My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2345: Chapter 2178: Convergence

Happy moments in life always catch you off guard, turning your life into what it is now.

They were talking here and somehow Old Master Zhang heard them from outside. He felt he should intervene in the matter. He couldn’t just sit by and let his beloved little boy be wronged. He knew that even though he wasn’t standing in front of him right now, the little boy must be deeply aggrieved. He had grievances he couldn’t express; he couldn’t contradict his parents. His father was even more severe than his mother. Although his father never lost his temper with him or disciplined him physically, the little boy knew very well that his biological father was a most formidable economic ruler, not someone to be trifled with. So, he couldn’t bring himself to anger him.

Old Master Zhang opened the door and entered his grandson’s bedroom. He saw his little boy already tearful but not daring to utter a word. Feeling heartbroken, he quickly sent the boy out. He wanted to have a proper talk with his grandson and granddaughter-in-law about this issue. Things couldn’t go on like this, or his little boy would never have happy times again.

”Grandpa, why did you come to my room so late at night instead of sleeping? Was our scolding of the child too loud and disturbed your rest? Don’t worry. We won’t scold the child now. Please go back and rest. Remember to wear an extra layer when you go out because it’s getting colder. Don’t catch a cold and be sure to put more blankets on when you sleep at night. The weather’s getting colder. Grandpa, I know you worry a lot about me, but I hope you also take good care of yourself. If you don’t take care of yourself, how can you take care of us? You are my spiritual pillar. If one day you suddenly left, how could I bear such a heavy blow in my heart? I hope you can take care of yourself for my sake, alright?”

Old Master Zhang originally came in to talk to his grandson, but before he could speak, his grandson interjected with such a long speech. He knew he, this old man, was definitely the spiritual pillar of his treasured grandson. His grandson couldn’t bear the heavy blow of losing him; he had painstakingly raised him. The person he was most grateful to in this life was himself. If one day he did end up in a coffin, what would become of his grandson? His grandson was right; if he couldn’t even take care of himself, how could they have the ability to care for the people they cherished?

”Don’t worry; you’ll also take good care of yourself. I came here today because I wanted to tell you something. I want to talk to you about your son. I heard your educational methods from outside the door, but I hope you understand this: What happened to you in the past may not necessarily happen to him again. I know you’re doing this to prevent him from living a joyless life in the future. But do you know? You never talked to him about what you went through, so how could he possibly know what you experienced? If he encounters a problem you’ve faced before, he might just end up falling into the same trap as if playing a game. If things get out of hand then, what will you do? Often one has to carefully consider if such actions are even beneficial, or if they could harm him?”

”Grandpa, I know you’re saying this for our own good, and it’s also for my child’s good. But wouldn’t this turn love into indulgence? You know how harmful young love can be, turning a once ambitious youth into a passive and decadent person. How can I be at ease with that? How can I let my son become a passive and decadent person because of my actions? If so, wouldn’t I be failing as a biological father? Knowing exactly what kind of life my son wants, yet giving him something different instead, isn’t that harming him?” ℯ

”You have a point, but do you really believe this won’t hurt him? Even though he could happily live his own life, you’re forcibly intervening. How do you think your son feels inside? Don’t always follow your subjective feelings. You should consider your loved ones’ feelings too. By deciding his life course so early, what do you leave him to think? Often one shouldn’t presume their actions are always right because, in others’ eyes, you might be wrong. This indirectly denies others’ views, indirectly controlling others’ lives. You are not the sovereign ruler of his life. You can only govern your own life, not decisively determine what kind of life he should lead. This will make him a decadent person for the rest of his life...”

”Grandpa, I know you’re saying all this for everyone’s good, but sometimes we need to make decisions. We can’t just let his life drift naturally. Who knows what the final outcome will be? To achieve what I have today, do you know what I went through? How hard it was? You’re not unaware of it. If my son wants his grandparents to know she’s not the worst, he has to endure some suffering. Only through hardship can he slowly grow, and only then won’t his grandparents look down on him so much. I know how much impact there is on his heart because his grandparents never appeared like this. There’s been a shadow in his heart his entire life, and this shadow may change with this leap of growth. But it may also stay unchanged for a lifetime.”

Old Master Zhang fully understood the stakes, but these weren’t matters he could decide upon. Every person’s life is different, and one cannot learn to control others’ lives. Doing so not only harms oneself but others as well. Why should one be so decisively focused on ruling over someone else’s life? Others should walk their own path step by step. Only then can they grow slowly. But how should one manage this matter? Could it be that his love for his child had truly turned into indulgence?

Many things are ordinary, but as long as you have everything, it’s enough!
