Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 753: Chapter 752: Finally Back to the Orthodox Time Travel World

After some light banter, the group quickly returned their focus to the world before them.

”Brother Fang Zheng, what should we do next?”

”First, we need to figure out where we are, what has happened to this world, and why it has become like this.”

Facing Natsuse’s inquiry, Fang Zheng quickly responded. He knew clearly that he had chosen a lower difficulty not for the simple task of a high-level account leading a low-level account to farm equipment. Instead, Fang Zheng needed to integrate a system and set of rules for the Heavenly Dao Palace to follow during this adventure. In the future, when others time-traveled, they could act strictly according to these regulations and guidelines.

Thus, Fang Zheng immediately drew on his past experiences and sprang into action.

”From what we can see, this city has clearly experienced an attack. For now, let’s figure out where we are... Okay, it seems we already know where we are.”

While speaking, Fang Zheng activated the lighting system on his personal terminal and shone the light toward a sign not far away. The words ”Yokohama Art Museum” stood out prominently on it.

”We’re back in Japan, huh.”

Seeing the sign, Little Hei seemed somewhat disappointed.

”I thought we would be in a completely different place.”

Fang Zheng didn’t say much in response to Little Hei’s complaint. Instead, he furrowed his brows and started to meticulously search his mind for any relevant information. From the looks of it, the city didn’t appear to have suffered from disasters like earthquakes or tsunamis, so it was certain that this wasn’t the world of ”Disaster Report”. Judging by appearances, it seemed more like a world with zombies. However, Fang Zheng didn’t have a deep memory of zombie games or animations; he had only played Resident Evil and watched a few European and American zombie horror films — none of which featured Japan as the main backdrop, right?

If this was Raccoon Town, Fang Zheng would have realized it immediately, but this clearly wasn’t Raccoon Town. If he remembered correctly, there seemed to be a Resident Evil movie that started with scenes in Tokyo, Japan, but that was just a few shots, wasn’t it? If this world belonged to Resident Evil, it wouldn’t make sense for the system to throw him into a place completely unrelated to the main storyline.

After all, there’s the Pacific Ocean between this place and North America!

And more importantly... where are the zombies?

From the abandoned vehicles on the streets, to the blood on the ground, and the signs of destruction around, it was obvious that an event similar to Resident Evil had occurred, but there were no bodies or zombies to be seen? What kind of pattern was this?

”Activate the radar, carry out a biological scan.”

He mentioned to the other four and then casually turned on the biological scanning system on his personal terminal. What followed... left him staring at a field of bright red.

”What the heck!?”

This not only startled Fang Zheng but Natsuse and the others as well. On the biological scan interface of the personal terminal, the ground beneath their feet was covered with red dots, densely filling almost the entire surface. If one only looked at the radar, they might even think they were standing on the heads of countless people!

But... there was nothing below them except for the asphalt road, right?

No, there was something else...

With this thought, Fang Zheng and Little Hei exchanged glances, the latter nodding solemnly as she lifted her dagger and pointed toward a nearby sewer entrance.

”Watch your steps, let’s leave this place first.”

Although Fang Zheng had a myriad of ways to solve the problem at hand, this was a ”newbie tutorial”, thus actions like ”turning into a Time Dragon and blowing all the zombies away in one breath” were clearly not viable options. Hence, Fang Zheng quickly made a decision, lowering his voice to give orders to the other four.

But just at that moment, an abnormality suddenly occurred!

”Clang!” ƒrēewebnoѵёl.cσm

Suddenly, a sewer cover near Fang Zheng and the group exploded open. Immediately afterward, they saw several gaunt figures, reeking of filth from head to toe, scramble out of the sewer using hands and feet and madly rush towards them!

Damn it, I freaking knew it would be like this!

Although the ambush caught Fang Zheng by surprise, he also breathed a sigh of relief— at least now he knew what to do!

”Prepare for battle!”

While shouting, Fang Zheng summoned Ester and Restia, but to his annoyance, in this world, these two Sword Sprites seemed to be unable to maintain their human form and could only appear in the form of weapons... But for Fang Zheng, this was already enough!

At this moment, the creatures that burst out from the well had reached right in front of Fang Zheng. As he had expected, their appearance was not much different from ordinary humans, except that these creatures were almost skin and bones, emanating an unbearable fishy stench, while their eyes gleamed with a bright red radiance, looking like some sort of fierce beasts!

”Crack!”

The Pitch Black Greatsword in Fang Zheng’s hands split with the sound, transforming into a whip blade that lashed forward. Accompanied by the flash of the sword light, the zombies rushing toward Fang Zheng were thoroughly dismembered, turning into scattered chunks of flesh. However, this did not stop other zombies from appearing; at the same time, as if responding to a call, the pitch-black convenience store, the underground parking lot, and even the bushes— places that should have been empty—gradually revealed hundreds and thousands of zombies. Opening their mouths, they let out meaningless roars and madly pounced on their prey in front of them!

”Big brother, what do we do now?”

Watching the tide of zombies ahead, Little Hei also raised her weapon and asked loudly. Hearing Little Hei’s question, Fang Zheng thought for a moment and then issued his command without hesitation.

”Eliminate them all!”

”Understood!”

Before the echoes of their voices faded, Little Hei’s figure suddenly vanished from the zombies’ eyesight, dashing through the crowd like lightning. Her Dual Blades twirled above and below, and wherever she went, heads soared into the air, while the zombies fell to the ground at the sound.

Although the zombies could reach the speed of a human sprint when bursting forth with all their strength, their responsiveness was obviously quite slow. Even an ordinary person could dodge their attacks if they concentrated, not to mention a Heroic Spirit like Little Hei, who was far beyond the norm.

Perhaps sensing the threat, or maybe just instinctively trying to flee, a portion of the zombies soon began heading in another direction, trying to attack other targets.

But quickly, they were torn apart by the hunters that emerged from the darkness.

Midori leaped out from the shadows like a cat, her hands raised in parallel, as Psionic Blades swept across the air in crisscross patterns. Wherever she went, the zombies fell to the ground like plastic dummies in a store. As the other zombies realized what was happening and planned to retaliate, Midori did a roll and disappeared back into the shadows before reappearing behind them.

Compared to Little Hei and Midori, Tina’s attack method was much more violent. For Tina, who specialized in long-range sniping and detection, combatting so many zombies was not her forte, but that did not mean she had no way to deal with these zombies.

”Ohhhhh!!”

Dozens of zombies burst out of the underground garage and rushed towards Tina. If it were a normal little girl, just the sight of these ugly zombies and their frightening sounds would probably make her shiver and unable to speak. But for Tina, these obviously weren’t an issue. Facing the zombies charging at her, Tina merely took two steps back, her hands behind her back, watching the tide of corpses with composure.

Perhaps feeling underestimated, the zombies that rushed out of the garage raised their hands and lunged forward. Just a bit closer, and they could tear apart this fresh flesh to satisfy their voracious hunger!

However, at the same time, the zombies stopped in their tracks.

No, it might be more accurate to say, they were forced to stop.

Countless fine and sturdy threads, like a spider web, emerged quietly from the air, wrapping tightly around the limbs and necks of the zombies, connecting to various objects like pillars around them, blocking the zombies’ path. Although the zombies behind desperately tried to push forward, these threads, thin like hair, were extraordinarily tough and showed no sign of breaking.

Next, Tina reached out, grabbed the ring emerging from the black glove on her right hand, and gave it a gentle tug.

Accompanied by the sudden contraction of the threads, blood mixed with flying limbs scattered across the ground.

However, the most devastating attack came from Natsuse.

The girl merely raised her right hand and pushed it forward slightly. An invisible Psionic Shockwave immediately blasted all the zombies on half the street. As these zombies landed once again, they had been completely frozen by the psionic impact and then burst into dust, leaving not a single trace behind.

Indeed, mages— no, Superpower Users could do as they pleased.
