Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 293: Chapter 291: The Legion of Demons

”Charge forward and kill!”

After Gu Xi had killed the first batch of enemies, more and more enemies appeared in front of Gu Xi.

These enemies appeared wave after wave.

Their strength was mostly at the 2 to 3 level, each wave consisting of about 30 to 50 people.

Their appearances were varied; some wore grass-woven armor and carried bamboo spears as Ashigaru, some were wild boar heads wrapped in thick mud, and others looked like monks but were peculiar monks tattooed with tattoos.

Their way of attack was direct combat, though their style carried a hint of weirdness, always trying to strike from odd angles, making them difficult to guard against.

However, Gu Xi didn’t care about these at all. With enough troops under his command, Gu Xi placed the troops in front and crushed them with overwhelming force.

He himself kept summoning to replenish troops from behind.

Even without deploying any heroes, Gu Xi had already defeated seven or eight units, collecting more than two hundred different Undead.

However, these Undead, like Wooden Stick Zombies, were ordinary and without any distinct traits, and Gu Xi just threw them into the cannon fodder ranks.

Instead, it was the items left behind by these defeated enemies that piqued Gu Xi’s interest.

[Tusk of the Walking Mountain Lord (Treasure): The tusk records some conditions of the 4th level strange Walking Mountain Lord. Possessing it gives you a chance to slay the Walking Mountain Lord during the day.]

[Treasure of the Light Infantry Guardian (Map): Records the location of a treasure guarded by a group of Light Infantry, which you can retrieve during the day.]

[Hiking Monk’s Token (Treasure): A token used by the Hiking Monk to prove his identity. Holding this token allows you to seek refuge in a nearby monastery, though which serious monk would use a token?]

Looking at these rewards, Gu Xi slowly understood what the White Training Grand Ceremony would be like if Qiufeng City and Cold Leaf City had not joined.

At that time, all the Undead Mage players would fight with their Soldier Tokens, relying on the troops within them.

After killing the enemies, they would use the Soul Summoning Skill to replenish troops.

Without the participation of Qiufeng City and Cold Leaf City, this method was relatively fair.

At least everyone’s starting point was the same.

The rest was a competition of each player’s skills, command methods when encountering enemies, and the success rate of their summoning.

Ultimately, it came down to the quality and stats of the troops under one’s command.

However, with the participation of Qiufeng City and Cold Leaf City, the situation changed, and the fair and just rules lost importance compared to city rivalries.

Most of the Undead Mage players made a choice—abandoning ranks on the leaderboard to concentrate large forces and eliminate players from other cities.

In this way, as soon as the Undead Mages unleashed their tactics, the initial enemies they encountered were pathetically weak.

Gu Xi didn’t even deploy his heroes; by releasing a Combat Squad, he nearly achieved a clearing effect.

This made Gu Xi shift his gaze to a larger battlefield not far away.

”Let’s move forward. Clean up the battlefield and return to the city on your own.”

After killing yet another batch of enemies, Gu Xi instantly summoned all the enemies into new Undead and then gave orders to the Skeleton Boss.

Afterward, Gu Xi directed the Evil Coffin towards a particular direction.

The reason he headed that way was because of the sound of drums coming from that direction.

The sound here was grand; compared to the mobs he just defeated, clearly this side had more enemies.

Gu Xi, tired of dealing with mobs, was eager to see a real formidable enemy here.

Driving the Evil Coffin along the sound of drums down half a street, Gu Xi saw the new enemy.

Just as he had guessed, this enemy was no longer a mere skirmish of 20 to 50 people.

In front of him was a large force of over five hundred.

Within the force, more than a hundred were Drum Majors, and Gu Xi heard the drumming sound emanating from their instruments.

The remaining four hundred or so were mostly Lancers, clad in elaborate feather armor, escorting a grand palanquin that required sixteen bearers.

This palanquin was adorned with silk, inlaid with gems, gold, and silver, inside sat a corpse draped in white feather garments and a black high hat.

The corpse had three eye sockets and noticed Gu Xi’s presence as soon as he appeared.

It slowly lifted its head, mouthed, and said to Gu Xi, ”Scram!”

After speaking, it raised a paper fan and pointed forward, ”Let’s go, don’t bother with such trash.”

The word ’trash’ was spoken loudly and deliberately, clearly telling Gu Xi, I look down on you, go ahead and try to attack me.

Faced with this provocation, Gu Xi had to admit this was the most brazen challenge he had encountered.

He didn’t know where this creature got the confidence to dare challenge Gu Xi like this.

Regardless of the creature’s situation, it had definitely angered Gu Xi now.

Gu Xi raised his hand, and a massive city gate appeared in front of this force, from which a special unit emerged.

This unit was entirely enveloped in black dust, and only the long spears in their hands could be seen.

”Black Spear Camp, attack and kill them!”

This unit, the Black Spear Camp, was Gu Xi’s troops.

For this White Training Grand Ceremony, Gu Xi had especially concentrated all units around several city gates.

No matter what situation arose in the world, or if Yalidov encountered trouble, he could swiftly deploy units without being unable to summon the right troops.

Faced with this situation, Gu Xi immediately deployed the Black Spear Camp.

The same Lancers, Gu Xi wanted to see which were stronger—his or the enemy’s.

With Gu Xi’s command, the charging Black Spear Camp advanced forward.

As they moved, the enemy finally saw the Black Spear Camp clearly.

They were clad in red battle garments, wore black caps, and their skin shimmered with a metallic sheen.

Seeing this, the corpse on the grand palanquin pointed forward.

”Frontal thrust, engage in a stab battle!”

The corpse was full of confidence in his troops’ Spear Stabbing Technique.

In his eyes, there was nothing his Lancers could not achieve.

However, he never considered that what he saw was merely an illusion.

The Black Spear Camp looked like a metallic force, yet most of them were Skeleton Soldiers.

For Skeleton Soldiers, they had over a fifty percent dodge rate against piercing attacks.

Seeing Skeleton Soldiers, normal folks would choose blunt attacks as the primary method, making enemies choosing piercing attacks quite rare.

Unfortunately, this corpse still didn’t realize his mistake and continued to shout loudly.

”Kill them, kill all who dare offend my majesty!”
