My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2315: Chapter 2148: Worries

The time when something happened at home, it was truly worrying, and I feared that all of this would become a set outcome.

Old Master Zhang waited day after day, always hoping that his son would fully awaken, but despite all the waiting, he never got a definite result. The doctor said they had missed the best time for awakening, and there might never again be a way for his son to regain consciousness.

For the aging Old Master Zhang, this was undoubtedly a fatal blow. He never imagined he would face such an outcome. He only wanted his family to be safe, but his actions ultimately made everything so hard to accept.

Zhang Yichen watched his grandfather become so sad, time and again. He was reluctant to say anything harsh to him. He knew his grandfather didn’t want things to become like this. None of this was what anyone wanted to see, but this is the reality now, so how could he just complain about it?

Ran Zhihan watched her husband and grandfather become so haggard every day. They battled with death each day, wanting to pull their loved ones back, wanting to save them from the brink of death. Yet no matter how much they shouted, their relative never showed any sign of waking, continually lying there asleep, as if the world had gone quiet, as if time had stopped, with nothing able to awaken them.

”Grandfather, you should go home and rest early. You’ve been keeping watch for so long now. If you continue like this, when Dad and Mom awaken and see you like this, how worried and guilty would they be?

You are the backbone of this family. If you were to faint or exhaust yourself, what would our family do? We’ve already endured various blows. Now, our two family members are lying here. I hope there won’t be any more mishaps, and I hope you take care of yourself, not just for anything else, but for the sake of our entire family. Could you consider that?

Zhang Yichen persuaded his grandfather, hoping his grandfather’s health wouldn’t falter. If his grandfather’s health were to collapse again, the hope of the entire family would be completely destroyed.

How could Old Master Zhang possibly sleep peacefully when his family lay motionless here. As a father, he had never accompanied or cared for them. Now they were here, so should not a father be here to accompany and cheer them on? As a husband, how could he secretly go back to sleep, knowing his children might awaken to find him missing and feel afraid?

”Yichen, Grandpa doesn’t want to do anything right now; he just wants to stay in the hospital at ease. I want to see your parents awaken with my own eyes; it would be a moment witnessing a miracle for us. I don’t want them to regret.

I’ve never been there for them, but now how could I go back alone to sleep? They need my company too. As a father, I should stay beside them and cheer for them. I should seriously call to them, maybe they will hear my calls and awaken. Wouldn’t they also feel reluctant seeing their old grandpa living anxiously at such an old age?

They are your parents. I know you worry about them, but they are also my family, my children. How could I not worry? As a parent, I’ve always hoped they could live peacefully and happily. This is crucial to everyone. Others might not care, but I do. From the moment they returned home, from the moment they stayed because of me, I had already decided as long as they needed me, I would be there for them. I would pay any price to support their every decision. Previously, my actions hurt them too deeply, resulting in today’s consequences, and now all I can do is watch them suffer.

I so deeply wished I could share some of their pain. They are my children, yet as a father, I can only stand there, unable to do anything for them, which is a deep sense of failure for me!

Child, I believe you can understand Grandpa’s feelings. You don’t want Grandpa to live such a failed life, do you? You also hope your parents will wake and see Grandpa, right?”

Zhang Yichen suddenly realized he couldn’t argue against his grandfather anymore. His grandfather was too stubborn; his temperament too persistent. He had no way to fight against his logic.

Perhaps his grandfather was right. If his parents woke up, maybe the first person they would want to see wouldn’t be him, but rather Grandpa, feeling that the person they owed the most was Grandpa. How could they bear letting Grandpa be so sad and uneasy alone, knowing he had sacrificed so much for them, always witnessing his love for them through life’s trials?

Yet the doctor had issued a persistent coma notice, which might turn into a critical condition, and there might never be a way to awaken them in their lifetime. How could he inform his grandfather about this result? Perhaps Grandpa’s heart would crumble upon hearing it.

As a junior, she couldn’t bear seeing her family plunge into depths of despair time after time, knowing her family was willing to sacrifice everything for her, yet she ended up unable to do anything for her family. So how could she dictate others’ lives over and over again now?

”Grandfather, if you wish to stay here, that’s not impossible. But you must promise me no matter what happens, you will take care of your health. I don’t want any health mishaps during the process of looking after Mom and Dad.

If that really happens, I could never forgive myself, nor would my parents forgive me. So, I hope you cherish your own health, showing a vigorous father to them upon their awakening, which would be the greatest comfort for them in this world!”

Thankfully, heaven protected us, restoring everything to its original state.
