Chapter 756: Chapter 755 This World is Not Normal!

When Fang Zheng returned with Natsuse and Little Hei, the girl had already calmed down.

She sat in the chair, eyeing Fang Zheng and his group curiously.

Clearly, this group before her was nothing like the ”rescue team” she had imagined. Perhaps she had envisioned a professional rescue team or the army, even the police, or perhaps, letting her imagination fly even further, a Prince Charming to come to her rescue was not entirely out of the question.

But... a young man, coming to save her accompanied by a group of little girls? What kind of operation was this?

”Th-thank you...”

Glancing at Fang Zheng nervously, the girl bowed respectfully to him, while Fang Zheng simply waved his hand.

”No need to be polite. We just happened to pass by and received a distress signal, so we came to check it out... How are you feeling physically?”

”My right foot is somewhat sprained...”

”Let me see.”

Hearing Fang Zheng speak, the girl, though slightly embarrassed, lifted her right leg as Fang Zheng directed, and sure enough, Fang Zheng soon saw a significant swelling at the girl’s ankle. Fortunately, there was no bleeding, and from what he could see, the girl had no external injuries, which meant there was no risk of infection. As for the sprain...

Fang Zheng extended his hand and gently pressed on the swollen area.

The next moment, the swelling on the girl’s ankle instantly dissipated, as if nothing had ever happened.

”Eh? Eh?”

The girl was clearly surprised as well, looking down at her ankle and pressing on it, but she felt no pain at all! What was going on? How had he done it?

Watching the girl’s expression, Fang Zheng smiled slightly. Although he was a Paladin, this world did not have the concepts of mysterious magic or the Power of the Holy Light. Thus, Fang Zheng used a method he had learned from Kurumi, employing the Fourth Bullet from Chronos, which could reverse the time of the target hit by the bullet, a technique often used by Kurumi to heal injuries. By this method, Fang Zheng could easily heal her injury by reversing the flow of time to the state ”before the injury.”

However, Fang Zheng certainly did not explain the principle to the girl; he simply coughed to divert her attention.

”Miss, may I ask your name?”

”Ah, of course.”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s question, the girl hurriedly stood up and bowed respectfully to him.

”My name is Kei Shidou, I am a freshman at Megurigaoka Academy...”

Kei Shidou? That name sounds familiar... Wait, Megurigaoka? Isn’t this Academy Island?

Fang Zheng did not remember the girl’s name immediately, but when she mentioned Megurigaoka, he quickly realized - could it be that he had come to the world of Academy Island?

As for the show, Fang Zheng had watched it, and he kind of knew the plot. Academy Island tells the story of a few girls living in a secluded academy while avoiding zombies. Compared to ”Academy Apocalypse,” ”Academy Island” follows another kind of bizarre moe style, and, well... but it was admittedly somewhat interesting.

However, Fang Zheng had initially watched Academy Island by accident; he was just tired from work and decided to watch some silly moe anime to lighten his mood. Since Academy Island had just started airing at the time, and the promotion looked exactly like the silly moe daily life, he clicked into it, and then...

”City traps run deep, I want to return to the countryside...”

But if this is the world of Academy Island, why are the zombies in this world different from those he remembered? If Fang Zheng remembered correctly, the zombies in Academy Island were just ordinary zombies, but why were the zombies in this world somewhat different?

”So, Miss Kei Shidou,”

Fang Zheng, putting aside the doubts deep within him for the moment, looked at Kei Shidou.

”Could you explain what exactly happened?”

”This...”

Faced with Fang Zheng’s question, Kei Shidou was a bit perplexed, but she didn’t overthink it and honestly began to recount the events to Fang Zheng.

According to Kei’s description, everything started about ten days ago (she wasn’t clear on the exact time); she was working the night shift at a convenience store with a friend when suddenly there was a commotion outside, it seemed someone was shouting ”Murder” or something. Hearing these shouts, the people inside the convenience store were also somewhat nervous. To calm everyone else, the store manager decided to go outside and check the situation.

After the manager left, he didn’t return for a long time. This made Kei Shidou and her friends increasingly frightened and uneasy. They tried to call the manager but found no one was answering the phone. Not only that, screams and wails occasionally came from the street outside.

Kei Shidou wanted to go outside to see what was really happening, but her friend clearly didn’t want her to take the risk. As the two were unsure what to do, they saw a man covered in blood staggering towards the convenience store, and then—he slammed into the convenience store’s outer wall! Then he began frantically banging on the glass, seemingly determined to break through the glass wall.

This really frightened everyone in the convenience store. Luckily, in addition to Kei Shidou and the others, there were also a few veteran employees; they quickly locked the convenience store’s door, and then took Kei Shidou and a few customers who were left in the store to hide in the store’s warehouse.

Afterward, everyone also thought about calling the police for help, but the phone was still not answered. By this point, anyone would realize that something major must have happened outside. Sure enough, everyone’s phones soon received an official warning stating that a ”chaotic situation” had emerged outside, the government was doing its best to control it, and advised everyone to stay indoors, not go outside, and not open their doors for anyone until the situation was under control and it was safe to proceed with other actions.

Although everyone felt a bit uneasy, they at least received a message and they later got in touch with their families by phone, which somewhat calmed the originally panic-stricken people. Although they didn’t know what was happening outside, they assumed it would be over soon...With that thought, everyone stayed in the convenience store’s warehouse all through the night.

The next day when Kei Shidou and the others woke up, the streets outside were completely silent, not a sound to be heard. At that time, everyone thought everything had ended, so they left the warehouse, planning to go home to check on the situation, but...

”Just after we left the convenience store, we were attacked by creatures...”

”Creatures?”

Upon hearing this, Fang Zheng frowned slightly.

”What kind of creatures? Not these zombies?”

”No.”

Kei Shidou shook her head.

”It was a terrifying creature. It looked like a person whose skin had been peeled off, and it had no eyes. I could even see its brain and long tongue...”

Hmm? Isn’t that a Licker?

Faced with Kei Shidou’s description, Fang Zheng was inwardly startled, but he didn’t speak, instead continuing to listen as Kei Shidou went on.

”That kind of creature was very fast, we had no way to deal with it, several people with us were caught and eaten by them. Only my friend and I managed to escape back to the warehouse...that’s how we survived... Since then, we have been living in the warehouse, which was lucky because it had enough water and food and was sturdy enough that we didn’t have to worry about those creatures breaking in...”

The situation was getting worse.

Listening to Kei Shidou’s account, Fang Zheng also furrowed his eyebrows slightly. According to her, the zombies in this world are active at night, and during the day they hide in dark corners, disappearing. However, that doesn’t mean the daytime in this world is safe. Although there were no zombies during the day, there were other mutated creatures on the move.

According to Kei Shidou’s descriptions, the most common she’d encountered were Lickers, as well as Zombie Dogs and a very large ”person”... The more Fang Zheng heard, the more he felt something was off about this world; while it’s normal to have zombies, Lickers, or Zombie Dogs, they should not appear in the Academy Island’s world. This world might have zombies, but these bizarre types of zombies should not exist, nor should Lickers.

Otherwise, how could those young girls survive?

No, wait...

”So how did you manage to get here?”

At this moment, Fang Zheng finally noticed a problem. If this world was so dangerous, then there was no way Kei Shidou could have made it from the convenience store to the station. He had examined the girl earlier; she was just an ordinary person with average physical fitness. If she were really spotted by a Licker or a Zombie Dog, she would only have one path—death.

But she made it here?

”Because I noticed a pattern.”

”A pattern?”

”Yes.”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s question, Kei Shidou nodded.

”I found that only during twilight, specifically from four to six in the evening, there were no creatures to be seen. The zombies hadn’t awakened yet, and even those frightening creatures would disappear without a trace during this time... I don’t know why, but after trying several times, I’m certain that there are no dangers during this time, and that’s why I came here seeking for help...”

”.........”

Hearing this, Fang Zheng could confirm that something was indeed very wrong with this world.
