My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2311: Chapter 2144: The Joy of Life

The joy of life is created by oneself.

”Nai’er, it was indeed Dad who made a mistake on this matter, but can you try to understand Dad from his perspective? I’ve indeed neglected your mom during this period, but it wasn’t intentional. You know we’ve had many family issues lately.

There are some things Dad didn’t wish to happen, but when they did, we had no way to avoid them. Every person has to pay some price for their actions. Our current situation is really challenging. Having your grandparents come back to live here is something we all hoped for. We should let them live peacefully in this house instead of blaming them for every problem that arises. How can they have a happy and peaceful life if we do? We should all consider their feelings, right?

Dad knows you’re hurt deeply about your mom’s depression. It’s due to my negligence, my lack of care for her, that led to this outcome. But it truly wasn’t intentional. I also wish for her to live healthily. Yet who would’ve thought that because I ignored her and forgot about her, she’d end up like this? I’m really sorry about this!”

”Dad, it’s not me you should apologize to for what I did; you should talk to Grandpa. I believe he’ll surely stand by Mom’s side. Nobody expected this to make Mom sick and end up in the hospital.

This isn’t the result we wanted. Everyone wishes for every family member to live happily and healthily, but now that things have turned out this way, the person you should apologize to the most isn’t me. It’s your Grandpa. You should think about how much he cares about Mom, because she worked so hard to bring me into this world. Why don’t you ever consider her difficulties from her perspective? You always think from your standpoint, desiring everything you’ve ever wanted, building your happiness on others’ pain. Do you think you can find peace of mind like that?”

Zhang Yichen felt very embarrassed by his son’s words, unable to rebut him. It was indeed his mistake. If it wasn’t for his negligence, if he hadn’t neglected his wife, how could things have turned out like this? If this all truly has to do with him, wouldn’t he be a sinner through the ages? How should he explain this to his grandfather?

Deep down, he knew perfectly well how much his Grandpa cared about her, how much he cared if everyone in the family could live stably. Yet with things turning out this way, his Grandpa would never let it go. Perhaps he really should talk to Grandpa, allowing him to understand the ins and outs of everything, or else big problems could arise in the end.

”Rest assured, I will speak to my Grandpa about this. Don’t worry too much. None of this is your concern. It’s my fault your mom ended up this way. If you feel something’s amiss, you can come to me. There’s no need to mention anything to your grandparents. They had no idea Mom would end up like this because of this matter. Everything was unknown. Nobody wished for anything like this to happen to anyone in our family.”

”Dad, just calm down. Rest assured, I won’t say anything about all of this to my grandparents. I won’t ask or mention a word about it. How this should be resolved is up to you. If the resolution makes everyone in the family feel it’s unfair, then all I can say is that we have no means to solve what is allegedly everything.”

Zhang Yichen knew, this was his son’s warning to him. If he couldn’t restore things to how they used to be, he would face punishment from Grandpa, whose personality he knew all too well. His Grandpa couldn’t tolerate the family turning out like this. However, everything was now beyond his control, leaving him no way to predict or restore things to their former state. He could only quietly bear the risk his son posed to him. At this moment, he realized just how terrifying his son could be. If he had just cared a little more about his wife back then and paid more attention to her life, would his son not have gotten the upper hand? Would his son not have had anything to hold against him as a father?

Zhang Ni said nothing. He turned away and left, feeling he’d said enough to his father today. He had never been so polite to anyone before. If these matters hadn’t concerned his father, he would’ve brought this person down entirely. But now he realized it wasn’t something he could intervene in easily. These were matters of his parents’ relationship. If their relationship could endure any hardship, things wouldn’t have turned out like this. All the pain and suffering must be borne by them. If it all ends up beyond their control, it just means it was destined to be their ordeal to endure.

Suddenly, Zhang Yichen felt he was really an unworthy husband. Why did it never occur to him to care more about his wife’s life, even after she fell ill? If he had just cared a bit more about her life, his wife wouldn’t have gone mad like this. Everything was caused by his negligence, leading to this ending. What difference was there between him and his parents, other than bringing harm to his family and nothing else, falsely believing he was strong enough to bring happiness and joy to every family member? Now everything was just beginning.

A joyful life is the most beautiful pleasure. A life without joy is incomplete!
