Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 268: Chapter 266: Battle of the Yaliduvi Tower

Under Gu Xi’s command, his undead quickly sprang into action.

Arroyo was the first to lead his troops towards the area with the most enemies.

From the battle at Victoria City, Arroyo had already figured out the path he needed to take.

Relentless attacking was his strongest ability, but figuring out how to keep his gunners alive was a lesson unto itself.

Arroyo now had a plan; as long as he could retain the skills he had just mastered, his vision would become a reality.

The time was ripe, and Arroyo’s idea was to kill more enemies, gaining more experience with each one.

Once all these foes were slain, the levels of his skeleton gunners could increase even further, making his troops more powerful.

With this thought in mind, Arroyo went on a killing frenzy.

At the same time, Gu Xi also realized what skill Arroyo had inadvertently acquired.

Though the time for Bone Shield had long passed, a layer of black ash still surrounded the skeleton gunners under Arroyo’s command.

As they advanced, the black ash would swirl around them, much like a Bone Shield.

However, Gu Xi didn’t think this layer of black ash had any defensive power; instead, its presence made it harder for the enemy to target the skeleton gunners, making it easier for them to miss their attacks.

This greatly increased the survival ability of the skeleton gunners.

It’s a unique way to enhance defense.

Even though this skill was still taking shape, Gu Xi had already spotted its potential.

Even if Arroyo didn’t mention it, Gu Xi would have immediately arranged for him to be stationed as soon as there was a new base.

Arroyo didn’t know about Gu Xi’s thoughts; at this moment, his mind was focused on just one word: ’Experience.’

Seeing more enemies appear around him, he led his skeleton gunners in one direction and charged ahead.

Arroyo’s sudden attack made the enemies near Gu Xi’s team react, quickly turning their attention to the undead corps, dragging everything into a chaotic melee.

At this moment, Robbie and his men played a crucial role; they were ideal for chaotic battles as skeleton two-handed swordsmen, chopping with their swords whether alone or in groups.

Robbie’s presence provided sufficient support for the skeleton two-handed swordsmen, giving them a clear attack direction.

”Clear these guys out first, and protect the archer team and magic corps behind us.”

As they spoke, the skeleton shooters and skeleton mages also began to attack.

They had no choice but to act, as the enemy almost reached them, and delaying any longer would mean no opportunity to attack.

Even the Withered joined in to control the situation, holding the enemy at bay.

This allowed Gu Xi to witness the Withered’s other abilities beyond just being a support unit.

They could throw their spear staffs, albeit at a short distance, but their attack power wasn’t weak.

Most importantly, they could poison.

Gu Xi was skeptical, though; were these deceitful shadows afraid of such poison?

Gu Xi expressed considerable doubt.

At the same time, Gu Xi’s hands moved swiftly, deploying the final zombie axe and shield soldiers and the last combat squad, forcibly pushing the nearby enemies out, finally clearing the battlefield and keeping the fight on his troops’ periphery.

Only then did Gu Xi have the opportunity to look at the enemies on the battlefield.

Just like when Yaliduvi Tower fell earlier, Gu Xi noticed something similar.

The enemies were clearly divided into two groups.

One group was sacrificial offerings. When they were offered, their bodies and spirits had already become distorted, and with the influence of the Mirror Image, they could no longer be considered human.

At the same time, they weren’t the world’s typical deceitful shadows; in their current state, they just looked like abnormal zombies.

As offerings, they had no weapons or armor, attacking only with their claws and mouths.

Usually, they overwhelmed with numbers, surging like a tide, intimidating the enemy with their sheer momentum.

As a result, their battles were typically quite successful.

But this time it was different; they encountered Gu Xi, who had even faced a zombie siege in Victoria City.

Thousands of constantly reviving coal slag couldn’t halt Gu Xi’s attack, so could these 1,500 sacrifices?

Gu Xi was about to show them what it truly meant to be a sacrifice.

Once the enemies were kept outside, Gu Xi, without even calling in the Red Dragon hovering above, directly took action.

First, a skeleton priest healed his forces, boosting their strength.

Then Gu Xi immediately released the Bone Storm.

Now, the Bone Storm’s power was even greater, and after several battles, Gu Xi had developed strategies for where to cast Bone Storm and in which direction to move it.

Unlike before, Gu Xi no longer actively controlled the Bone Storm’s path.

Gu Xi now unleashed four or five Bone Storms at once, designating a specific area for them to whirl around.

As for not killing enemies, that was impossible.

With the Bone Storm’s power, even a ghost could be slain, let alone these enemies, whose levels weren’t as high as imagined.

As soon as the Bone Storm was unleashed, some of the enemies were immediately swept up.

This relieved Gu Xi’s forces considerably, as the skeleton shooters and skeleton mages launched attacks.

Under the boss’s command, they could accurately lock onto enemies, focusing their attacks, while also quickly assessing the situation, avoiding random scattering like before.

With the combination of increased precision and reduced scattering, Gu Xi’s troops quickly gained the upper hand.

However, those deceitful individuals weren’t so easily dealt with.

Seeing their surprise attack unable to trouble Gu Xi, they actually switched tactics.

The cultists, still in black robes, charged towards the twisted sacrifices with daggers, stabbing the sacrifices.

At this moment, the sacrifices seemed to recall the fear of being sacrificed.

They suddenly went berserk, leaping into Gu Xi’s team.

The sacrifices constantly bit at the undead around them, sometimes pouncing atop them, trying to tear them apart.

Watching the sacrifices’ madness, the black-robed cultists were quite ecstatic.

They believed Gu Xi would now be helpless.

But they couldn’t have been more wrong; as an Undead Mage, why would one care about the life and death of the undead?

In this situation, Gu Xi pointed the Cold Wind Staff forward.

”Secondary Corpse Burst!”
