My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2305: Chapter 2138: Letting Go

Perhaps the value of life lies in constantly creating a wonderful life of one’s own.

To be honest, Xia Jing felt just as bad deep down, and he also hoped that his family could forgive him and sincerely welcome him back into the family. But some things can’t be solved so easily with a few simple words. The harm inflicted in the past, how is it possible for them to just talk and forget?

She knew if it were her, it wouldn’t be so easy to completely let go of everything. He holds grudges, but his actions have chilled nearly everyone to the bone. Are all his actions really without faults? Does nobody know what he truly wants? He has never truly contemplated what kind of life he wants for himself.

He always feels that he must follow the crowd, yet he wants to differentiate himself even while following the crowd. He wants everyone to know he’s unique.

When he decided to become a Mercenary, he realized his path was already different from everyone else’s. His road is too tough and dangerous, while others only seek stability in life. She lives life on the edge, knowing that such days are the most thrilling for him, afraid he wouldn’t experience them after marriage, so he chose this path. But who would’ve known, her husband remarried into the life of a Mercenary and treated her so well.

How could he refuse, then? How could a man be so dedicated that it wouldn’t move him?

”Zhihan, you really don’t blame your father for this. He has no ill intentions in doing what he did. Over the years, his suffering was no less than yours. At least you had family to reconnect with, but he was alone outside. Although I understand that saying this seems unfair to you. The decision he made was his choice, a wrong path. You can’t blame anyone. But he realized his actions were a huge mistake; he never imagined he would endure so much pain and torment.”

I believe the one you love most is not him, but me. If I hadn’t forcibly insisted on leaving with her, how could these things happen? If I hadn’t suggested going on this adventure together, he wouldn’t have said those words to me later, taking me away from this home. Everything should be blamed on me; all the mistakes were caused by me alone. I can’t blame him. You can’t blame your father; he did nothing wrong. It was me all along who was at fault. It’s my fault that turned you into this. It’s my fault your family suffered so much pain. It’s my fault your beloved husband ended up like this. It’s my fault your love suffered pain and torment over and over again!

Zhihan, you’re a wonderful daughter-in-law, far better than me in many ways. But some things I hope to clarify with you. I hope you don’t blame your father. Whatever he did, he did no wrong. You should be angry at me. All things occurred because of me alone. How can I bear all the pain alone and let her share everything while I just benefit from the sidelines? I truly cannot do it!”

Ran Zhihan understood that Xia Jing saying this to him was not easy at all. Why demand more from him this time? Everyone makes mistakes, but as long as you acknowledge and correct them, who can always hold onto past grievances?

”Mom, I didn’t mean to blame you. I just think the world is unfair. Others have parents by their side, but why can’t my husband? Why can others laugh happily, and my husband has to wipe tears in secret? I’m unwilling for him to face such a result.

I believe deep down you feel the same as me. She is so exceptional, flawless, perfect, but why does she have to endure all this pain?

I don’t blame you or anyone else. I blame myself for being too weak when I met him that day, unable to protect her. If I could have protected her that day, I wouldn’t have let these things happen. I would have kept her happy by my side, ensured she never left me in this lifetime, and avoided us from being apart for so many years.

Mom, since you chose to return to this family, you should commit to making the right choice. If you continue to leave home impulsively, chasing freedom and soaring skies, then you are terribly mistaken. If you make such a decision again, I’m not worried whether you’ll come back. I only fear whether everyone in this family can accept you again.”

How could Xia Jing not understand the meaning behind Ran Zhihan’s words? He knows what his daughter-in-law said was all for his own good. But there are things he couldn’t control, being overly attached, agreeing to many past rights and wrongs. Someday, he will clarify to everyone that what he did isn’t a mistake. He wants everyone to understand that he truly loves everyone in this family and never had hidden motives. He’s no longer that woman with ulterior motives; he just wants everyone in this family to live peacefully the life they desire.

”We can talk about these things later. Now, speaking about them serves no purpose. We each have a sense in our hearts, no need to break what’s unspoken, as it results in no good for anyone, right?

You know as well as I do that family shame shouldn’t be publicized, and for this reason, over the years, you’ve buried all grievances and pain deep inside, never saying them to anyone. That’s why I feel even more indebted to you!

Like your father said, since we decided to return to this home, they will certainly make amends for all the harm you suffered over the years...”

Life is for your own living; why care about others’ opinions?
