast-Type Unit Training Camp Architectural Design Plan. No matter what the unit is, he would first establish it in Yalidov.

Other matters could be dealt with slowly later; first, he needed to replenish his troops.

Based on the undead situation, Gu Xi guessed that the beasts he could obtain would either be Vampire Bats, Cannibal Wolves, or Spiders, with other possibilities being unlikely.

Most of these units start at level 2, boasting high mobility and strong impact, with a large number.

They were a supplement to Gu Xi’s forces.

Gu Xi was very attentive to this quest in front of him.

If it weren’t for the fact that they had already entered the underground tomb through the tunnel, Gu Xi might have wanted to go back to Westminster Cathedral Square to see if he could kill some anomalies in advance.

Seeing that the mission plan gained from chatting was effective, Gu Xi quickly started chatting again.

But until they reached the cracked edge of the underground tomb, Gu Xi did not receive any other quests.

At this moment, Gu Xi stopped asking questions, and he looked up and saw the effect of his own explosions.

The crack opened by Spore Cultist Charlie before, now obviously amplified after Gu Xi’s Flame Trap.

Luckily, neither Anna nor anyone else knew how big the crack initially was. Upon seeing the underground tomb blasted open to such an extent, they were quite angry but didn’t blame Gu Xi for it.

Once they arrived here, the main forces brought by Anna all stopped.

They sat down in place, quickly tending to their weapons and eating their provisions, their synchronized actions made Gu Xi feel like his own troops were missing something.

And at this point, the miscellaneous troops that followed moved forward.

They crawled out from the blasted crack, quickly arranging things in the outer space.

Anna and her team were well aware that there was an underground river below Westminster Cathedral, and Gu Xi had specifically pointed out that after the underground tomb was blasted open, it was already soaked with water below.

Although the water had been drained now, it didn’t mean there was no water in the outside underground river.

And Anna’s team was absolutely not going to lead Spore Cultist Charlie into the underground tomb to fight.

So, the miscellaneous troops needed to accomplish one task this time, which was to build a temporary dam in the outer underground river in a short period, diverting the river water elsewhere.

Considerations for after the battle would come later.

Once the miscellaneous troops climbed out of the blasted crack, they quickly sprang into action.

Among these miscellaneous troops, the ones with the strongest building skills were the mages adorned with differently colored hoods.

Don’t be fooled by their individual lack of might, their attack power might not be remarkable, but their operations in terms of transformation or other aspects, their attachments were very well executed.

Under their operations, large stones flew up from the underwater of the underground river, turning into large stone slabs laid flatly on the river’s surface.

Through these means, they managed to create a platform on which people could stand.

Meanwhile, other miscellaneous troops had a place to stand, unlike Gu Xi previously, who could only fight enemies from the crack.

However, this platform couldn’t exist indefinitely.

The issue of water diversion still needed to be handled.

The Undead Corps brought by Gu Xi were selected first as the labor force, as the undead did not fear water at all, so the Grand Knight approached Gu Xi to have him send troops into the water to block several underground river passages.

”This wasn’t originally your task; there are several Undead Mages among the miscellaneous troops, but I see you’re working hard, can’t let you run in vain, right.

Just complete this task, and I’ll credit it to you.

However, keep in mind, the passageway can’t be completely sealed, after dealing with this guy, we’ll need to open it again.”

With the Grand Knight’s guidance, Gu Xi could also see those underwater outlets.

Gu Xi then realized that this underground river had already been modified once by the Britons.

In the waterways, there were many signs of man-made excavations.

All Gu Xi needed to do was transport some stones to the front of the waterway to block it.

This kind of task could be done by any Undead Mage.

The Grand Knight had Gu Xi carry it out; it truly was an opportunity for Gu Xi.

”Rest assured, Grand Knight, I will get this done properly.”

”Alright, I’ll leave it to you then, but be cautious, this underground river is a part of Victoria City’s underground water network defense line, and there are some Cannibal Fish in there, avoid going in yourself, send the Skeleton Soldiers.”

”Water network defense line? What is that?”

Gu Xi curiously asked a question, always having a feeling that this seemed quite important.

”You might not know this, generally speaking, every city will have underground water, right? If a city is more sophisticated, it should also have sewers, and these are what comprise the water network defense line.

Don’t underestimate the water network defense line, you might not realize, but if it is well arranged, it’s even possible to station troops underground.”

Listening to the Grand Knight, Gu Xi thought of the tasks in Yalidov’s Barracks.

In his expedition tasks within the barracks, no matter how the scenario changed, there was always a task to clear the sewers.

Initially, Gu Xi thought this task was easy.

Now it seems that may not be the case.

Also, when Gu Xi first activated the well, he started by clearing the sewers.

Gu Xi had seen the vastness of Yalidov’s sewer system.

It’s certainly possible to arrange one or two spaces within them.

It looks like after returning, he should pay more attention to the task of clearing the sewers.
