Dimensional Codex System: I'm really not a cultist!

Chapter 786: Chapter 785: A Difficult Task to Complete............

At the same time, Fang Zheng, along with a deeply shaken Rea and Walnut, had returned to the yacht. The two girls remained silent and downhearted throughout the journey.

Fang Zheng could understand their feelings; after all, all the enemies they had faced so far were zombies. Perhaps because of this, these young girls still harbored the belief deep in their hearts that ”humanity would unite to confront external threats,” but the harsh reality they were confronted with told them that the world was not as beautiful as they imagined.

After everyone returned to the yacht, which served as their base, they discovered that the yacht had also been attacked by the Clone Troopers. However, with the combined efforts of Natsuse, Tina, and others, they successfully repelled the attack without causing any damage to the yacht.

”Mr. Fang Zheng, why did they attack us?”

Looking at the chaotic dock covered in debris and smoke, Rea couldn’t understand why all this was happening. They hadn’t done anything wrong, so why were they being pursued and attacked?

”I don’t know either.”

In response to Rea’s question, Fang Zheng merely shrugged helplessly. Honestly, he couldn’t understand what Umbrella Corporation was thinking with such an idiotic move. If Umbrella wanted to ”corral” survivors, there were better methods than direct attacks and captures. Fang Zheng had plenty of experience in this; in the Pitch Black World, he rarely resorted to coercion when sheltering those in distress, knowing full well that people would naturally gravitate towards him if he truly provided refuge.

With the scale and resources of Umbrella, even allocating just a small part of their resources would suffice to build a shelter capable of housing everyone. From there, it wouldn’t take much time to deceitfully lead them into cryopods or something similar with smooth-talking.

In comparison, sending Clone Troopers to capture survivors was an incredibly foolish act. It not only wasted resources but also incited resentment among the survivors. If someone were to escape, then Umbrella would face endless reprisals. Of course, the survivors of this world did not possess the same powers as the thwarted ones in the Pitch Black World, making it hard for them to take any meaningful retaliatory actions against Umbrella.

But then again, if you were to experiment on these people, aren’t you afraid they might seek revenge against Umbrella with newfound powers? Much like in the movies, where Matt, turned into a tracker, eventually betrayed Umbrella and fiercely attacked them?

As the highest leader of an organization, Fang Zheng couldn’t fathom how to explain Umbrella’s series of baffling actions... At least he was also unclear what Umbrella’s true purpose was in capturing survivors.

It was as perplexing as why Umbrella, with such advanced technology, would bother competing against a mere virus.

Either the top brass of Umbrella are all idiots, or they are aliens in human skin, merely pretending to be humans to take over the Earth and destroy humanity...Thinking this way, it suddenly seemed like a more plausible explanation!

”Should we leave this place?”

At this moment, Walnut also appeared afraid. If it weren’t for Fang Zheng and Little Hei, they might have already been captured by those fearsome soldiers. If it were just ordinary people, it would be one thing, but now Rea and Walnut were zombies. If caught...they could be used as experimental subjects...

This thought made even Walnut uneasy.

However, Fang Zheng rejected their suggestion.

”No, we have to stay here.”

”Huh?”

Upon hearing Fang Zheng’s decision, Rea, Walnut, and Kei Shidou were all taken by surprise.

”Why, why?”

”It’s simple,”

Fang Zheng said with a slight smile, addressing their puzzled looks.

”You must have noticed, these guys were specifically here to capture survivors. Seeing how adept they are at it, it’s clear they’re not just after us...so...”

”So, Mr. Fang Zheng, you mean to say there are other survivors who have been captured by these people?”

Upon hearing this, Rea quickly caught on while Fang Zheng nodded in confirmation.

”Exactly, we have not found any survivors in our journey so far, which means they were likely taken by them. If that’s the case, if we locate their stronghold, we can surely find those captured survivors.”

”But...that would be the Umbrella Corporation...”

For Fang Zheng and the others, maybe Umbrella wasn’t much of a threat, but for Walnut and the others, it clearly made them uneasy. In their world, Umbrella was one of the top corporations, but they were just ordinary people—Rea possibly excepted. Even her, had never thought of directly confronting such a massive entity.

Not to mention...they had a fully armed army...

”So, I said, now is the time for you to make your choice,”

At this point, Fang Zheng looked towards the young girls in front of him.

”This is what we need to do next. Remember, our enemies are not only zombies but also humans. Do you understand now? This is reality, not a game. The people you meet might not necessarily be your allies; they could also be your enemies...”

”......”

This time, Walnut didn’t speak, Rea didn’t speak, and Kei Shidou didn’t either. If they had held any fantasies before, then this time, the Umbrella’s attack stripped them of any illusions about reality.

”Natsuse, start the yacht. It’s no longer safe here; let’s leave this place,”

Fang Zheng didn’t intend to immediately press the girls for an answer. After all, they were still young, and it was only natural to give them some time to think. Thus, Fang Zheng decided to skip this topic and issued a command to Natsuse.

”After this incident, Umbrella will surely be cautious about us. Staying here and waiting to be found is not a good choice. Let’s leave and find a secluded spot to land again.”

”Okay, Brother Zheng,”

Upon hearing Fang Zheng’s command, Natsuse nodded, and then she asked,

”What about the broadcast?”

”Turn off the radio. Considering Umbrella’s actions, the survivors nearby must have mostly been captured by them. Turning on the radio would only expose our position. From now on, activate radio silence; we won’t receive any signals.”

”Yes.”

Natsuse nodded, then reached out her hand and gently pressed the button on the console. Soon, the radio was turned off again, and the yacht quickly turned around, disappearing into the depths of the ocean...”

However, shortly after the yacht left the dock, a figure hurriedly ran over.

”Wait! Wait! Damn it!”

The disheveled youth clenched his teeth as he watched the yacht disappear on the other side of the sea level, at a loss for words. He quickly pulled out the radio at his waist, turned it on, and started shouting loudly.

”Revelation, is this Revelation? I need rescue! Please save me! Save me!”

”......”

However, there was deathly silence on the other end of the radio, not a hint of a response.

”Damn, why is this happening!”

Komuro Takashi punched the dock. He had barely managed to make a deal with the Sunglasses Man, who requested him to infiltrate the mysterious team as a survivor, secretly observe the team, and report to Umbrella Corporation. According to the plan, Komuro Takashi should have contacted the people on the yacht with his radio and then mixed in with them.

But to his surprise, just as he arrived at the dock, he saw their yacht turn around and leave!!

Even using the radio, there was no response at all!

What should he do now?!

Thinking this, Komuro Takashi couldn’t help but look at the radio in his hand, which contained a locator from Umbrella, but now... he simply couldn’t board the ship! What should he do?

If he cannot complete his mission, those people from Umbrella definitely won’t let Li and Saya leave peacefully!

But the problem is......

Looking at the yacht disappearing into the sea horizon, Komuro Takashi’s heart sank.

It seemed like the mission... might not be accomplishable after all?
