My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2349: Chapter 2182: Taking Things to Heart

Perhaps I’m just being too particular about these things.

”Zhihan, I know this is how you choose to discipline your child, and maybe I shouldn’t say anything, but I want you to understand one thing: disciplining a child should be done in moderation. If you suddenly become stricter with him, he will inevitably grow to resent you and lose trust in you. You are his mother; you should know your son’s personality—he has never told a lie about anything since he was young. There is surely a reason why he’s come home so late today, so don’t blame him anymore. Many things are best left as they are for harmony; the more you push, the more he’ll take it to heart. Don’t let unnecessary problems damage the peace between you and your son. I can see that your son cares deeply about you; he values his mother highly. Despite what you’ve said to him, he didn’t dare to cry or make a fuss; instead, he quietly went upstairs to reflect on his own. This proves that your child isn’t malicious, and he’s not lying. You shouldn’t accuse him of lying without evidence. Perhaps what he said is true, about that strange grandmother who stopped him from coming home. I plan to get to the bottom of this. I hope you’ll give it some thought and reconsider whether your way of discipline is truly good for him—whether it’s truly for his sake or for another reason. I understand your feelings, especially given how your parents abandoned your family and left me here, which left you feeling very unbalanced. But these events have passed for so long; let’s not dwell on past happiness anymore. The most important thing is for us to live happily together as a family. Let those painful memories fade away with time; don’t revisit them...”

”Grandpa says that, but does your heart truly accept it? Why should our parents disappear like that without a word? Why don’t they want to be with us even for a day? Why must they act selfishly as they did before even though they are grown now? Time has passed day by day, five years in the blink of an eye. My child is already five years old, and during his development, he yearned for his grandparents to be by his side, to see them once. But what he received was repeated longing, turning to hope, and then to despair. He grew strong amid others’ harm; he’s never cried in sorrow, thinking that by becoming strong, maybe his grandparents would come back to him. Is that belief wrong? Many times, I don’t know how to describe my child. I can’t understand why his temper is so stubborn, when many things could easily be resolved, yet his heart can’t let them go. I know even though he’s young, he’s honestly very pained inside.”

”I understand that’s exactly why I hope you treat him well. Don’t scold or blame him over things that shouldn’t be. He’s your child, not an exchange, not a possession. He’ll also be heartbroken and shed tears because of our actions. Do you really think repeated correction won’t make him sad? We all know that everyone’s growth is unique, encountering different experiences. Since fate has chosen for him to go through this, then let him experience it. Maybe it will be the best outcome for him; his heart might find balance. Don’t dwell on things that make us unhappy; living joyful lives together is enough, and let unnecessary burdens completely disappear. It’s truly painful to repeatedly revisit these matters.”

”Yichen, grandpa wants to talk to you, too. Actually, grandpa understands very well how difficult and painful your situation is. But should you just watch your wife discipline your son without a word? Do you think your wife’s discipline is always right, or are you just being compliant without speaking up? Many times, there’s no need to let things get so tense; haven’t you noticed your son doesn’t dare to speak in front of you? He hopes his parents can love him selflessly, not reprimand him over trivial matters. Do you conduct yourself this way as parents? I want to ask you: during all our years growing up together, did I ever scold you or mistreat you over any bad situation? Do you not realize you’re making your son upset? Honestly, we reap what we sow—the way you treat your son is how he’ll treat you in return, even though you are his parents. He doesn’t ask for much, just for a happy, peaceful family. But that wish seems too hard for him this lifetime; his grandparents have never been around since he was born. How could his heart not be pained? With such a wounded soul, why do you continue to discipline him so harshly?”

”Grandpa, I don’t think that way. I just feel he’s my son, should he not obey his parents’ discipline? It’s late at night and he’s gone out with some accident happening—what are we supposed to do? How can we handle his obliviousness? Honestly, being a parent is awfully tough; we worry about our children not having enough to eat or staying warm. We fear they might get hurt, but we must care for them, keeping them from being sad or upset. Don’t you find being a parent is extremely hard? I’ve truly tried my best being a father to my son, but today’s incident really angered me. I didn’t expect him to act this way at all...”

If I let go, wouldn’t she stay with me?
