Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 763: Chapter 762: Finally Saved a... Person?

”What’s happening?”

When Fang Zheng and Little Hei arrived at the hall, Natsuse and the others had also hurried over.

”Where is the sound coming from? Could it be that the zombies have breached the gate?”

Midori’s ears perked up in surprise, and she constantly turned them. She had put a lot of effort into fortifying this base. Not only had she sealed all the windows and the main door on the first floor, but she had also made barricades out of heavy furniture against these barriers. Logically speaking, common zombies shouldn’t be able to break through, right?

”I haven’t spotted any zombies.”

Tina shook her head in confusion. As the most important scout soldier here, Tina had released three detectors that she closely monitored, responsible for surveilling the area centering on the station. But up till now... nothing unusual had surfaced.

”Boom!!!”

Just then, a dull collision sound erupted again from under everyone’s feet. Hearing this, Fang Zheng glanced at the floor, then exchanged a look with Little Hei and nodded.

It was coming from below.

Beneath Yokohama North Station was also a subway station, naturally filled with zombies. For safety’s sake, Fang Zheng had earlier set fire to cleanse most of the subway tunnels of zombies and then completely sealed it off. After all, no one knew what transformations might occur underground, and in case mutant zombies tried to enter the base from there, at least there would be a barrier to stop them.

Now, it seemed Fang Zheng’s decision had been the right one.

”Boom!”

As everyone rushed to the subway station located on the basement level, accompanied by another loud bang, they saw the fireproof door that had been tightly shut was suddenly blown off by a powerful force, spinning into the air before crashing heavily against a nearby wall with a ”boom.” The noise startled Kei Shidou, who was following behind everyone, making him tremble.

”Looks like we’ve got a big one on our hands.”

Seeing this scene, Fang Zheng also furrowed his eyebrows. The fireproof door had been completely sealed, and its durability was beyond doubt. But to be so easily blown off suggested that the enemy on the other side possessed considerable strength, at least... not something common zombies could match.

Well then, let’s see who our divine visitor is!

With that thought, Fang Zheng looked up toward the dark depths of the door, and Little Hei gripped the two high-vibration particle daggers in his hands tighter, carefully watching what lay ahead.

But to everyone’s surprise, the next moment a faint voice came from within.

”Save... save me... please help me...”

What’s going on here?

Hearing the cry for help from inside, everyone was stunned for a moment, then Keiichi Shidou quickly called out.

”There’s someone inside, let’s hurry to save them!”

As he spoke, Keiichi intended to run inside, but Natsuse, quick as lightning, grabbed him.

”Wait, big sis, something’s not right inside.”

”Right, be careful.”

Fang Zheng also nodded, agreeing with Natsuse’s words. The other party had just suddenly smashed the door, appearing to charge through with great ferocity, and now suddenly cowering - what was going on? Could it be that after realizing they were outnumbered, they planned to lure them in and pick them off one by one? Had zombies evolved to this extent, even their brains had come to life?

”Pat... pat...”

After a short while, a chilling sound began to echo, and under everyone’s watchful eyes, a figure slowly emerged from the darkness.

It was a girl with long black hair reaching her waist, wearing a white dress. She was filthy with mud and dust all over, and if judging by appearance alone, she looked no different from a bedraggled survivor crying for help. However, upon seeing her, Keiichi Shidou screamed, and the others readied themselves for battle.

The reason was simple... the girl’s head was tilted at a ninety-degree angle, hanging down to her chest. If that was still considered a living human, what would that make them?!

”Save, save me... please... I beg you...”

The girl zombie seemed oblivious to her own condition, just flailing her arms and calling out. Perhaps because her neck was broken, her voice was intermittent and unclear. Little Hei narrowed his eyes and took a closer look at the girl zombie in front of them, then widened his eyes in surprise.

”Brother Zheng, isn’t that the big sister we buried?”

”Hm?”

Alerted by Little Hei’s reminder, Fang Zheng paused, then he quickly examined the zombie in front of them... The attire was soiled with mud, so initially, he didn’t recognize her, but now that he looked closer... it really was her!

How did she end up here? And turned into a zombie?

”Could it be that she became a zombie because of the resentment in her heart?”

Upon seeing this, Little Hei couldn’t help but speak up.

”In the comics I’ve read, there’s content like this, where the corpses of the dead become zombies because of the grudges they held in their hearts...”

”But she shouldn’t be coming after us, right? We didn’t kill her!”

Hearing Little Hei’s words, Fang Zheng also couldn’t help but retort.

”Big brother, you didn’t bury her alive, did you?”

”Joking? I confirmed that her breathing and heartbeat had stopped before burying her. Besides, weren’t you also watching? With her neck snapped, could she still be alive?”

”But this big sister has somehow found her way to us, hasn’t she?”

”Please... help... me...”

Just as Fang Zheng and Little Hei were frantically passing the buck to each other, the girl zombie staggered towards the group. Seeing this, Midori softly asked.

”Brother Fang Zheng... what should we do?”

”... Let me try.”

Upon hearing Midori’s question, Fang Zheng sighed in resignation, then carefully approached the girl zombie, staring at her.

”Why did you come here?”

”......”

Perhaps because she had just been resurrected, the girl zombie seemed a bit lost. After being silent for a moment in response to Fang Zheng’s question, she slowly began to speak.

”Because... the broadcast said... this place... is safe...”

Just because of that?

Upon hearing the girl zombie’s answer, Fang Zheng was speechless and then extended his hand.

”Well then... welcome to our group. Come with me, let me check your body and dress your wounds. Is that okay?”

”......”

The girl’s head hung straight down over her chest, her red eyes fixed intently on Fang Zheng, and then she reached out to take Fang Zheng’s hand.

”Okay... thank you... for your trouble.”

After that, Fang Zheng took the girl zombie back to the lab, while the others stood outside with odd expressions on their faces, watching the girl through the glass and discussing in low voices.

”Should we really keep a zombie here?”

The one most concerned about this was Keiichi. While others might be braver and more capable, for Keiichi... facing a zombie, she truly had no combat ability.

”Leave it to Brother. I believe he will make the right decision.”

Little Hei evidently wasn’t too worried, just shrugging his shoulders casually. Meanwhile, Midori furrowed her brows and asked with a hint of confusion.

”But... why can this big sister talk? The zombies we encountered before only made incoherent sounds, didn’t they?”

”There must have been some kind of transformation...”

At this, Natsuse sighed with a complex expression.

”But I really didn’t expect that the first survivor to arrive at our base... would be a zombie sister...”

”Natsuse, she is already a zombie, so she doesn’t count as a survivor, right?”

”That’s true...” freeweɓnovēl.coɱ

With that, everyone exchanged looks and simultaneously sighed.

What on earth is going on here...
