Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 774: Chapter 773 Wait a minute... This looks a bit familiar?!

”It’s the same old routine, really nothing original.”

As Fang Zheng watched the mutant zombie charging from behind to launch another assault on him, he shook his head. Without even turning around, he punched the zombie, knocking it straight to the ground.

”Awoooo!!”

But just as Fang Zheng knocked over the huge mutant zombie, suddenly, a small figure burst out from behind its enormous body. It was wielding a weapon and swung it forcefully at Fang Zheng!

Oh? Zombies use weapons now?

Feeling the rush of air from behind his head, Fang Zheng was slightly startled and had to admit that his trip here had indeed revealed numerous special breeds of zombies. Not only were there zombies that could listen to music and control other zombies like a DJ, but there were even ones that could wield weapons in an attack?

Although he was surprised, Fang Zheng’s movements were swift. He casually swung his sword, striking the incoming weapon. Soon after, accompanied by a scream, the zombie attempting a surprise attack was instantly slashed by Fang Zheng and sent flying into a nearby dilapidated wall. With a series of loud bangs and flying dust, the unfortunate creature was crushed beneath the debris.

”Didn’t expect you to be somewhat interesting.”

Fang Zheng sneered as he looked at the DJ zombie before him.

”Got any other tricks? Let’s see them.”

”Uh...uuuh....”

This time, the DJ zombie seemed to finally realize it had no escape. It glared fiercely at Fang Zheng, its eyes flickering with a bright red light. Then, with a fierce roar, it raised both arms and lunged at Fang Zheng!

”Looks like that’s it.”

As Fang Zheng spoke, the pitch black greatsword instantly pierced the DJ zombie’s chest, pinning it against the wall. Even though its heart was penetrated, the DJ zombie still clawed fiercely, very much embodying the idea of ”zombies never surrender.”

”Big brother, how is it?”

At that moment, Little Hei and Rea also came over. Looking at the DJ zombie nailed to the wall by Fang Zheng, Little Hei raised an eyebrow.

”All done?”

”Almost. This zombie is really interesting. Looks like another special mutant... Ah, I’ll extract some brain tissue for analysis later...”

Fang Zheng was genuinely interested in this zombie. From the previous fight, this mutant DJ zombie could not only control Lickers, but even control a TANK. Oh, and there’s that one with a weapon lying in the rubble too. I’ll find a chance to dig it out later...

”Crash!!”

But before Fang Zheng could finish his task, the pile of rubble nearby suddenly exploded, and a figure leapt out, swinging a weapon at Rea!

”Aah!”

Faced with this sudden attack, Rea was also taken aback. However, the young lady, proficient in both literary and martial arts, wasn’t just for show. Even faced with a sudden assault, she instinctively stepped back a few steps and then drew the longsword from her waist to block in front of her, clanging against the incoming attack.

”Uh...uhh....”

Is that the same zombie from before?

Fang Zheng glanced behind him but didn’t pay too much attention. Rea was strong in her own right, and with Little Hei by her side, even if it jumped out, it would just be killed in minutes. There was no need to worry. I’ll finish up what I’m doing first... Thinking this, Fang Zheng quickly opened his personal terminal to scan and analyze the DJ zombie’s brain, then extracted a sample, and with a sword strike, he completely knocked it to the ground.

But when Fang Zheng turned around, he found that Little Hei and Rea were staring blankly at that zombie... What’s going on?

”What’s the situation?”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s question, Little Hei turned, a look of deep contemplation on his face as he looked at Fang Zheng.

”Big brother, this zombie... looks kind of familiar!”

”Familiar?”

On hearing Little Hei’s response, Fang Zheng froze for a moment.

”Familiar, huh?”

”Yeah, I feel like I’ve seen it somewhere before...”

As he spoke, Little Hei started circling the zombie, while poor Rea was being overwhelmingly restrained by it, unable to move—at this point, it seemed that the zombie’s strength was not much less than Rea’s.

”Little Hei... please stop staring and help...”

”Ah, right!”

But Little Hei completely ignored Rea’s plea for help. She circled the zombie once, then suddenly came to a realization and clapped her hands.

”Isn’t that Rishi, sister?”

”Rishi?”

”Yeah, big brother, have you forgotten? The one from Rabbit Home...”

”Oh......”

Upon hearing Little Hei mention this, Fang Zheng also recalled the girl Little Hei was talking about—Tendo Rio, the new girl at the ”Rabbit Home” cafe inside Heavenly Dao Palace. After returning to Heavenly Dao Palace, Fang Zheng had visited the Rabbit Home for coffee and met Rio on a few occasions. Thinking of this, Fang Zheng squinted his eyes and carefully observed the zombie.

During the previous fight, Fang Zheng had not taken a good look at it. Now that he did, he was surprised to find that the zombie looked like a sixteen or seventeen-year-old girl, dressed in the same uniform as Kei Shidou, with a pair of long ponytails, and a chaotic iron chain around her neck. At that moment, this zombie girl was holding a shovel in her hand, frenziedly slashing at Ren.

On a closer look... she did bear some resemblance to Rio.

”What do you think? Big brother, I told you she looks a lot like her, right?”

”Yeah, she does, not just the face but also the hairstyle and hair color, though I think this one is slightly shorter...”

”Then this must be a younger sister, surely Rio’s long-lost younger sister!”

”How could that be...”

On hearing Little Hei’s excited query, Fang Zheng rolled his eyes helplessly. The architectures in Heavenly Dao Palace were based on their original worlds, and if there had been a Resident Evil outbreak at Rabbit Home, Fang Zheng would have noticed immediately. Fundamentally, it was impossible for this world to be Rabbit Home’s world since everything there was fine before Fang Zheng’s time travel. Nonetheless, this zombie bore a striking resemblance to Rio...

”Please, stop staring and help! Mr. Fang Zheng, Little Hei sister!!”

”Aaaaaahh!!”

While Fang Zheng and Little Hei were discussing quietly on the side, Ren was getting beaten so badly by the zombie that she was nearly crying. Although Ren herself was not weak, the zombie seemed to match her in strength; despite wielding nothing more than a shovel, it was adept at all twenty-seven techniques typically seen in the ”Thirteen Fatal Shovels,” which it performed with ferocity, rendering Ren’s ”Nine Swords of Dugu” almost ineffective as she struggled to hold on.

”What should we do, big brother? Should we kill her?”

Little Hei waved the high-vibration particle blade in her hand and tilted her head to look at Fang Zheng. Fang Zheng simply shrugged his shoulders, then raised the greatsword in his hand.

”Coming across someone who looks so similar here must be fate. Leaving her body to rot in the wilderness doesn’t feel right, so let me cremate her in one step.”

”Oooooo!!”

Just as Fang Zheng was about to cremate the opponent, suddenly, the zombie girl burst forth, raising her shovel to slash at Ren again while muttering incoherently.

”Zombies... must... die... everyone... die!!”

”Wait, big brother, is she still alive?”

Upon hearing the zombie girl actually speak, Little Hei was equally startled and hurriedly grabbed Fang Zheng.

Meanwhile, Ren was parrying attacks while tearfully protesting,

”No, I’m not a zombie... wait, maybe I am a zombie...”

As she spoke, even Ren started to doubt herself...

”Hmm...”

Fang Zheng, of course, also heard the zombie girl’s roar and thus paused his actions, picking up a terminal to scan the zombie girl, then frowned slightly.

”From what I see now, she seems dead, but... not completely dead?”

”Isn’t that like Sister Ren?”

”No, this one seems a bit different, but that’s okay...”

Saying this, Fang Zheng suddenly moved, appearing behind the zombie girl the next moment. He stretched out his hand, and from somewhere, produced a silver long needle, then pierced it into the zombie girl’s neck. The next moment, the zombie girl dropped to the ground like a puppet with its strings cut, motionless.

”Did you kill her? Big brother?”

”No, I just severed the nerve control between her brain and body...Hmm, I suddenly have a bold idea.”

As he spoke, Fang Zheng glanced at Ren, who was holding the longsword and panting heavily beside him.

”Let’s take this one back with us; I want to do an experiment...”
