Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 271: Chapter 269: The Oncoming Swarm of Ravens

But the Death Incarnation had already been unleashed, and Gu Xi couldn’t say anything, so he could only let the Death Incarnation scour the enemy’s side once more.

Then Gu Xi turned his head and issued a new command.

”Skeleton Shooter, Skeleton Mage attack after three waves, Arroyo charge!”

Under Gu Xi’s command, the Undead Corps behind began to attack.

Among the newly summoned Undead, there were no Skeleton Shooters or Skeleton Mages, so these two units remained as they were.

Their attack followed the Death Incarnation, performing one last sweep of the area where the Mysterious Lancers had stood moments ago.

Then Arroyo led the lancer unit forward and charged.

The newly summoned Undead Corps also charged out together.

Among these Undead, besides a portion that was quickly integrated due to their compatibility, the rest were simply released by Gu Xi.

Now they were directly unleashed, charging at the bewildered enemy.

At the place where the Death Incarnation had rushed through, the molten metal had ignited once again, turning red-hot, while the Starfire Nightmare Shadow began absorbing the heat from the metal.

But something unexpected happened to Gu Xi.

Because the heat was absorbed, the metal rapidly cooled down.

It didn’t get absorbed into the black mist of the Death Incarnation as Gu Xi had imagined.

This circumstance surprised Gu Xi.

Yet, since it wasn’t absorbed, so be it; it had already blended into a pool, and presumably, it’s thoroughly dead.

Looking at the landscape of metal covering the ground, Gu Xi felt some concern.

But seeing his Undead Corps tread over the metal, advancing to the rear and engaging with the Black Robe Cultists, without causing any issues, Gu Xi naturally felt relieved.

Actually, the Black Robe Cultists at the back weren’t much; there were just more of them in number.

However, their levels were roughly between Level 3 to Level 5.

Their Life Force wasn’t exceptionally strong either, even lacking a Hero, just led by a Boss.

They were rushing behind the Mysterious Lancers and happened to intersect the tail flame of the Red Dragon’s Dragon Breath.

This didn’t kill them.

But then the Death Incarnation reignited the fire on them that was about to extinguish.

In this moment, the barely surviving Black Robe Cultists were burned once more, and the Death Incarnation seized the opportunity to engulf the burning Black Robe Cultists into the black mist.

Now, the Starfire Nightmare Shadow of the Death Incarnation seemed normal.

Gradually, bright red ghost silhouettes appeared in the black clouds.

They hovered around the Death Incarnation like satellites, attempting to dash out whenever reaching the cloud’s edge, but they couldn’t break free, only shrieking incessantly.

This scenario was more terrifying than before, more than the black mist augmented by the Crystal Storm.

But for Gu Xi, this truly felt like a Starfire Nightmare Shadow; if it couldn’t achieve this, what was the point of calling it a nightmare?

After the Death Incarnation passed, the rear Undead Corps continued their slaughter.

Arroyo’s corps moved swiftly, and upon arriving, the Black Robe Cultists’ numbers had dwindled significantly.

The lancers didn’t hesitate, raising their Long Spears to stab forward; those Black Robe Cultists had just survived a Flame attack only to face a spear forest massacre with no chance for resistance.

The Black Robe Cultists didn’t even raise their swords before being pinned to the ground, followed by several more spears, taking all their Lives.

The trailing Undead, who arrived thinking they could reap the spoils, barely had a chance to clean the battlefield.

For them, this was almost a waste of a trip.

Upon reaching the spot near Yalidov Tower’s city gate, Gu Xi’s ears heard a new hint.

[Ding! Temporary mission: Core progress of transition has changed, two enemy waves eliminated; 15 minutes until the third wave arrives, please prepare for battle.]

Listening to this, Gu Xi nodded with satisfaction.

”Clean up the battlefield, then withdraw quickly, and prepare for the next battle.”

Even though this fight went smoothly, Gu Xi didn’t let his guard down.

Such a large strategic fortress couldn’t have only this tiny force; the hardest part is likely in the third wave.

Actually, Gu Xi didn’t realize there was a reason behind his smooth success in two waves.

The initial three thousand or so troops were merely a prelude; every wave actually had a Boss present.

If during the first wave all efforts were focused on the Mysterious, neglecting the sacrificial ritual of the Black Robe Cultists, a powerful Mysterious Creature would have emerged.

During the second wave, without the Death Incarnation, the molten metal would have recombined into a formidable Metal Creature.

This was the most terrifying aspect of the two waves of attacks.

Yet, without Gu Xi knowing, they were prevented from manifesting.

Thus he wondered why the enemy seemed weak, thinking the power was entirely concentrated in the final wave of attack.

So, after the prompt, aside from assigning his subordinates to clean the battlefield, Gu Xi refrained from recklessly consuming Mana for Summoning, instead gazing skyward, contemplating which Yalidov Tower might descend next.

Looking up for a moment, the five Yalidov Tower Mirrors above showed no reaction, puzzling Gu Xi.

Perplexed, he glanced around, suddenly noticing at the peak of one of Yalidov Tower’s towers, through the highest window, two ominous noble boys with dead-fish eyes holding hands were staring at him.

Even an Undead Mage, armed with Level 6 Undead Knowledge, Gu Xi felt uneasy being watched by them.

But Gu Xi didn’t have the time to care for them; he needed to focus on the other Yalidov Towers up in the sky to know where the enemy was coming from and how to position his stance.

This time, he benefited from positioning; if it happens so smoothly next, the temporary mission will be complete.

Just then, all of the Yalidov Tower Mirrors in the sky flickered, and a massive flock of Ravens emerged from Yalidov Tower.

These Ravens raced towards him at high speed; upon seeing this, Gu Xi swiftly commanded: ”Everyone, make battle preparations, Corpse Poison Fly, Stone Golem, Red Dragon, take to the sky; Death Incarnation, intercept all the Ravens up there.”

As Gu Xi issued the command, the first wave of Ravens had already reached this level; Gu Xi realized they resembled the Ravens from Victoria Tower, each as large as Golden Eagles.

As they dove down, their sharp beaks targeting those on the ground, appearing intent on eliminating Gu Xi’s forces in one sweep.
