Chapter 648: Chapter 198: Contract, Test_3

Feeling a bit bored, Chen Ming casually asked Bai Quan, ”By the way, you’re currently at the Fourteenth Legion’s headquarters, right?”

”Yes.”

”Isn’t it troublesome managing the Gallo Star Realm over there?”

”Not really. I left a trustworthy deputy at the base over there.”

”Besides, after that battle at Dusk and the downfall of a few troublemakers in the battle zone, the internal issues are no longer problems.”

”My absence for a while won’t cause any impact.”

”Moreover, the headquarters here also supports me. I’ll head back as soon as the ceremony is over.”

”I still need to expand the influence of our Fourteenth Legion in the Gallo Star Realm.”

Chen Ming suddenly recalled something and asked, ”Did you mention before that your Fourteenth Legion came to the Gallo Star Realm because the progress on the front line was not ideal, so you wanted to increase investment in other areas to create results?”

Bai Quan paused his contract sorting for a moment, then said to Chen Ming, ”Initially, no.”

”At first, it was purely because Cheng Xinghe, that brat, was causing trouble outside, and I had to go over and bring him back.”

”But once I got there, I did a quick investigation and discovered that the local army in this Edge Star Realm was undisciplined and corrupt.”

”Yet, they managed to hold the border while dealing with a Dusk branch star realm and a Mechanical Race branch star realm, which was very strange.”

”So I applied some pressure on the local army and took some time to investigate.”

”Turns out, not everyone was turning bad. Some soldiers in a few units hadn’t gone along with the corruption; they were the ones primarily resisting the Mechanical Race and the Dusk.”

”Then, Sinda Corporation happened to provide a detailed list of smuggled goods and personnel.”

”With that document and an urgently dispatched appointment letter from the rear, we took control of this area.”

”Those who needed to be sent to the military court were sent; those who needed to be assimilated were assimilated.”

”In short, our Fourteenth Legion took over the military management of this star region entirely, and then we had the idea to create an opening in this direction.”

”This was also partly due to recent policy changes from the Empire.”

Listening to Bai Quan’s account, Chen Ming suddenly remembered something that had happened before, and he immediately said, ”Wait a minute.”

”What’s up?”

Amid Bai Quan’s confusion, Chen Ming opened the panel of the Mule Level logistics freighter currently drifting across the star realm with Gamma B in the Gallo Star Realm.

He then confirmed the warehouse on the panel.

Subsequently, Chen Ming said to Bai Quan, ”I have something on hand.”

Chen Ming used his spiritual energy on the Mule Level, sending an item from the Mule Level’s cargo hold over to Bai Quan.

”What’s this? Dog... ahem, dog tags?”

”Yes.”

The dog tags Chen Ming had just sent over were found on a soldier’s corpse that got stuck in the escape hatch of a military ship captured when Gamma A, with Refraction, along with Dusk’s fleet, raided the military outpost near Rimu Star in the Galor-2 Star Zone.

And along with these dog tags, they found evidence of the Galor-2 Star Zone Military’s smuggling corruption, which Chen Ming had discovered and handed over to Sinda Corporation, eventually getting disseminated.

Even though he had specifically organized things onto the Mule before, he hadn’t expected it to be preserved until now.

Chen Ming explained to Bai Quan how he obtained the dog tags.

Now that his spiritual energy had been revealed, there was no need to hide past events.

At the end of the explanation, Chen Ming added, ”I’m not sure how you handled that soldier on your side, but I really hope he was treated justly.”

Bai Quan temporarily put the terminal down, lowered his head, looked at the dog tags in his hand, and rubbed the name on them, saying, ”Rest assured, the Fourteenth Legion has a comprehensive guarantee for all fallen soldiers, ensuring no one feels disheartened.”

”I’ll specifically arrange for someone to investigate. The investigation results will also be made public; just wait and see in the news.”

Bai Quan put away the dog tags and said to Chen Ming, ”Speaking of which, I remember you telling me before that I would soon know why you, who studies spaceship technology, were suddenly interested in biological technology, right?”

Chen Ming nodded and replied, ”Indeed, it’s soon. It should be at your promotion ceremony.”

”Seems like it’s related to me.”

”Yes, it has a lot to do with you.”

”Good or bad?”

”On your big day, how could it be bad?”

”That’s good to hear.”

”Oh, by the way, since you mentioned the upcoming ceremony, there’s something I need to tell you.”

”I probably can’t spare any time for the next few days, so the teaching sessions might need to pause for a bit.”

Chen Ming understood Bai Quan’s busyness.

Moreover, Bai Quan had managed to set aside time for teaching every day for the past month, showing how much he valued him.

So Chen Ming wasn’t surprised or unable to accept it when Bai Quan mentioned that teaching would pause for a few days.

”So I can take this time to digest what I’ve learned recently.”

Bai Quan laughed and said, ”I think you don’t even need to digest. Your learning efficiency is such that it’s like you’ve already digested everything the first time, especially in these past few days.”

Chen Ming indeed felt that his learning efficiency had been incredible these past couple of days.
