Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 797: Chapter 796: The So-Called Team Annihilation...

In front of the golden-haired girl stood a woman with deep purple hair, dressed in a black bodysuit, her gaze cold and fixated upon her. Those eyes were devoid of any emotion, as if she were a puppet under someone else’s control.

Blood dripped down the blade, falling to the ground and slowly pooling on the floor.

”What’s wrong? Saeko-senpai, why are you doing this!?”

Looking at the woman before her, the golden-haired girl couldn’t believe her eyes, knowing that this had once been a comrade who fought side by side with her and others! They had broken through the zombie siege, left the school, and gone through so much hardship. But now, she was actually killing her own companion? What on earth was going on?

”......”

The woman with the katana, however, said nothing, only gripped her sword tighter and raised it toward the golden-haired girl.

”Ugh...”

Feeling the cold intent to kill in the other’s gaze, the golden-haired girl also clenched her teeth. She didn’t surrender but instead quickly grabbed a wooden stick beside her—as a member of the Spear Arts Department, her skill wasn’t much inferior to the other’s swordsmanship. However, the golden-haired girl had never imagined that she would one day be engaged in a life-and-death battle face to face with her.

Her speed was fast and her reactions sharp, with close combat being her forte. I must be wary of her sudden approach, and....

As she stared at her former senior, flashes of her past battles kept emerging in the golden-haired girl’s mind. She had once thought her so trustworthy, but now... she realized that the situation was far more dangerous than she had imagined! Relying solely on herself and the makeshift weapon in her hand, it wouldn’t be easy to overcome the enemy before her!

”Swoosh!!”

Just then, the purple-haired woman suddenly lunged forward, her katana slashing straight down at the golden-haired girl!

”Not good!”

Seeing the gleaming blade coming towards her, the golden-haired girl felt a surge of dread but, being battle-hardened, she swiftly braced her wooden stick to knock the slashing sword aside. The stick struck the descending blade, deflecting its path so that it just grazed past the girl’s body without hitting her. Simultaneously, the girl thrust the stick toward her opponent with all her might!

”Bang!!”

What the golden-haired girl hadn’t expected was that instead of dodging the full-powered strike, the adversary caught the wooden stick with her left hand, gripping it tightly!

Bad!!

It was then that the golden-haired girl realized that she wasn’t wielding a sharp Long Spear but an ordinary wooden stick. Moreover, she noticed the opponent’s left hand had turned a terrifying purple-black color—as if it had completely died.

”You......!”

At that moment, the golden-haired girl seemed to understand something. She looked up in surprise to say something to the woman, but as she began to speak, the cold blade easily pierced through her chest. The golden-haired girl staggered slightly and then closed her eyes, falling to the ground lifeless.

The woman with the katana glanced at the girl’s body, then turned and quickly left through the other side of the alley.

”Ahh...... groan......”

The zombies’ roaring echoed throughout the streets; screams and moans from those who had not escaped filled the air. In a narrow alleyway, several girls were running hard, trying to escape the clutches of the zombies.

”Sister Ci, Sister Ci! Are we there yet?”

A girl with a cat ear hat and pink hair was panting heavily as she ran before looking up and gasping for air while asking. The girl in front of her, dressed in a purple dress, tightly clasped the hat-wearing girl’s hand, pulling her along as they continued to run. Upon hearing the question, she turned her head and forced a slight smile.

”Keep going, Yuki. We can definitely get out of here!”

”Ahhh...... !!”

At that moment, another girl with brown hair among them suddenly fell to the ground. The short-haired girl beside her quickly reached her side and helped her up.

”Are you okay, Yuri-senpai?”

”Yes, I’m just a little tired, thank you, Miki.”

The brown-haired girl replied with a slight smile to the short-haired girl’s concern.

”We have to get out of here, hurry up, or we’ll be caught by the zombies!”

As shadows of zombies already appeared in the alley behind them, the purple-clad girl urged them on with a sense of urgency.

”There’s a gas station up ahead. Maybe we can find a place to rest there... but for now, everyone, push on!”

”Right!!”

After hearing her suggestion, the other three nodded and continued to run after the purple-clad girl. They soon reached a crossroad and could even see the nearby gas station...

”That’s the place, everyone, let’s give it our all!!”

Seeing their destination up close, everyone felt exhilaration, with Sister Ci waving her hands in joy.

”Hurry, once we get there, we can rest!!” she exclaimed.

As the purple-clad girl said this, she took a step forward.

But just as she was about to leave the intersection, suddenly, from the window of a convenience store beside her, a blonde zombie burst out and grabbed her firmly.

”No, no......!!”

Startled by the sudden appearance of the zombie, the purple-clad girl was taken aback, but before she could struggle, she saw the zombie drag her into a small house on the other side.

”Sister Ci! Sister Ci!! Let her go!!”

Seeing the purple-clad girl attacked, the other three were shocked. They quickly rushed up, trying to save their companion, but what they didn’t expect was at the very moment they entered the small house, from behind them, two large and one small zombie sprang out and tackled them to the ground!

”Don’t...!! Don’t... run!! Yuki!! Yuri!! Miki...uh!!”

The purple-clad girl, pinned to the ground, desperately struggled and shouted out to her companions. Meanwhile, the blonde zombie had already approached her, and she could even see its face—blackened with blue and purple hues. Just as this was happening, the zombie covered her mouth and slowly leaned closer to her.

As she saw the face, the purple-clad girl closed her eyes tightly......

The next moment, her throat should have been torn open by the zombie in front of her......

It should have been like that......

”Hey, stop shouting! Did you hear me?”

Huh?

Astonished, the purple-clad girl’s eyes widened as she heard the unfamiliar voice close to her ear. She realized that the blonde zombie in front of her wasn’t tearing her flesh or devouring her blood, as she had expected, but instead was glaring at her fiercely... wait, was it talking?

”Phew, you finally calmed down.”

Seeing the reaction of the purple-clad girl, the blonde zombie seemed to breathe a sigh of relief.

”Hey, I have some questions I need you and your companions to answer, but don’t scream. If you attract other zombies, I can’t guarantee your safety, got it? If you understand, nod your head!”

What was going on? Could zombies talk? And... was she talking to her?

The purple-clad girl’s mind was in chaos, but she instinctively nodded. Seeing her response, the blonde zombie seemed relieved, and just as she was about to release the purple-clad girl, suddenly, she appeared to sense something and pushed her down to the ground again.

”Don’t move!”

Startled by the sudden attack from the blonde zombie, the purple-clad girl was frightened, thinking the zombie was about to harm her. But soon, she heard the low growls of zombies coming from outside the door.

”Ugh...... ugh......”

With the roaring and footsteps, hundreds of zombies passed by outside the door. Although she couldn’t see them, just hearing the sounds was enough to paralyze the purple-clad girl with fear. Had they been caught by these zombies, they would already be beyond saving!

No, they were being held by a zombie right now!

It was hard to say how much time had passed before the zombies outside gradually moved away, and only then did the blonde zombie release her hand from the purple-clad girl’s mouth and pulled her up, while the other three were also pulled up by three other zombies......

”Wait, Duohui, that’s not food, you can’t bite!!”

Luckily, the blonde zombie was quick to catch another zombie in a Robe of Cultivation with black hair before it could really bite into Miki.

”Geez, here, eat some of this to calm down.”

Looking at the black-haired zombie, which begged for food beside her like a little dog, the blonde zombie sighed helplessly and then took out a piece of dried squid from her pocket and stuffed it into its mouth. The black-haired zombie happily took the squid to the corner and started munching.

”Thank, thank you...”

Looking at the four zombies—three large and one small—the purple-clad girl and her companions didn’t know what to say. Although they were saved in the end... saved by zombies?

What was that about?

”It was nothing, just lending a hand. Besides, I have some things I want to ask you,” said the blonde zombie with a ruffian’s casual tone, waving her hand nonchalantly. Then she focused on the four people and started to inquire.

”Right, you were captured by that crappy company called Umbrella, weren’t you? Did you hear them discussing anything strange, like a few zombies who could talk like us?”
