Undead Mage from a Cell

Chapter 288: Chapter 286: The Cities’ Tactics

During the conversation with Wudou Minami, Gu Xi learned some information and unspoken rules about this city.

These are things that could not be recorded or reflected in the normal information when he entered this world.

For example, Gu Xi always felt that the Celestial Dao White-robed Great Guanyin was watching him.

This actually wasn’t an illusion, but rather because Gu Xi was always paying attention to the Great Guanyin’s location, causing the Great Guanyin to react,

after all, the eerie phenomena of this world won’t notice you unless you pay attention to them.

It was precisely because of Gu Xi’s attention that the Great Guanyin focused a little bit of attention on him.

This was even though Gu Xi hadn’t made a move during the day, had he done something casually during the day, maybe the Great Guanyin would have already struck with a palm.

It can be said that Gu Xi being targeted by the Great Guanyin was entirely his own doing.

And it’s not that there wasn’t any fighting during the day.

Strange phenomena only appear during the day, and there are actually fights between them and mortals.

As long as your fight is secretive enough, without being discovered, it doesn’t count as a fight.

Just like how Gu Xi used the Spirit Lamp on the train, it followed this rule; it wasn’t discovered, so it didn’t count as a move.

Many Deceit Exterminators like to sneak into dark alleys during the day to ambush passing eerie phenomena.

However, compared to the situation during the day, Wudou Minami didn’t know much about what happens at night.

The only thing known is that every night, her guesthouse turns into a castle; the flowers and trees outside transform into city walls, and five hundred Stone Giants guard those walls.

With just the troops from her house, they could at most ensure self-preservation, unable to expand control any further.

Without confronting the situation at night directly, Gu Xi also couldn’t imagine what a chaotic Warring States night battle is like; he could only glean an idea from Wudou Minami’s descriptions.

Just as Gu Xi planned to rest before preparing to face the night battle situation, Wudou Minami suddenly looked out the window.

”My God, who is that.”

Gu Xi quickly stood by the window, discovering that there were actually people climbing the Celestial Dao White-robed Great Guanyin Statue.

”Those lunatics.”

Gu Xi instantly understood the identity of those climbing the Great Guanyin Statue; they were Order Mages from Qiufeng City.

As Order Mages, they understood the eerie phenomena the best, naturally targeting this world’s most central anomaly right away.

The 20th-level Celestial Dao White-robed Great Guanyin Statue.

If they can seize this Great Guanyin Statue, or even borrow a portion of its power, they could become unbeatable in this White Training Grand Ceremony.

They cannot be allowed to succeed just like that.

A thought flashed through Gu Xi’s mind.

”Minami, I have something to attend to, I’ll be back before dinner tonight.”

”Wait.”

Wudou Minami grabbed Gu Xi.

”What is it?”

Gu Xi curiously glanced at Wudou Minami.

”Whatever you do, don’t run around outside at the transition from day to night, better to wait until it’s completely dark to come back; if you can’t find a cab when it’s dark, wave down those carriages with white lanterns.

Never sit in carriages with other colored lanterns.

And take this, or you won’t be able to get in at night.”

With that, Wudou Minami handed Gu Xi a red plank with the words ’Passage’ written on it.

[You have obtained the Wudou Family Passage Guardian, which allows you to freely enter and exit all rooms of the Wudou Family.]

”Okay, I got it.”

Gu Xi turned around and walked out of the guesthouse.

Walking down the street, Gu Xi briskly walked while pondering his course of action.

Rushing directly over to stop them certainly won’t work.

All players are hiding their identities right now, revealing oneself at this time would be making oneself a target.

Gu Xi doesn’t rule out the possibility that the players challenging the Celestial Dao White-robed Great Guanyin Statue might be bait set up by other players from Qiufeng City.

So rushing there is necessary, but jumping in to physically stop and dismantle them would be foolish.

He has to come up with a way, some alternative thinking to deal with these high-leaping players.

As Gu Xi hurried along, a message suddenly popped up in front of him.

[Wu Hetong from Bailian City violated regulations, was judged as cheating, and removed from the ranking board.]

Gu Xi was stunned for a moment, then looked up towards the Celestial Dao White-robed Great Guanyin Statue.

He noticed that around those climbing players, each of them had four Ghosts hanging like hanged spirits as companions.

These Ghosts didn’t attack them, just hovered around them.

Wu Hetong was the owner of these Ghosts, he didn’t use the undead from his Soldier Token, instead, he mobilized his own subordinates, which naturally violated the bullshit new rules of Bailian City this year, losing the chance for ranking points.

But he didn’t care about these at all.

Wu Hetong was just waiting for the Celestial Dao White-robed Great Guanyin Statue to see these Ghosts and judge him and these players in daytime combat status.

Once this judgment comes, Wu Hetong will immediately crush the tool in his hand to surrender and leave this world.

After returning, he can brag to his guild leaders that he took on five and managed to take down five players from Qiufeng City.

Given the typical behavior of their guild leaders, they will most likely compensate for his losses and give him some perks.

Although he couldn’t complete other tasks, this victory lies in its safety.

And he didn’t bring a Soldier Token with him; ranking was irrelevant to him from the start, sitting safely outside watching the drama with a hero title was much better.

Wu Hetong didn’t know that when he made his move, there were several Undead Mage players nearby lamenting, how such a good opportunity was taken ahead of them.

Meanwhile, Wu Hetong also noticed that the Celestial Dao White-robed Great Guanyin Statue was opening its eyes, slowly lowering its head to observe the events unfolding in front of it.

The suddenly appearing Undead entities were a provocation to it, but what was the situation with those people being surrounded by Ghosts, why were they hanging in mid-air motionlessly.

Actually, the Celestial Dao White-robed Great Guanyin Statue didn’t understand that the five were not unwilling to move, but their every escape route was blocked by Ghosts.

If they moved even a bit, they would touch the Ghosts.

At that point, the Ghosts would automatically determine they initiated an attack.

If they remained still, they still had a chance for the Celestial Dao White-robed Great Guanyin Statue to take action to eliminate the Ghosts along with the Undead Mage who released them.

If they moved, the names of those five would be on the eliminated list.

But Wu Hetong gambled his life to get this chance, avoiding it now for those guys was impossible.

He tightened his grip on his tool and loudly commanded, ”Ghosts, make a scary face!”

All the Ghosts stared at the players with dead fish eyes.

Finally, one player couldn’t stand it and shouted, ”Get away from me!”

Then the other players immediately started attacking around them, shouting, ”We are strange phenomena, we are strange phenomena!”
