My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2347: Chapter 2180: Ultimately Empty

But in the end, we still made all this turn to nothing in this misplaced time and space.

How could Zhang Zhentian not understand the meaning behind the words spoken by his son? As a father, he knows his own son the best, yet he chose to say nothing and quietly accepted every word his child said to him, humbly hoping his child would genuinely forgive him. He hoped his son would let him stay in the home, and only then could he truly lay down the burdens inside his heart, feeling that he wasn’t so deeply guilty.

Back then, he abandoned his entire family and clan for his selfish interests, causing his father to suffer countless hardships while he, as a son, happily lived his own life elsewhere. What right did he have to ask for his father’s abundant love? Why did he repeatedly make his loved ones sad and tearful because of his actions, while he remained indifferent?

Zhang Zhentian knows that not everyone in the world is cold-hearted; originally, everyone is quite soft-hearted. If someone eventually becomes cold-hearted, it only shows they have endured too much harm and too many setbacks, making them have no choice but to become wary like a hedgehog, to protect themselves well and not accept any harm from others. Only then, perhaps, could they happily live to the end without accepting any harm from anyone. Living happily as such, but who knows, even though such a person feels they haven’t been hurt by others, they still lead a lonely life since no hurt equates to no friends, living alone all life, ending up with nothing.

”Son, I know what you mean by these words. As a father, nothing is more understanding than my own child. What you say is just hoping that we’ll stay home and accompany, letting your grandfather live his life happily. I know you are a dutiful child, every act and move we all watch, though we have never intervened because we trust every decision you make is right, as your eyes are as bright as your grandfather’s. Every decision you make will not have any errors or deviations. I trust you will have achievements in your career, so certainly no less achievements in your life!”

Once, my abandonment caused indelible harm, but you being able to forgive me has truly made me happy and content. I am not a demanding person; having family beside me is enough. I have rarely gone through such experiences in this lifetime, always protected and living happily, and such a life might be mundane for me, but for you, it feels tragic.

I must admit, the hardships your father endured over the years are beyond anyone’s comprehension. Perhaps you find my words deceitful, but have you thought why I tell you these words and not others? Because I believe my own son won’t take them as a joke. Throughout these years, I’ve never shared my encounters with anyone, not even your mother. She doesn’t know how painful my life actually has been. Inside, I’ve constantly agonized, tormenting myself, not believing I would end up abandoning you all!”

”Do you think these words of yours now have any significance? Any meaning? Does saying these words not make you feel guilty? Have you never felt ashamed inside for these words? Now you tell me you never think about what you’ve done, but if you chose to do it back then, you shouldn’t be saying these words today. Saying these words only makes others look down on you. Tell me why you looked at the cause back then? Leaving is leaving, abandoning your family is abandonment, unforgivable as repeated mistakes are. Why should others forgive you time and again? Should others just accept suffering by your hand repeatedly?

Since I’ve said I sincerely forgive you today, then under no circumstances will I say anything to make you look bad, but also hope you don’t push my limits. Everyone has a bottom line in patience, and when one’s patience runs dry, why happily exist in this world? I know these words are unpleasant for you, seem like bullying, but have you pondered over your actions over the years, who did you wrong in them? Do you think you’ve found happiness outside, gotten everything desired, but looking back, have you really attained what you sought these years?

For every action is still fueled by selfishness, abandoning family and friends for personal gain. People like you likely don’t know real heartache; each expression might be feigned, but I’m willing to trust my grandfather. I believe my grandfather because I want to give him happy later years, wishing his son and daughter-in-law return home; no matter my reluctance, I’ll have you home because I want to repay him for nurturing and guiding me all these years. I’ve never forgotten every lesson from grandpa; I’ve kept them in my heart because grandpa has allowed me to achieve this much. I believe, I also believe you will realize your mistakes someday and wish to return to us, living stable family life together, but I hope you don’t interfere in any decision originally made by our family!”

Despite the air thick with mutual heartache between us, in the end, we still embraced, even though difficult, even though you now escaped, I still wait for you.
