Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 610: Chapter 189: Advancement

The sudden sound in the sky was the sharp whistle of a salvo from the Blazing Silkworm Cannons.

The long-range artillery of the Blazing Silkworm is not purely flame damage, but also carries a secondary blast impact.

If it lands in a dense swarm of insects, the effect would be terrifying.

Chen Ming had witnessed this scene firsthand, so he knew it must not happen.

At this moment, a new type of insect suddenly appeared at the rear of the insect swarm.

It resembled the Bubble Insect in appearance, but it was distinctly different.

What it ejected was not acid, but a liquid that rapidly solidified in the air.

This rapidly solidifying liquid bore the black of the Insect Race’s carapace and the bright green of the Insect Race’s energy crystal.

This caused the liquid, upon solidifying during flight, to form a sharp cone with strong penetration and an explosive nature when destroyed.

It was essentially a biological armor-piercing explosive projectile.

Although its coverage area was smaller than that of another insect that directly sprayed large amounts of liquefied unstable energy crystals.

However, its ability for pinpoint blasting was clearly superior to that of the other insect.

Moreover, the flight speed, distance, and accuracy of the crystal cones ejected by these insects with developed throat muscles were even higher.

Meaning they could intercept the falling artillery from the Blazing Silkworm in the sky.

On the planet where the Insect Race and Mechanical Race were battling, there was no atmosphere.

In the sky, besides the flaming debris of the destroyed Orbital Defense Satellites and the posture of Chen Ming’s five Cruisers.

There remained the consecutive launches of the Blazing Silkworm, each shot hotter, more blazing red than the last, nearing pure white in the end.

Dozens of insects launching crystal cones were scattered throughout the insect swarm, easily locking onto the fall points and trajectories of these artillery shells.

Countless massive fireballs exploded in the air.

Instantly lighting the planet’s nighttime ground as bright as day.

But the insects are not machines, and their actions can’t be a hundred percent precise.

Moreover, the range capability of the Insect Race is ultimately a weakness, and these insects can’t guarantee that every launched crystal cone will precisely hit the high-speed falling artillery in the sky.

There would still be some that slipped through.

Even if their numbers weren’t many, each shell could cause significant damage to the Insect Race.

Furthermore, the Blazing Silkworms located at the center of the Mechanical Race’s city, far behind the frontline, had not faced any threats from the Insect Race.

The moment their weapons cooled down, the second batch of artillery launched by the Blazing Silkworms appeared once again over the battlefield, above the Insect Race’s heads.

The nearly continuous artillery shells were like a Sword of Damocles, threatening the Insect Race’s offensive line.

If these Blazing Silkworms are not dealt with, it would be difficult for the Insect Race to continue gaining an advantage on the battlefield; instead, the Mechanical Race might gradually turn the tide.

Therefore.

Chen Ming took action himself.

He activated the Speed Particle Spear at the Supreme Point, which was already adjusted in advance, firing at the path of the artillery shells launched by the Blazing Silkworms.

The lack of atmospheric interference allowed this inclined torrent of particles from space to sweep across the sky, precisely annihilating all the artillery shells launched by the Blazing Silkworms within the city.

And as the end of this firing from the Speed Particle Spear approached, Chen Ming controlled the aftermath of the converging Particle Torrent to bypass the Mechanical Race’s Cruiser in the city center, streaking with fire and explosions towards the location of the Blazing Silkworm cluster.

For almost all ground units, a large weapon is a dimension-reducing strike, and even the last lingering aftermath instantly destroyed these Blazing Silkworm clusters that posed a significant threat to the Insect Race.

After the Particle Torrent from the Speed Particle Spear had subsided, a nearly ten-thousand-meter, tens-of-meters-wide blazing red mark was left on the planet’s surface.

Leaving an ugly scar within the Mechanical Race’s city.

This scene left the orchestrator Chen Ming utterly shocked.

But for both the Insect Race and the Mechanical Race, who had just experienced a devastating Particle Torrent overhead.

What just happened did not affect them at all.

They continued to fight to the death.

Only that the Insect Race, without worries from the city center, could charge towards their target more recklessly.

And the large-sized, long-range combat units created by the Insect Queen, capable of launching crystal cones, could now fully unleash their firepower on the frontline once they no longer needed to intercept artillery.

As the Insect Race continued to advance, a new kind of insect appeared on the battlefield.

Upon seeing this new insect, Chen Ming was momentarily stunned because it wasn’t one he had discussed making with the Insect Queen.

Instead, it was something the Insect Queen had just concocted on the battlefield.

This new insect also had an appearance similar to that of the Bubble Insect with developed neck muscles.

What it could spit was clusters of purple Fungal Balls flowing with concentrated liquid, which would directly explode after flying a certain distance in the air.

The exploded fungal liquid had incredibly strong stickiness and maintained connections among each other, forming a giant capturing net.

Used to restrain those flying units of the Mechanical Race in the sky, preventing them from wantonly suppressing the ground insects.

Even though the fungal web also had difficulty capturing these units that could notice the Insect Race’s actions, preemptively react to the other insects’ launched crystal cones, and nimbly evade past them.
