Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 281: Chapter 279: The Show Begins

There’s been a power outage for two days, and there’s still no hope of electricity coming back, speechless.

That day, Gu Xi bought the daily quota of magic potions from the guild store, preparing to go to the Radiant Library to read, when Li Xinghui’s raven suddenly flew in front of Gu Xi.

”It’s about to start!”

Reading the information on the note delivered, Gu Xi understood that the White Training Grand Ceremony was about to begin.

He packed away the magic potions he was still holding in his hand, then picked up his weapons and equipment and turned towards the path to enter the Chaoyang Radiance Guild.

Seeing Gu Xi come out so simply, Li Xinghui, who was waiting at the entrance of the path, was also a bit surprised.

”Didn’t I tell you to prepare for a few days? How come you haven’t prepared anything?”

”No, I’ve prepared, Brother Li, don’t worry, I won’t suffer a loss this time.”

Seeing Gu Xi’s confident attitude, Li Xinghui said no more.

As long as Gu Xi was fine, what about the other novice players?

How could those beginners possibly win against the combination of the Two of the Three Divine Skills?

After leaving the station of the Chaoyang Radiance Guild, the carriage went in another direction.

Gu Xi sat by the window, able to clearly see many oddly shaped vehicles or transportation tools heading in the same direction.

On those vehicles were seemingly strong players, each bringing along seven or eight novice players.

Having only one novice player like on Gu Xi’s side was quite rare.

”Don’t look, if it weren’t for you this year, our guild wouldn’t send anyone at all.”

Seeing Gu Xi always looking outside, Li Xinghui said with a smile.

”Why?”

Gu Xi asked curiously.

”How to say, the guild leader’s relationship with the current City Lord isn’t great, so he doesn’t obey the City Lord’s orders if he can help it.”

Li Xinghui said with some helplessness, given that such a guild leader also gave them guild members a headache.

Thinking about the guild leader’s appearance and quirky mind, Gu Xi couldn’t help but admit, the guild leader was indeed quite a player.

Just when Gu Xi was about to say something, he suddenly noticed the carriage seemed to be slowing down.

At this time, Li Xinghui also poked his head out to look, ”Strange, what’s happening?”

Gu Xi also looked out the window to see that the road ahead seemed to be blocked.

Several players were having a loud argument at the intersection.

Gu Xi followed the crowd’s gaze and saw that the vehicles there were all marked with their respective guild emblems.

”Corpse Bone Fish Dragon, Ghostly Spear, Steel Ghost Claw, these are the Three Great Guilds of Bailian City, why are they arguing on the road?”

”Should we go take a look?” Li Xinghui casually asked, seeing Gu Xi’s curious expression.

”Can we?”

Gu Xi immediately became excited.

”Of course we can, we’re almost there anyway, it won’t waste much time to go take a look.”

Li Xinghui was also full of curiosity, wanting to know what the Three Great Guilds were arguing about.

At the Three Great Guilds’ convoy, the faces of the leading captains turned quite unpleasant.

A player, an Undead Mage wearing a white dragon bone, was angrily saying, ”I don’t care, this is Steel Ghost Claw’s doing, you have to take responsibility and handle it.”

” ...” On the Steel Ghost Claw side, leading them was a vice-guild leader, who looked a bit pale. He understood that his plan had offended some people.

But he didn’t actually regret it; he was just a bit annoyed that luck wasn’t on his side this time.

He didn’t expect that adjusting the Grand Ceremony’s rules a bit would cause so much trouble.

However, the other two guilds wanted to pin this responsibility on him, which was impossible.

”I just wanted to give the kids in the city a fairer challenge opportunity, I didn’t expect Qiufeng City and Cold Leaf City would jump in at this time.

This is clearly our Bailian City’s White Training Grand Ceremony, what’s it to them?”

”It’s nothing to them, but they directly said that White Silk Lake is in their upstream and downstream; if they insist on joining, what’s your reason to refuse?

Besides, now it’s not a matter of rejecting or not rejecting, but because of your lousy suggestion, you’ve messed up the city’s children’s greatest advantage.

Only bringing less than 50 soldiers, also officially provided by Bailian City.

If they can’t bring the Undead they trained themselves, are they still Undead Mages?

The efforts of those kids over these days, you’re just ignoring them?”

Getting a earful from players of the same rank, the Steel Ghost Claw’s vice-guild leader also felt a bit embarrassed.

He wanted to explain a bit more, but no one wanted to listen to him.

If it weren’t for seeing other guild teams arriving, they might’ve continued arguing here.

While Gu Xi was watching the commotion, Li Xinghui had already gotten some information.

”What’s going on?”

”Don’t mention it, I just found out that Steel Ghost Claw’s vice-guild leader, for the sake of his son’s benefit, secretly pushed for modifications to the White Training Grand Ceremony’s rules.

Requiring each player participating in the White Training Grand Ceremony to start with only 45 Undead provided by Bailian City.

This situation seems fair and just on the surface, but when things happen, he is at a loss.

It’s unclear why both Qiufeng City upstream and Cold Leaf City downstream want to participate in the Grand Ceremony this time.

Their reason claims that White Silk Lake is closely related to them as well, so they want to participate in the White Training Grand Ceremony too.

You do know the situation of the upstream and downstream cities, right?”

”I do, Qiufeng City is eerie, and Cold Leaf City modifies bodies.”

Gu Xi was well aware of the local cities’ situations, and it could be said that the cities around White Silk Lake had no positive direction.

Qiufeng City upstream, like Bailian City, was full of creeping yin; however, they seldom produce Undead Mages or Death Knights, they followed a system of eeriness, playing by the rules.

The main professions were known as Order Mage and Chaos Warrior.

Order Mages could use rules to harness eerie forces they had tamed to kill enemies, while Chaos Warriors destroyed all eeriness in front of them by borrowing chaotic power.

This time, they were mainly sending Order Mages to the Grand Ceremony, but unlike the restricted Undead Mages, Qiufeng City’s Order Mages had no restrictions — how much eerie power they acquired after graduating in-game, they could bring.

Not like Bailian City with its artificial restrictions.

The other side, Cold Leaf City, followed the path of Demons and Demon Sorcerers.

Slaughter and sacrifice were their mainstream gameplay.

They also were not affected by city guilds this time, bringing the benefits acquired after graduating.

It could be said their presence caught Steel Ghost Claw’s vice-guild leader off guard.
