Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 252: Chapter 250: War Begins, Tail King Spore Cultist Charlie

For the task arranged by the Grand Knight, Gu Xi was still very attentive.

After the Grand Knight left, he quickly arranged for two heroes to handle the matter, while he himself stood on the shore, observing and contemplating the water network defense line.

The Grand Knight only gave a reminder; Gu Xi hadn’t figured it out yet.

But one thing was certain, the water network defense line was closely related to city construction. Gu Xi suspected that as long as the water network defense line was built, Yalidu City could gain four to five more large plots of land.

For Gu Xi, this was a huge supplement.

While Gu Xi was thinking, the progress of the project here saw the underground river’s water slowly retreating a lot.

Gu Xi could see that in this underground river channel, many corpses had accumulated.

Because they had always been washed by the river’s current, most of the corpses no longer had flesh, leaving only parts of the white bones.

But from the details left beside them, it could be seen that they were packed into sacks by people, and thrown down with stones added in.

Just looking at the mixed white bones in the riverbed’s silt, Gu Xi could imagine how many people were packed into sacks and thrown into the Isis River every day.

For such a situation, other troops had already become accustomed.

They didn’t even glance at these white bones; they just went about their own business there.

It took less than an hour for a suitable battle platform to be built under the apple tree roots.

The battle platform in front of him was divided into three levels, with an overall style like half of a soccer field.

The evacuated underground river channel was the bottom layer, then the platform arranged by the mages was the second layer, and the rift leading out from the underground tomb was the third layer.

Combined, these three platforms were about seventy to eighty thousand square meters, roughly the size of ten soccer fields.

Compared to the underground tomb behind the wall, it was no smaller.

After the battle platform was completed, all rogue troops did not withdraw, but began to set up at the front line, while those elite troops led by Anna also emerged from the underground tomb.

The archer with long ears led 300 pure shooters, stationed at the best spot on the second platform.

From that position, one could look up and see the apple tree roots above.

Another who occupied the second platform was the subordinates of the Old Wizard.

But compared to the pure shooter team, the Old Wizard’s subordinates were evidently more diverse in troops; however, the Old Wizard himself was clearly a master, so he didn’t care about these.

After occupying a platform, he seriously studied the apple tree roots on the ceiling.

”It seems someone had cleared it before; now the energy of these roots is focused on the apple tree on the ground, presenting the best attack opportunity.

Eldest Princess Anna, your choice wasn’t wrong.”

”...” Anna, leading three hundred soldiers, happened to pass by the Old Wizard.

For the Old Wizard’s words, Anna didn’t know what to say.

She could only silently walk to the position initially discussed and position her troops appropriately.

Because of Anna’s takeover, Gu Xi, whose troop strength was inadequate at this time, was assigned to the rear.

For Gu Xi, it felt a bit like being discarded after the donkey’s work was done.

But the problem was, Anna didn’t see it that way; in Anna’s eyes, Gu Xi’s own strength was lacking, his troop numbers insufficient, and his level not high.

The only advantage he could offer was the skill of Death City.

But his Death City skill was obviously only level 3, unable to summon even a Soul Summoning Tower besides the city gate.

What use was such a Death City on the battlefield?

Should Gu Xi arrange for level 1 or 2 troops to serve as cannon fodder?

Forget it, there really was no need for such a thing.

So Gu Xi was arranged in the rear; he could observe the battle from the edge of the rift as long as he didn’t interfere with the transport behind.

Gu Xi also didn’t plan to argue about this.

In Gu Xi’s view, his goal was to observe Spore Cultist Charlie’s combat style.

His time to showcase would be during the second dungeon run.

By then, he wouldn’t tell Anna anything about the underground tomb.

Wouldn’t it feel delightful to fight all the way through by himself?

He could even cut a few more segments of apple tree roots to take back.

To deal with the problems emerging at Evil Wood Lake again.

For now, Gu Xi retracted part of his troops, leaving only those he personally led, while he held a notebook in hand, swiftly recording Anna’s tactics against Spore Cultist Charlie.

After deploying the troops, Anna nodded towards the archer with long ears.

The archer reached out and picked up his longbow.

His bow was a full meter and ninety centimeters tall, and with one stretch of the bow, he almost fell to the ground.

However, the archer did not feel embarrassed by his actions. Supporting himself with one foot on the ground, he swiftly adjusted the angle, and shot an arrow towards the giant tree orb in the sky.

The arrow flew out, carrying a dazzling white light.

Standing by the crack, Gu Xi immediately blocked his eyes with his hand.

After the white light, Gu Xi heard a scream and looked in the direction it came from, discovering that the originally orb-shaped tree was rapidly unfolding, revealing its core section inside.

It was a man whose body had completely turned into wood.

His body was entangled with numerous red threads, leaving only his head exposed.

Due to the distance and that he hadn’t grown gigantic, Gu Xi couldn’t clearly see his face.

He could only tell that his hair was golden yellow, and as the roots unfolded, he was still shouting something.

Centered around him, over a hundred large and small tree roots unfolded, but only eight of them hung downwards, while the remaining roots clung to the ceiling.

Apparently, the eight hanging roots were Spore Cultist Charlie’s main attack force, and the remaining roots served mostly as decorative backdrops.

As Gu Xi pondered Spore Cultist Charlie’s situation, pink pollen fell from the sky.

Everyone looked up and discovered that as the apple tree roots spread, all of the black apple blossoms had bloomed; the head-sized fruit, wrapped by red threads, filled the entire root system and was sliding downwards.

Seeing Spore Cultist Charlie lowering the corpse, Anna immediately issued a command.

”Stop them!”

So regardless of whether they were the main force or miscellaneous troops, as long as they could lift a bow, any soldiers capable of ranged attacks all immediately raised their bows.

Gu Xi made the same choice, stepping forward with the Skeleton Shooter and Skeleton Mage, locking onto some of the hanging fruits.

Gu Xi understood this was Spore Cultist Charlie’s skill, Time Progression.

The fruits would turn into small monsters to engage in the attack.

But just at this moment, the red lines suspending the fruits suddenly broke, and all the fruits fell heavily to the ground, rolled in the silt, and mixed with the white bones in the sludge.
