Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 759: Chapter 758: What Should We Do Next?

When Fang Zheng returned to the ”base,” he appeared very calm, but deep down, he was cursing the streets.

Although Fang Zheng had somewhat braced himself mentally beforehand, he had not anticipated the world’s transformations to cause such a significant and twisted effect. Now, the only group of protagonists that he recognized in this world was missing... Indeed, this could be considered good news.

At least Fang Zheng and Little Hei had not discovered the corpses of those protagonists at Megurigaoka Academy.

Of course, to put it positively, those protagonists might have fled before the incident, so no corpses were found. On the negative side... that means they’ve all turned into zombies, or were buried in piles of earth, and naturally, no trace of them could be found...

”Mr. Fang Zheng!”

Seeing Fang Zheng and Little Hei return, Kei Shidou’s eyes lit up, but her expression changed slightly when she noticed they were alone. Nevertheless, she hurried over to Fang Zheng’s side and looked at him as she began to ask.

”How did it go? Miki, she...”

”We didn’t find anyone in the warehouse.”

Faced with Kei Shidou’s question, Fang Zheng did not hesitate much before giving his answer.

”We searched the warehouse and there definitely were signs that someone lived there, but by the time we arrived, the person who had been living there had already left.”

”Left?”

Hearing Fang Zheng’s response, Kei Shidou’s eyes widened in surprise, while Little Hei nodded on the side.

”Yes, although we aren’t sure what happened, according to the investigation by me and Brother, the person living there wasn’t suddenly attacked and didn’t flee in a hurry. She clearly made preparations, and it was a conscious departure. As for why she did so... me and Brother don’t know either.”

”How could this be, Miki... How is this possible?”

Kei Shidou looked very surprised, and Fang Zheng could understand why since one of her friends had previously said during their argument, ”Even if I’m to die, even if I jump from here, I will never leave!”

And now, that statement had thoroughly backfired.

”So, Brother Fang Zheng, what should we do now?”

In contrast to Kei Shidou, the other three girls seemed much more composed. They were initially scared by the sights of the city upon their arrival, but once they got used to it, they found that there wasn’t much danger for them here. At least, compared to the Intestinal Creatures in the Black World, the ”zombies” of this world were significantly less lethal.

”Natsuse, how’s the condition of the equipment here?”

Fang Zheng pondered for a moment, then looked towards Natsuse and asked.

”Most of the equipment is not damaged and can be activated as long as there is a power supply. Some parts need repairs, while the rest is basically scrapped, but those are just ordinary equipment, nothing particularly important.”

”Can the broadcasting tower be used?”

”It can.”

”Good.”

Hearing Natsuse’s response, Fang Zheng thought for a moment, then made a decision.

”Then, let’s do this: for now, we will use this as our base and gradually clear out the zombies in the vicinity. Natsuse, you go and start the broadcasting tower, set it to broadcast every three hours, informing those in the surrounding area that there’s a survivor base at Yokohama North Station where we can ensure their safety. Remember, you must explicitly state not to have them come on their own. If they wish to come, they should light smoke signals, and we will send people to bring them here.”

”Okay, Brother Fang Zheng.”

Natsuse nodded slightly, indicating understanding, and then Fang Zheng turned to Tina.

”Tina, you’re in charge of guarding the high points here. Remember to observe the surroundings and report any abnormalities to me immediately. Midori, you’re responsible for staying at the base, the logistics here are in your hands.”

”All right.”

”Understood.”

Having heard this, Tina and Midori nodded, and finally, Fang Zheng looked towards Little Hei.

”So, Little Hei will join me in searching the surroundings and eliminating any threats. No problems, right?”

”Of course not.”

Little Hei giggled and snapped her fingers.

”Hahaha, this time I can help big brother out. When we get back, I’m going to show Illya who really deserves to be the big sister!”

Facing Little Hei’s response, Fang Zheng helplessly rolled his eyes. He had come to know a bit about the issue between Little Hei and Illya. According to Little Hei, she was the original ”Illya” born first, but in her world, her father chose not to participate in the Holy Grail War and left Einzbern Castle with Irisviel and Illya instead.

To protect Illya, her mother Irisviel sealed the personality of ”Illya” that held the knowledge of Einzbern’s Magecraft and the Holy Grail. From then on, the original ”Illya” personality was sealed, and a new ”Illya” was born.

All along, it had been the new ”Illya” who dominated the personality, but after an incident, the originally sealed personality was separated from Illya’s body in a form similar to a Servant, becoming ”Little Hei.”

Of course, if we’re speaking chronologically, ”Little Hei” was born first, making her definitely the older sister.

But the reason Illya insisted so stubbornly was simple: during their first meeting, Little Hei foolishly called her ”big sister”...

Once a sister always a sister... That was why the two little ones incessantly argued over this.

However, Fang Zheng didn’t have any other solutions right now. The sudden disappearance of the main cast (they might even have been wiped out) was indeed giving Fang Zheng a headache. All he could do was take it one step at a time and see how things unfolded. That’s why Fang Zheng chose to stand his ground here, monitoring this world while waiting for a chance encounter. Naturally, it would be best if he could meet other key characters who could provide information.

And if he encountered enemies with ill intentions... well, that would be even better!

At least Fang Zheng knew whom to deal with!

”Mr. Fang Zheng...”

At that moment, Kei Shidou hesitantly raised her hand.

”Is there anything I can do?”

”Then, Miss Shidou, please take care of the logistics for the base together with Midori.”

Faced with Kei Shidou’s inquiry, Fang Zheng quickly gave his answer.

”After all, the sanitary conditions here aren’t very good, and it’s currently not suitable for living. If we could arrange for it to be cleaner, that would naturally be better.”

”Okay, I understand.”

Upon hearing Fang Zheng’s reply, Kei Shidou also breathed a sigh of relief. Then she clenched her fists and nodded vigorously.

”I’ll do my best!”

”Very well.”

Looking at Kei Shidou before him, Fang Zheng smiled slightly. He certainly understood Kei Shidou’s thoughts. With her friends missing and her family probably having met with disaster, it was better to keep busy with something than to sit around and engage in wild speculations. Even if it meant working herself to exhaustion like a dead dog, it beat lying on the floor with idle fantasies.

As for what comes next... well, it’s time to see what this world has become!
