My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2324: Chapter 2157: Perseverance

Life should be about walking your own path, never giving up.

”My dear child, all these years have truly been unfair to you. You’ve always stood by my grandson’s side, never leaving him. He suffered the abandonment from his mom and dad. Without you, he might not be standing alive before me now. Looking back at all those past memories, my heart is equally in pain. If only I had spent more time with him back then, not just focusing on shaping him into a talent, perhaps he wouldn’t have suffered so much. Maybe he would be happier now. Many times, I don’t even know what I’ve done. I watched as he almost turned into a monster. He always sets strict standards for himself, pushes himself, and never allows himself to show weakness to anyone. He does this just to prove to his parents that he isn’t useless. He just wants them to understand what a significant loss it was to abandon him. He went through tremendous hardship to prove himself to his parents, leaving footprints of blood and tears with every step. Looking back now, I realize that every decision I made was wrong. As long as he can live happily, why did I have to demand so much? If it weren’t for my high expectations, how could things have come to this? How could his parents have left home for over a decade without ever coming back? If not because of me, how could he have been abandoned by his parents and gone through countless years without ever receiving parental love? That’s why his heart is void, and only you can fill that void. Although now he says he forgives his parents, he still harbors hatred for them. What child wouldn’t resent their parents for abandoning them for a whole decade? Don’t be fooled by your husband’s cheerful facade. Deep inside, his heart is the most tormented. He’s enduring the pain by being abandoned by his parents while pretending to be happy and joyous in front of everyone, because he can’t let others see how fragile he truly is. Once his enemies see his weakness, they’ll strike with a fatal blow. He struggles at every step to protect what I care about: the company, the reputation, and even maintain his parent’s alleged dignity and pride. Yet, his parents are still unwilling to return. How should he cope with his feelings, knowing all his years of toil seemingly meant nothing?”

Ran Zhihan heard Old Master Zhang speaking, and her heart felt heavy. Indeed, every word her grandfather said was true. She knows how much hardship her husband has faced over the years, yet he never speaks of it. That’s because he trusts her, not wanting his wife to see his vulnerability. Whenever her husband is lonely and lost, she’s always there by his side, but she can’t let her husband believe that he’s anything less than strong.

”Grandpa, to be honest, watching my beloved husband suffer for years has been incredibly painful for me too. But I have no choice because I understand how much my husband cares about his image. Though he never admits it, what man doesn’t care about his pride? Since I became his wife, I must consider everything from his perspective, prioritizing him first, rather than selfishly indulging in my own happiness. I’ve come to understand everything now. I just wish that when I’m happy, my husband can be happy too, and when my husband is at his happiest, that’s when I’m most joyful. We’re one now, and I’ll never leave him again. We’ll stay united for life, together creating a realm. Now that his world is established and we have the fruit of our love, I feel my life is complete and without regret!” ℯℯ𝘭.𝘤ℴ𝘮

”You really are a silly child, how can you be so naive? Can’t you think about things from a different angle? Consider whether every choice you’ve made leaves you with any regrets? Although I know your husband has sacrificed so much for you, compared to everything you’ve both endured, it’s like a small evil in a large sea of suffering. Your husband’s parents have brought sorrow upon you, a pain that can’t be forgotten, having been inflicted by an elder unto a younger generation. Such grief isn’t easily dismissed. I understand the agony inside you both. But I hope that once your husband’s parents return, it shows they truly regret their actions. You must forgive them then, and let them return home honorably. A family together can foster prosperity, after all, harmony brings fortune...”

...

While the two of them were still discussing, Old Master Zhang’s phone rang, and the caller turned out to be Xia Jing.

”Why are you calling me? Is it to tell me once again that you’re unwilling to come back?”

”No, Dad, that’s not it. This time I’m calling to tell you that I have finally figured it out. I should come back home, be there for my son, daughter-in-law, and grandchild. I’ve missed being present in my son’s growing years, and I shouldn’t miss out on my grandchild’s growth too. It’s a wound for both my son and grandson. I wonder if my timing to return is too late now? Father, I really have realized please grant me one more opportunity; I promise not to be reckless and abandon my family like before. I truly understand now how important my family is. Without them, no matter how happy I am outside, it means nothing!”

Old Master Zhang was pleased; this daughter-in-law had come around quickly. Yet some unease lingered—why had his son not reached this understanding?

Perseverance is the essence of life.
