Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 292: Chapter 290: Withdrawing from the Rankings, Official Hostility

But the bizarre demons truly overestimated their own power and combat capabilities.

The wooden sticks they thrashed down didn’t break through the skeleton soldiers’ shields; instead, they were defended against.

Taking advantage of this opportunity, the skeleton soldiers counterattacked and thrust a sword into the demons’ bodies. Finally, one demon was struck down by multiple skeleton soldiers, ending up lifeless on the ground.

[Your skeleton soldiers (Level 4, Summoned Creatures) have killed the Wild Mountain Evil Ghost (Level 2), you gain 1 point of experience (1 point overflow stored), Combat Squad gains 1 point of experience, Summoned Creatures gain 6 points of experience.]

Wild Mountain Evil Ghost?

Looking at the information that popped up, Gu Xi figured out the name of this bizarre demon.

He also learned that this creature does not belong to Cold Leaf City.

It seems the players did not appear on the night battlefield immediately.

”Kill them all!”

With the situation understood, Gu Xi no longer held back and issued commands to his subordinates.

skeleton soldiers against 14 Wild Mountain Evil Ghosts should be more than enough, while the ghosts didn’t continue the siege but took the opportunity to float around and explore.

It’s apparent they are exploring the surroundings.

Originally, this was the Stone Golem’s task, but during the last fight against the crows, all Stone Golems were wiped out. This week, no new Stone Golems have spawned yet, so Gu Xi doesn’t have any high-speed flying team. Thus, ghosts become the only option for Gu Xi to scout the path.

As the ghosts flew out, Gu Xi also raised the Cold Wind Staff in his hand.

”Soul Summoning Skill!”

A Soul Summoning Skill was cast, and the body of the just-killed Wild Mountain Evil Ghost moved a bit, turning into a wooden stick zombie standing up from the ground.

The new zombie’s skin was dark red, and it was noticeably bigger than a regular zombie.

[You successfully used the Soul Summoning Skill and obtained a Wooden Stick Zombie (Level 2), Soul Summoning Skill experience 1 point.]

[Wooden Stick Zombie (Level 2, Summoned Creatures): Experience (0/300), Attack 3, Defense 4, Life 15, Skills: Stun.]

Looking at the popped-up information, Gu Xi rolled his eyes, ”Useless waste!”

Although he wasn’t fond of this Wooden Stick Zombie’s attributes and information, when it’s time to summon souls, Gu Xi still has to use soul summoning.

After all, Gu Xi planned to replenish his forces, letting his subordinates fight while he focused on soul summoning.

After Gu Xi summoned a Wooden Stick Zombie, it immediately joined the attack against its former companions.

This caused the morale of those Wild Mountain Evil Ghosts to drop rapidly, and soon the fourteen Wild Mountain Evil Ghosts turned into nine new Wooden Stick Zombies.

Seeing the ghosts hadn’t returned, Gu Xi didn’t wait for them, and with a push of the Main City Gate behind him, gathered the Wooden Stick Zombies and skeleton soldiers back.

At the same time, he casually picked up a seemingly unimpressive piece of equipment—a necklace resembling teeth.

[You acquired the treasure, Evil Ghost’s Fang. Since you have exited the rankings, you cannot gain any points.]

[Evil Ghost’s Fang: After killing an evil ghost, you can extract its fangs. During the day, you can command the fangs to attack nearby humans or eerie beings.]

[Note: Do not use the fangs to command in crowds, as this action will be discovered by others.]

Gu Xi glanced at this thing and knew it was a treasure usable only in this world.

If he were still on the rankings, this item might have added one or two points, but now that he’s off the rankings, whether it adds points doesn’t matter. The ability to secretly strike during the day is this item’s true benefit.

After putting away the [Evil Ghost’s Fang], Gu Xi finally thought about the rankings.

He opened the rankings for a look and saw, as expected, that with the night battle commencing, most Bailian City players released their undead corps and exited the points rankings.

Now, only a few Bailian City players remain on the points rankings.

Among these players, Gu Xi saw a somewhat familiar name.

[Bailian City Song Sheng, Points 3, Ranked 33rd.]

That guy is still alive, which feels really good.

Gu Xi smiled and then turned his attention to players from other cities.

He now believes these players have already realized something is wrong.

If only one or two Bailian City players left the points rankings, they might think it’s due to Bailian City players encountering challenges and having no choice but to employ their undead or survival tactics.

Now, with many Bailian City players dropping out, only Qiufeng City and Cold Leaf City players remain on the points rankings. Anyone not foolish would quickly understand something is amiss here.

These players made what they believed to be the best choice immediately.

Hide.

This is the thought of Qiufeng City players.

At night, Qiufeng City players lack advantage as their combat power is weak, and they don’t have the forces like players from the other two cities.

All they can rely on is their inherent eerie entities and some bizarre tactics.

Thus, they chose to hide and observe the situation first.

However, everyone understands they cannot hide for too long.

It’s not personal; this world is like a huge granary for Qiufeng City players.

Inside the city roams the eerie entities they previously dared not even imagine.

For Qiufeng City players, who make a living by capturing and controlling eerie beings, this world is a massive treasure trove.

And the key to unlocking it is the nightly battles and exploration. If they can’t find the corresponding eerie entities to kill or control methods every night, they’ll just watch those eerie entities roam right in front of them.

A couple of days is manageable; they might diminish their presence due to Bailian City’s Undead Mage players’ antics and hide, then act during the day. But as time goes on, it’s uncertain if they’ll remain patient.

On one hand, eerie entities roam before them during the day, yet they lack methods to capture or kill them, causing frustration.

On the other hand, they will observe the Undead Mage’s combat strength relentlessly increasing through successive battles.

If they continue delaying, they’ll only face extermination.

When that time comes, they’ll appear in the night battlefield, but by then, this battlefield will likely have no place for them.

As for Cold Leaf City players, they differ from Qiufeng City players. They are battle-oriented players keen to engage the battlefield head-on, unbothered by involvement in the combat.

Thus, the players battling at night for the past couple of days are from Cold Leaf City.

For Gu Xi, it doesn’t matter who he fights. Even if players from the two cities don’t appear tonight, the Undead Mage’s battle won’t decrease in intensity.

All Undead Mages understand that the first two days after entering the game are the best time for mass slaughter and replenishing troops through soul summoning.

This world is a granary for Qiufeng City players, and equally, a massive treasure trove for Undead Mages.

Time should not be wasted.
