Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 297: Chapter 295: Rewards for Killing Players

As Gu Xi was cleaning up the bodies on the battlefield, his subordinate undead minions were also tidying up the battlefield.

As the main combat force, these undead minions that had just been summoned were inadequate.

However, as the main force for cleaning up the battlefield, they were playing an extraordinary role.

Regardless of whether it was something Gu Xi could see or in places he couldn’t see, as long as it had any attributes, even if it was just gray trash, they would pick it up.

Soon, a pile of bizarre items accumulated in front of Gu Xi, including weapons used by the demon players’ units and feathered spears used by the dry corpses’ lancers.

There were also some broken weapon fragments or items discarded nearby, things that usually went unnoticed.

One item among them caught Gu Xi’s attention.

It was a human head carved from jade. The face couldn’t be made out, but the eyes were peculiarly clear, resembling a fox’s eyes from afar.

[Ding! Your temporary task: The sealed power has changed, and you have found a suitable task-required head component.]

[Task Requirement: Find seven sealed components (2/7), assemble, and defeat the assembly (0/1)]

Looking at the information in front of him, Gu Xi picked up the jade skull.

For some reason, when Gu Xi held the jade skull, he became slightly interested in the faceless skull, as if it belonged to the most beautiful woman in the world.

But fortunately, it was just a skull. Gu Xi, as an Undead Mage, had wide-ranging tastes but did not have any other thoughts about skulls.

He quickly shook off the skull’s charm and was convinced that the jade skull was indeed a sealed component.

Gu Xi immediately ordered the undead to send the skull back to Yalidu City.

Carrying this thing around would only bring disaster.

Under the current circumstances, it was definitely not wise to keep it with him.

With this discovery, Gu Xi became more interested in the trash, and after some more searching, he did find a few somewhat useful items.

[Portable Lava Pool (Green): A special product from Cold Leaf City, it can set up a lava pool with a diameter of thirty meters at a designated location. The lava temperature is below 1000 degrees, suitable for demons or other creatures needing flames.]

This made Gu Xi’s eyes light up; a thirty-meter diameter was not small. If this lava pool could remain in place, Gu Xi could set it up in Yalidovitar, allowing the Red Dragon to recharge its firepower regularly.

[Slave Pen (Green): A special product from Cold Leaf City that can be deployed on the battlefield, producing about 30 small demons per hour, level 3, to join the fight, lasting three hours.]

This was for reinforcing troops on the battlefield. It seemed Cold Leaf City pursued a different combat strategy.

But this item seemed useless; reinforcing troops on the battlefield wasn’t done this way. Producing 90 soldiers in three hours, all level 3 small demons, looked good on paper but was actually a joke.

By the time all these units deploy, the battle would have been over for centuries.

No wonder the demon sorcerer who held this item didn’t use it; he probably knew it was unreliable.

[Flame Footprint (White): A decorative item to add splendid effects to a mount, can be placed anywhere on a mount. Once placed, it leaves traces of burning flames on the path the mount travels.]

”There’s something like this?”

Gu Xi affixed the [Flame Footprint] onto the Evil Coffin.

In an instant, the Evil Coffin was enveloped in flames, giving the impression, from afar, of a massive object burning because it couldn’t handle the large bundle of trouble.

Seeing this, Gu Xi was quite speechless, but upon closer inspection, he realized the flame had no heat.

Touching the flame, Gu Xi then climbed onto the Evil Coffin, and the flames extended from where he sat onto his body.

Wrapped in flames, Gu Xi realized his flesh had vanished, and now he was nothing but a flaming skeleton.

Such a sight left Gu Xi speechless; despite being an Undead Mage, he didn’t wish to look like a skeleton.

The instant the thought crossed his mind, the flames vanished from his body, and the fire on the Evil Coffin dissipated, leaving only scorched marks on the ground.

Seeing the item’s effects in action, Gu Xi felt more at ease.

He made a circuit around the area on the Evil Coffin, noticing it left a ten-second flame trail, followed by scorch marks on the ground, wherever it passed.

Ignoring the impracticality, it was a pretty cool effect.

Gu Xi continued digging through the trash, finding some more decent equipment, though none matched the previous finds. Evidently, those demon sorcerer players weren’t experts.

The real expert must have been the lady boss riding the Cloud Whale.

It was unfortunate that the boss lady got roasted by thirty Red Dragons, burning everything she had to ashes, leaving nothing behind; otherwise, Gu Xi would have scavenged to see if there was anything worth taking.

Once it was confirmed there were no other items on site, Gu Xi got back onto the Evil Coffin, pointed in a direction, and departed with the newly summoned Undead Corps.

After the earlier battle, coupled with previously summoned undead, Gu Xi now commanded about six hundred undead, mostly level 2, with a few reaching level 3.

Among them were several Undead Bosses, but because Gu Xi’s undead forces were too mixed, they hadn’t yet organized into new Combat Squads.

They knew their role for Gu Xi was insignificant, so they behaved, assisting Gu Xi in maintaining control of the undead troops.

The chaotic and expanding army thus managed to advance smoothly in Gu Xi’s designated direction, without veering off course for any reason.

As for the thirty Red Dragons, Gu Xi neither sent them back nor released them.

These dragons were Gu Xi’s guarantee of safety for now.

When they circled above him, Gu Xi was indeed the brightest star on the block.
