My Alleged Husband

Chapter 2325: Chapter 2158: Acceptance

Maybe I should learn to accept my life.

”Since you’ve spoken to this extent, I have no reason to persuade you otherwise. You’ve already decided to leave, so what more can I say to keep you? Your heart is no longer with me; it left long ago. Given this, why should I forcefully keep you by my side? That would only make you live in more pain. Actually, I’m not a selfish person. I just wish that the person I love could feel happiness and joy because of my presence. Yet now I understand, being with me won’t bring you happiness. I won’t let the woman I love most be unhappy because of me; that would be too selfish. So go on happily; once you leave, you’ll find that the one who loves you most is me. I’ll show you that having me in your life is your greatest fortune. I don’t seek much in this life; I only hope to cherish, accompany, and love you for a lifetime. Yet it seems even this simplest wish cannot be fulfilled now. Maybe someday you’ll realize, I am still the one who loves you most.”

Xia Jing said nothing. He didn’t give Zhang Zhentian a chance to speak; he just turned and left. He continued to head to the Zhang Family, to bid farewell to his father, his son and daughter-in-law, and his grandson. Yes, he was leaving here. He felt that living here longer held no meaning; he wanted to find another place to live.

Old Master Zhang saw his daughter-in-law come home. He found it somewhat puzzling; hadn’t she just left? Why did she suddenly come back again? Did she really decide to return home? But even if she did decide, there’s no need to hurry this moment. She could gather everything tomorrow and come home to live with me. But why choose this particular moment?

”Xia Jing, do you have something to tell me? Why did you just leave and now come back?” Old Master Zhang said to Xia Jing.

”Dad, actually, my return is because there’s something I want to tell you. I’ve made up my mind; I’m going to leave here and live in the next city. I feel there are too many people and things here that trigger my emotions. You should understand the kind of feelings I have now; they truly make me feel as though I’m in agony. Sometimes, even breathing hurts. Do you know how painful that feels? After experiencing all of this here, I realized the path I need to walk isn’t this one; I should be on a path for my own life. I shouldn’t give up my original goals for anyone anymore. I’m going abroad now. During this time, I want to thank you for raising my son and thank you for finding such a good wife for him. Now that my son and daughter-in-law have their own child, I’m confident they’ll treat their child well; they are responsible parents, unlike me, who gave up my child for my own selfish reasons...”

”I know, no one can change the decisions you make. But Dad hopes you can stay, to stay with us and accompany us, okay? Actually, I’ve always looked at you as my own daughter. I never imagined things would become as they are now between us. I know what happened between you and Zhentian, but shouldn’t you both settle things well? You’ve been together for over a decade; at least you should be aware of everything about each other, right? Given this, why do you choose to do this? This only makes you both feel agony!”

”Dad, I must admit, the past decade with him has been the happiest time of my life. Even with all the ups and downs, we’ve faced them together. But now, he’s abandoned me. What messages should I still give him? Should I give him another chance to abandon me again? I’m not a Saint; I can’t let my husband abandon me over and over while remaining indifferent. I’m not that kind of person. His abandonment has truly hurt me inside. I never imagined he would treat me this way. All I wished was that he could stay with me, live a simple, ordinary life, and that would be enough. But he pushed all the responsibility for his mistakes onto me, making me his scapegoat. I’ve endured so many burdens for him, yet he was never grateful. I understand now; his actions weren’t without reason. Everyone harbors selfish desires to show their best side to those they care about. But he never knew, while he displayed his perfect side to his father and son, he showed his ugliest side to his wife. And because of this, I’ve seen him for who he truly is. He’s not the person I want. Throughout the years with him, I’ve gradually understood, no matter how wholeheartedly I treat him, he never reciprocated that feeling. Once a relationship fails, it’s irretrievably lost. My relationship with him has reached this point; there’s no possibility for us anymore. Instead of living in pain together, why don’t we each walk our own path, right? Perhaps my departure now is the best blessing for him. With my heart no longer affecting him, he can happily live the life he wants. No one can disturb the peace of his original life anymore. It was I who accidentally disrupted his life arrangement and routine, leading him to commit mistakes. Now I must let go, give us both an escape route, let him stop making further mistakes. We truly aren’t suited for each other. When he harshly abandoned me, that’s when I realized that no matter what, we can’t live together any longer. The only thing he brought me was pain, but those times with him I was also happy. So Dad, I hope you can take good care of my son, grandson, and wonderful daughter-in-law while I’m away.”

”Alas, alright! Since you’ve made the decision, go as you said. Remember to call me after you leave, let me know you’re safe. Don’t forget, both your son and I will always worry about you.”

Life is what you desire; that’s the best outcome for yourself.
