Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 758: Chapter 757: It’s Completely Collapsed Now!

When Fang Zheng and Little Hei found the convenience store Kei Shidou had told them about, it was already twenty minutes later.

Finding the convenience store itself wasn’t difficult, the trouble lay with the zombies that chose to throw a party in the middle of the night instead of sleeping. Although Fang Zheng could kill these creatures instantly, he did not plan to waste time on these things that didn’t even offer a single experience point, so Fang Zheng and Little Hei opted for stealthy entry... Well, it has to be said, playing this way was indeed thrilling.

However...

”It seems this place isn’t any different from the others.”

Gazing at the mess that was once a convenience store, Little Hei scoffed, then casually picked up a bag of chips nearby, stretched out her hand, pulled several coins from her pocket, and placed them on the table, then with a snap, she opened the bag and started crunching on the chips.

”Where did you get the money from?”

Fang Zheng glanced at the money Little Hei had placed on the counter, surprised to find it was money from this world, but they hadn’t exchanged any money when they arrived in this world. The Supreme God Space was just something Fang Zheng idly mused about, it shouldn’t actually provide any real money to use, so where did Little Hei’s money come from?

But then again, the little one seems pretty sensible.

”This?”

Upon hearing Fang Zheng’s inquiry, Little Hei giggled, then she reached into her pocket and pulled out a bulging wallet.

”I slipped it out of a zombie’s pocket during a fight earlier. I figured he wouldn’t need it anymore, and maybe we might find it useful. So I borrowed it... That shouldn’t be a problem, should it?

”Of course it’s a problem; how can you just take someone else’s money?”

Upon hearing Little Hei’s response, Fang Zheng glared at her.

”Later, we’ll burn some paper money to return it.”

”Got it!”

During their conversation, the two had already reached the back of the convenience store. According to what Kei Shidou had said, this was where she and her friend had hidden a warehouse, but...

”Hmm... What do you think, Little Hei?”

”My thoughts are the same as yours, Big Brother.”

As Little Hei stuffed another handful of chips into her mouth, she looked at the half-open door and shook her head. In fact, ever since they approached the convenience store, both had sensed it. The entire convenience store was enveloped in deathly silence. With Fang Zheng and Little Hei’s senses, they hadn’t even detected any heartbeat or breathing in here, which spoke volumes...

”Now, it’s just uncertain whether that person managed to escape or had the misfortune of dying inside.”

As she spoke, Little Hei furrowed her brows and sniffled a bit.

”It’s all this damn smell of blood everywhere, I can’t tell what’s going on inside.”

”Anyway, we won’t know until we go in and see.”

As he said that, Fang Zheng pushed open the large door of the warehouse in front of him and went inside.

”Step... step...”

The sound of footsteps echoed in the empty warehouse. Looking around, they saw no corpses or bloodstains, but from the items arranged around, it was clear that someone had indeed lived here. However, it was obvious that the person had left some time ago.

”At least a day ago.”

Fang Zheng extended his finger and touched the nearby table. Little Hei also had her arms crossed, closely observing the ”crime scene.”

”There are no signs of struggle, and things also seem to have been tidied up. The other party was clearly prepared. Big brother, where do you think that person could have gone?”

”She better not have gone to look for Kei Shidou out of worry, otherwise, this would really turn into a dark joke.”

Fang Zheng shook his head helplessly. Currently, there were no bodies nearby, nor any signs of battle; everything was very clean and orderly, indicating that the person had been prepared before leaving. According to what Kei Shidou said, it had taken her three days to reach the train station. Even though this journey would normally take at most half a day, considering the three shifts of zombies and those creatures, taking two or three days was quite normal.

After all, only dusk was safe, and they still needed to find spots to hide from the creatures and zombies, which would consume a lot of time.

”But it shouldn’t be like this, right? Didn’t that sister say that her friend had a disagreement with her on this point, which is why they split up?”

Little Hei shook her head. Kei Shidou herself had explained why she had acted independently, due to the increasing anxiety after an initially stable life with her friend. Her friend thought staying put was safest, and they could endure until rescue arrived. But Kei Shidou believed they couldn’t continue like this; despite having reserves of water and food, they would run out eventually, and even with rescue, they’d miss their chance if they didn’t make a move.

Frankly speaking, neither perspective was wrong, but in this situation ...

”Moreover, if that person really thought this way, I feel they wouldn’t act so rashly. We can think of the possibility of being separated, the other party should be able to think of it too. From the tidied and arranged signs here, that person was clearly prepared before leaving, not impulsively leaving in a moment of confusion. Under these circumstances, would she really go after Kei Shidou?”

”Hmm ... Let me think, let me think ...”

Hearing Little Hei’s guess, Fang Zheng nodded his head and then furrowed his brows, carefully recalling the plot of Academy Island. To be honest, Fang Zheng didn’t have a very deep impression of this anime, even less so than of Academy Apocalypse. The reason was simple, Academy Apocalypse was about fighting zombies in a survival scenario, so he had really enjoyed watching it.

However, Fang Zheng had initially watched Academy Island for emotional solace, but instead...

I remember... In the middle of Academy Island’s series, the main characters rescued someone from a department store... Wait, isn’t this the plot? But I recall it was a department store, not a convenience store... Oh well, it’s probably due to this world. freёwebnoѵel.com

All because of Umbrella!

”Little Hei!”

Having thought this, Fang Zheng quickly made a decision.

”We must head to Megurigaoka Academy right away to assess the situation!”

Based on Fang Zheng’s vaguely remembered plot, if Kei Shidou’s friend really was the one he had seen being rescued in the anime, then they should have returned to Megurigaoka Academy. Thus, if Fang Zheng headed to Megurigaoka Academy, he should be able to find them.

Though that was the theory, Fang Zheng was far from relaxed. After all, the storyline of this world had diverged greatly from the world of Academy Island, so it was uncertain whether the characters at Megurigaoka would act according to the anime he had watched.

After all, the zombies in the world of Academy Island moved very slowly, but here ... there were even Lickers!

As expected, when Fang Zheng and Little Hei arrived at Megurigaoka Academy, the scene that unfolded before them made Fang Zheng curse.

”Damn it! Just as I thought!!”

No wonder Fang Zheng had lost his composure, for in front of him, all of Megurigaoka Academy was pitch black, looking as if it had caught fire, with even the eastern academic building collapsed in part, resembling the aftermath of an aerial bombardment or something of the like... It was truly a dreadful sight!

Fang Zheng quickly activated his personal terminal and conducted a scan of the entire Megurigaoka Academy, but the results showed... not even a mouse was present.

Looking at the empty scan results stretched out before him, Fang Zheng was completely helpless.

Well, this was a total collapse!
