Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 788: Chapter 787: What on Earth is This...?

Accompanied by the alarm, the entire Hive was thrown into chaos, with many researchers who were conducting experiments having no idea what was happening, only to find themselves locked in their labs. Meanwhile, the clone troopers sprang into action upon hearing the alarm; however, Fang Zheng had already locked down the armory, leaving these soldiers with no choice but to sigh in frustration.

The Umbrella Corporation’s Hive is fully equipped with high-tech standards, and they have immense confidence in their technology, not to mention that a crucial research base like the Hive is physically isolated from external networks. According to the typical procedure in this world, if you want to hack into the Hive’s mainframe, you must first crawl through the ventilation ducts like in ”Mission: Impossible,” evade the central mainframe’s surveillance, then enter the heavily guarded server room, and finally connect to the mainframe port before you can begin the intrusion.

Not to mention that the Umbrella Corporation’s firewall is as sensitive as a menopausal woman: don’t even think about hacking—you’d trigger an alarm just by taking a peek.

Logically speaking, even James Bond of this world would dream of hacking into the Hive’s mainframe.

But who could have predicted that there would come a Fang Zheng in this world? His personal terminal is a hybrid of high technologies from Star Spirit and Synapsus, which leaves an immeasurable gap between Umbrella’s technologies. Even in the Elf World, AST’s Kang Zheng could kill them in one click—needless to mention this subpar system of Umbrella’s. Before they could even say ”What are you looking at?”, he had already swung his club, knocked them unconscious, and dragged them away.

”Ding...”

The elevator doors opened slowly and Fang Zheng stepped out briskly. The first thing that came into view was the purely white lobby and corridors, all boasting a ”I am high-tech” vibe—well, at least it looked the part, whatever the reality might be.

At this moment, many researchers locked in the labs also saw Fang Zheng and his group. These researchers had no idea what had transpired outside and thought they were rescuers sent from above, eagerly knocking on the walls and windows trying to get the attention of Fang Zheng and others.

”Mr. Fang Zheng, they...”

Seeing the researchers, Rea was evidently uneasy; after all, she was just a young lady and had never done anything too outrageous. Watching these people banging on the windows and begging for help made Rea feel somewhat troubled.

”Don’t be deceived by appearances, Rea.”

Fang Zheng merely glanced at those noisy individuals and then promptly diverted his gaze.

”Despite these people looking harmless, the virus outside is closely linked to them, as well as those clone soldiers and the modified mutant zombies... What do you think they are doing here? This is exactly what they are here for!”

”.........”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s response, Rea hesitated for a moment but eventually shut her mouth willingly. As Fang Zheng had said, these people only appeared innocent on the surface. They might not have personally committed murder, and they might just have been holding their coffees and conducting research in this underground base every day. However, their research had become the greatest hazard to the world...

It could be said that everyone working here could be taken out and shot without any injustice being done.

Now, by merely locking them up, Fang Zheng was already being quite humane.

The Hive was extensive, and it was Fang Zheng and his company’s first visit. Locating the so-called ”Saga Project” was no easy task, but luckily, the advantage of high-level automation meant simplicity and directness. At first, Fang Zheng pretentiously projected a map, planning to find his own way, but growing annoyed, he eventually opted for a one-click query. Following that, a row of LED lights suddenly appeared beneath their feet, forming arrows to guide them in the right direction... Ah, much more convenient indeed.

Since most of the soldiers had been sealed in the passages by Fang Zheng, their journey was extremely smooth; they encountered no obstacles and swiftly arrived at a special research area beneath the Hive. Unlike the labs above, this one was entirely made from stainless steel, giving more the impression of a bank vault than a research department.

Of course, Fang Zheng didn’t mind such details. He stretched out his hand and waved it through the air; the next moment, with a ”hiss” of air, the heavy stainless steel door slowly opened, and Fang Zheng led Little Hei and the others inside.

Inside the lab, a group of researchers in white lab coats were gathered around an operating table, conducting experiments. In front of them was the head of a young girl with long pink hair, her eyes tightly closed, her head bristling with all sorts of electric shock devices.

On another operating table, a headless corpse lay; it seemed to be the body of the young girl.

These people...

Seeing this scene, Fang Zheng furrowed his brow, while Rea covered her mouth in shock. From the bluish color of the girl’s skin, it was evident she was a zombie. Even so, being treated like this was a bit too cruel.

For Rea, this was personally relatable because she was a zombie herself!!

Would she one day be beheaded and used as an experimental subject?

”Who are you people?”

At this moment, one of the researchers also noticed Fang Zheng and the others walking in. He frowned, turned around solemnly, and shouted loudly at Fang Zheng.

”Which department are you from? Why haven’t you followed the decontamination procedure? Where are your protective suits? Wait, you......”

”Enough talk!”

Fang Zheng had no intention of wasting words. With a casual wave of his hand, the next moment, the researchers were swept up by the rising airflow and slammed heavily into the wall, then they fell unconscious without a word. Meanwhile, Fang Zheng and his group quickly approached the severed head of the young lady zombie and began to examine it closely.

Well...... it had to be admitted that, compared to Rea and Walnut, this young lady zombie looked more like a ”zombie”, but clearly, it wouldn’t be just an ordinary zombie for the Umbrella Corporation to research in such a place. Fang Zheng opened the nearby computer and quickly found the information he needed without much effort.

”Flan Chou Chou’s Combinational Target No.1 observation, Minamoto Sakura, based on analysis, the target’s body has been dead for a long time, however, the brain still maintains operational capability......”

Besides the textual introduction about this young lady zombie, there was also a video record in the computer. The moment he saw this video, Little Hei suddenly exclaimed.

”Hey! Isn’t this the ’Farron Xiuxiu’ we were looking for?”

”It seems so indeed.”

Hearing Little Hei’s exclamation, Fang Zheng nodded, took a careful look at the girls who were singing and dancing in the video, and then looked at the head of the zombie girl—although there were some differences, it was clear that the long-haired girl in the video was the owner of the head.

”It seems that the Umbrella has also set their sights on this group.”

Watching the video playing on the screen, Fang Zheng murmured to himself. He had originally thought that the zombies in Saga were the works of the Umbrella Corporation, but after watching the record, Fang Zheng found that his previous thoughts were mistaken. It seemed that the Umbrella Corporation had also noticed their existence and thus had brought them to the Hive... and conducted experiments on them.

”How pitiful......”

Looking at the girl’s head lying askew on the table, still with electrodes stuck in it, Rea murmured involuntarily, and Fang Zheng sighed helplessly. It now seemed that the so-called ”Saga Project” must have referred to the plan to study and investigate these zombie girls from the ”Flan Chou Chou” group, and apparently, these zombie girls had already been dismembered by the Umbrella... meaning, this trip had been in vain.

”Alright, we......”

But before Fang Zheng could finish speaking, suddenly, the zombie head that had been lying on the table with closed eyes, abruptly opened her eyes and looked towards Fang Zheng and the others. Then, she opened her mouth.

”Ah...... um, is the experiment over? Can I have my head put back? It’s quite cold on the table...... it feels a bit uncomfortable......”

”...............”

”............??”

Staring at the head of the young lady zombie that remained talking despite only being a head, Fang Zheng was completely stunned.

What the heck is this?
