My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2331: Chapter 2164: The Past

The shape of life is created by oneself.

”As long as you’ve understood, that’s good. Grandpa said those words yesterday, although he didn’t directly say them to you, it seems they still reminded you, allowing you to reconcile again, and I’m already very happy about this.

Do you know? Grandpa has commanded wind and rain for way too many years in his life, but in the end, didn’t expect to be defeated by his own grandson. His grandson, as soon as he takes the stage, becomes an economic king, even more remarkable than this grandpa!

Child, I hope you can remember what grandpa said. No matter how much time grandpa has left in the future, or what kind of ending he will face, grandpa hopes you two can work together and support each other. Many things cannot be obtained merely by force, I’ve realized that now. Since my own son is unwilling to return to my side and be with me, then I will regard him as if he doesn’t exist, completely abandon him, giving him the freedom he desires. He can wander the world and never return, because he is no longer my son. Although saying these words may hurt feelings, I truly don’t want to continue being tortured by him!

I gave so much for him, gradually abandoning everything I wanted, step by step. Do you know? He is my biological son, yet myself as a father, am not recognized by my own son. Do you know how painful that is internally?

There is something you have always been unaware of, I hope to tell you this secret now, and you can bury this secret deep inside, never letting it out.

You have always been curious, haven’t you, about why I want my son to return to me, to accompany me, yet I also don’t want him by my side, right? I want him to be with me because I hope that when I die, my biological son will be there to see me off. I don’t want to lie alone in a cold coffin, while my son is nowhere to be found, leaving me lonely as I walk down the road to the underworld. And I don’t want him to come back because I fear that the pain will be too overwhelming for him when I leave. I have done everything for him, but ultimately, don’t get the desired outcome. Now, I’ve completely understood that you can’t force him back into my life. Before, I just wished for him to accompany me a bit longer, to enjoy some family joy, that was enough. Now, he has rejected me, and I will thoroughly abandon him...”

Zhang Yichen, although he had known for a long time that everything his grandpa did was for his biological father, when his grandpa spoke these words, his heart was nonetheless incredulous. For his biological father, he did so much, yet ultimately was hurt by him so much. Still, he never bore resentment.

Really don’t know when his father will come to understand, relatives are the greatest treasure and happiness he possesses in this life. Perhaps he will never understand it for his entire life. If, tonight, they truly sever all ties, what will he do afterward? If one day he uncovers the truth, how will he bear all this pain, what will he do then?

Old Master Zhang, seeing his grandson with a soul seemingly out of his body, knew his grandson must be pondering what to do about his son in the future. But he had no choice but to proceed in this way, for although the doctor didn’t explicitly say this time, he too knew his time was limited. A sudden heart attack happened; he originally didn’t have a heart condition, but this sudden heart attack was due to an issue with his heart—a tumor grew on it. Though it’s still unclear whether this tumor is benign or malignant, he doesn’t want such matters to continue anymore. For everyone, perhaps giving up might be the best outcome. He has already admitted that his son can wander and never appear again in his life, treating him as if he doesn’t exist.

Old Master Zhang clearly understands that if the tumor on his heart is benign, he can live a few more years. But if it’s malignant, his life might only have less than a few months left, or just one or two years. He knows during those one or two years he will endure immense pain, step by step facing the abyss of pain, ultimately painfully dying!

This cruel fact, he cannot tell his grandson. He cannot let the grandson he raised so painstakingly endure such pain. He cannot do it, so he can only hide the illness behind his smiles, letting no one discover it so that his grandson can peacefully live his life without suffering more because of this old man.

”Alright, it’s getting late now, your son is waiting for you at home, don’t leave him alone there. Although he might not be afraid, he needs mom and dad’s company too, you should go home and accompany him. If anything comes up here, I’ll call you, I want to rest for a while now, feeling a bit tired!”

”Grandpa, then we’ll take our leave first, you rest well here by yourself and call me if anything happens, I’ll rush right over!”

”Go ahead!”

After Zhang Yichen and Ran Zhihan left, Old Master Zhang watched them drive away from the hospital, then slowly walked to the doctor’s office.

”Director Zhang, I want to ask, what’s wrong with my heart? I hope you don’t say there’s nothing wrong. I know my own body, I hope you can tell me clearly!”

Director Zhang’s father and Old Master Zhang were close friends; technically, Director Zhang should call Old Master Zhang Uncle Shi!

”Uncle Shi, it’s still uncertain for now, but we can definitely say one thing—there’s an issue with your heart, a tumor exists there. Whether it’s benign or malignant, we really can’t determine at the moment, I’ll notify you when the results come out in a few days, okay?”

”Alright, do let me know when the results come out, and there’s something I need help with—please keep this matter confidential and don’t tell my grandson. I don’t want them to worry or bear such pain, I only hope to happily watch them in the time I have left. Happiness is enough, I don’t wish for a good outcome in the end despite the pain worsening, I just hope he can live happily!”

”I understand, rest assured, I will keep this matter confidential!”

Action is more important than emotion.
