The scenery that appeared before Gu Xi was something he never expected.

Outside this station, there was a gigantic city composed of countless two to three-story wooden buildings, with electric wires crisscrossing between them like a spider web.

However, what shocked Gu Xi was not this, but a giant white Guanyin statue standing amidst the buildings.

The Guanyin statue was extremely striking; even from Gu Xi’s position, he could feel that Guanyin was staring right at him.

This feeling made Gu Xi quite uncomfortable. He was about to retreat into the station when his briefcase suddenly turned hot again.

He quickly took out the piece of white paper and saw that a new line of text had appeared on it.

[Celestial Dao White-robed Great Guanyin (Level 20): The most powerful anomaly in this world. The maximum level in this world is Level 10, and she is the only exception at Level 20. She controls the only external rule of this world: daytime combat is prohibited.

Anyone who fights during the day will face a comprehensive attack from the Celestial Dao White-robed Great Guanyin.]

[Method to defeat: Not discovered]

[Method to weaken: Not discovered]

”Level 20?”

Gu Xi exclaimed softly.

Gu Xi never imagined that as soon as he got off the train, this world would give him such a direct blow.

If it were just Level 10, Gu Xi might consider making a move.

Level 20, he better forget about it; Death Incarnation is not omnipotent.

Before Gu Xi could figure out how to deal with the Celestial Dao White-robed Great Guanyin, the piece of white paper in his hand suddenly heated up by itself.

Gu Xi looked up and found that the eyes of the Great Guanyin had already widened, seemingly fixed on him.

Gu Xi understood that he had maintained eye contact with the Celestial Dao White-robed Great Guanyin for too long, provoking a reaction from her.

Luckily, the rules here were quite simple. As long as he did not fight openly during the day, there would be no issue.

Gu Xi immediately lowered his head, carefully put away the white paper, picked up his briefcase, and walked out of the station.

Upon stepping onto the city’s streets, Gu Xi felt the surrounding crowd suddenly become vibrant.

The streets were bustling with busy office workers, their faces clear and distinct, unlike the eerie ”logical people” Gu Xi had encountered before.

However, there was still something unusual about them. While moving forward, they either looked straight at the road ahead or kept their heads down, not accustomed to looking up.

Gu Xi observed for a moment and discovered the reason for their behavior.

Beside these ordinary people, there were always some anomalies hidden in the shadows.

As long as they didn’t make eye contact with these anomalies, the anomalies wouldn’t see them, allowing them to live safely through life.

This survival environment had developed such habits in them.

Gu Xi didn’t have any intention of delving deeply into these ordinary people’s habits; however, he thought it might be a good way to spot other players during the day.

Most players wouldn’t notice this point and would continue with their usual habits.

Just pay more attention, and you could spot players.

As for how to deal with players during the day, that’s something Gu Xi needed to think about.

After all, the number of anomalies Gu Xi had encountered was relatively small, and many rules were not yet certain. Using some rules to target players was also not Gu Xi’s main ability.

Gu Xi planned to try for a couple of days, and if it didn’t work out, he would hide during the day and wait for nightfall to unleash havoc.

Just as Gu Xi was about to find a place to stay, he suddenly noticed a man in a gray suit on the opposite side of the street staring at him.

This man wore a white mask over his face, and yet people around him seemed oblivious to his presence.

Seeing the flicker of blue light behind the mask, Gu Xi knew this was a player from Qiufeng City.

An Order Mage.

After learning the rules and information of this world, Gu Xi regarded players from Qiufeng City as formidable foes.

They learned from a young age how to deal with anomalies, controlling anomaly powers to strengthen themselves.

Although they just graduated and perhaps didn’t have many powerful anomalies, Gu Xi had heard they possessed life-bound anomalies similar to Contracted Undead.

In such a world, they truly would thrive, showcasing advantages beyond that of other players.

On his first day here, Gu Xi didn’t want to come into contact with these people right away.

The previous episode with Duan Wheel, the Demon Man, who he had cunningly eliminated, was because that guy appeared in an inconvenient place to leave, like the train, and even attempted to attack Gu Xi.

Gu Xi countered only out of sheer necessity.

Otherwise, Gu Xi wouldn’t strike before matters had even commenced.

Taking a look at the Order Mage from a distance, Gu Xi had no intention of engaging or communicating with him.

He took a step back, glanced at the markings on the ground, and waved over a taxi which stopped right in front of him.

Gu Xi opened the back door, smiled at the Order Mage, and then got in.

Once inside the taxi, Gu Xi suddenly frowned.

He sensed the taxi driver seemed somewhat impatient, as though Gu Xi’s presence disrupted his plans.

A closer look revealed the driver was completely wrapped up, even wearing tight white gloves on his hands.

Gu Xi was not certain if all taxi drivers in this world were like this, but he had a bad feeling about the situation.

”Sir, where do you want to go, sir?”

”Oh!” Gu Xi finally reacted, thoughts racing through his mind before he said, ”Please find a guesthouse near a large park for me.”

”Alright, please sit tight.”

The driver contemplated Gu Xi’s request before shifting gears and setting off.

As the taxi drove on, Gu Xi inadvertently noticed some bottles and jars seemingly stowed under the front passenger seat.

This situation put Gu Xi on alert, leading him to place his hand on the Spirit Lamp on his left wrist. If the taxi driver made any strange movements, Gu Xi would instantly resort to his mental powers.

Fortunately, while the taxi driver exhibited some impatience, he didn’t display any other abnormal behavior throughout the ride.

About ten minutes later, Gu Xi had already noticed that no matter where the taxi went, looking up would always reveal the colossal Celestial Dao White-robed Great Guanyin.

No wonder this Great Guanyin could suppress the entire city; the sensation of the whole city being under her gaze was truly discomforting.

At this point, the taxi came to a halt.

”You’ve arrived, guest. Over there is Maple Leaf Park; during autumn, the maple leaves here are beautiful. Those are lovely guesthouses for short-term rental. Oh, and over there is the abandoned old campus of Yitou Middle School. Strange things often happen there, so avoid going that way whenever possible.”
