My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2304: Chapter 2137: Who Doesn’t Have Dreams?

Life makes oneself become unbearable, yet it also makes one’s life more beautiful.

The family happily finished their meal here. They never imagined such a day would come so soon, nor did they think it would be so heartwarming. They always believed they would never have another chance to have a reunion meal with their family in this lifetime. But when this day came, they could hardly believe these were their family members. They had made so many mistakes and hurt them time and again, yet they forgave without holding grudges, allowing them to sit here and eat breakfast together. For them, this happiness was almost too sudden.

”Dad, do you know? I’ve waited for this day for so long. I never thought this day would come so soon. When it came, I could hardly believe it was real. Even now, I still feel like it’s just a dream because I’ve dreamt of such a scene countless times. Now it’s happening right next to me, and I truly can hardly believe it.

I once did so many things wrong that let this family down, and I paid dearly for those things. Although I’ve been away all these years, you knew I was not happy. Hearing me talk about my experiences, your hearts must also have felt bad. No matter what, no matter how cruel I was to you, no matter how much I hurt you, your hearts would never blame me because I am your family!”

Zhang Zhentian wasn’t wrong; no matter what, his father would never blame him. How could a father bear to blame his own child? He only wished for his child to live healthily and happily. At least his child could still live joyfully in this world, and for a father, wasn’t that the greatest comfort?

In fact, Old Master Zhang was the one suffering the most internally because he selfishly drove his son out of the house, causing him such hardship. Through these years, his son went through so much pain outside. As a father, how could his heart remain unaffected? He couldn’t show it; he was the pillar of the family. Regardless of the time and place, he had to project calmness, or else the family would have been broken by others long ago.

Zhang Yichen understood Old Master Zhang the best. He knew what kind of thoughts his grandfather harbored deep down. He also knew that although on the surface his grandfather seemed calm, his heart was actually turbulent.

He understood that all the strength his grandfather projected was a disguise. He couldn’t let others easily see what was going on in his heart; otherwise, the family could hardly maintain itself. Didn’t many people already have disdain for the family? The fact that the family wasn’t toppled after all these years was because his grandfather stood as the assurance here.

No one dared to act recklessly in front of Old Master Zhang because they knew that when Old Master Zhang spoke, he never indulged in half measures, and his actions were ruthless. Because of this, when they saw him still standing strong, no matter how much dissatisfaction they had with the Zhang Family, they didn’t dare to express it, especially now with a peerless genius.

”Grandpa, since Dad has already returned, let’s not pursue past events among ourselves anymore. Let us live happily together; our every day is enough. Reflecting on the past would only increase sadness for everyone. The past should have long turned to dust with the sands of time. Why should we cling tightly to the past? It only makes others live unhappily, and we ourselves remain unhappy. What we all want is shared happiness, isn’t it?”

”Child, you’re right. Every word you speak resonates with grandpa’s heart because you’re the child I watched grow up, the one I nurtured with my own hands. Grandpa knows every action of yours. Although the world might not understand you, I do. I believe everything you’ve done is for the family’s well-being. Everything you do is simply because you wish for your family to live happily and joyfully. You never wanted to cause even a shred of harm to your family. You would rather endure all grievances yourself, just to ensure your grandfather lives happily!”

”Do you really think I don’t know about your actions either? The company once faced difficulties, and it was you who silently supported it without telling anyone, because you didn’t want anyone to step in to help you. You wanted to prove your strength, to let the veterans in the company know that as long as you’re there, the company will never collapse or declare bankruptcy. Time and again, the huge financial chasms were filled by you through your own network of relationships. Everyone knows that you are the strongest person in the world because for the sake of the company, and for this family, you gave up everything you wanted, relinquished your dreams. Grandpa knows that your dream wasn’t here from the start. Your dream was broader and more expansive, yet because of grandpa and partly for this family, you abandoned your most important dream!

I’ve always wanted to ask you, have you ever regretted giving up your dream? Just to prove to your parents that you are right, that you are the strongest, to let them know that abandoning you was a mistake? So much so that you could even forego your greatest ambition without any regret in your heart?”

Zhang Zhentian and Xia Jing were deeply shaken when Old Master Zhang spoke those words. They never thought their son actually had dreams, that being an entrepreneur wasn’t his dream. It was precisely their actions that led their son to give up his most desired goal, his most important ideal. For them as parents, didn’t it mean they became increasingly ineffective? Why did none of their acts turn out right? How should they compensate their child for the grievances endured all these years? How can they heal the regret left deep in their child’s heart?

”Grandpa, I’ve never regretted any of the decisions I made. Regardless of whether my heart carries any regret due to this matter, I won’t blame anyone. It was my own choice, and I have to see it through myself!”

People often ask, are you happy with your life? Do you have dreams? How can one live a life without dreams?
