Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 618: Chapter 191: Trap

Chen Ming suddenly discovered that a method he had previously prepared, which he hadn’t paid much attention to, unexpectedly produced a remarkable effect.

Based on the technical level of the Mechanical Race and another civilization, given the distance from this Mechanical City’s center to the Mechanical Race Cruiser, the signal sent by the Cruiser-controlled mechanical body shouldn’t have had any delay.

The source of this situation was the planet-level communication jamming device, composed of three components, which he had activated shortly after the battle began, blocking all communication signals inside and outside the planet.

Although at the time, Chen Ming felt that the effect was not very impressive, as the external support from the Mechanical Race arrived just as quickly.

And because he acted too fast, those Orbital Defense Satellites that should have been effective didn’t show any further impact even though the planet’s signals were blocked.

However, from the beginning, Chen Ming thought it was better to do it than not, so he didn’t mind that it hadn’t had any practical use before.

But he indeed hadn’t expected that a device he arranged somewhat casually, which he thought might have been over-prepared, would actually play a role at such a critical moment.

Once Chen Ming confirmed this point, he did not hesitate.

He immediately remotely controlled the three linked devices, adjusting their frequencies and slightly changing their positions in orbit.

He redirected the entire power of the device, originally used to block all communication signals inside and outside the planet, to the Mechanical Race city, targeting the battle between the Insect Race and the Mechanical Race.

This completely disrupted the signal sent by the Mechanical Race Cruiser, severing all communication signals within the city across all bands.

For a short time, all signals on the entire planet, except those from Chen Ming, would go silent.

After executing the last command it received, that Special Mechanical Body fell into paralysis.

Without this Special Mechanical Body as support, the remaining Mechanical Race had no ability to resist in front of the Insect Race, whose overall numbers had not significantly decreased.

They were easily overwhelmed by the Insect Race.

The Insect Queen once again recklessly sprayed fungus and insect blood, continuously lowering the battlefield temperature through these special substances.

It was also trying to lower the temperature of that Special Mechanical Body.

Within a few minutes, the surrounding environment reverted from the previous orange-red color to the initial pure white.

The molten metal beneath the dozens of craters almost interconnected, which were blasted out by that Special Mechanical Body, nearly solidified.

The Insect Race had at this point completely surrounded the paralyzed Special Mechanical Body with layers of insects.

Those insects that had already moved past began to destroy the remaining few defensive weapons on the Cruiser in the city center.

When all the external security weapons of the Mechanical Race Cruiser were destroyed,

the temperature on the outside of the Special Mechanical Body finally lowered to a level the Insect Race could accept.

The Insect Queen immediately unleashed those parasites on the Special Mechanical Race, allowing the fungus and parasitic nerves to completely control this Mechanical Race.

Although unlike other Mechanical Races controlled by parasites, the parasites on this Special Mechanical Race couldn’t excessively use its capabilities.

But just the previous performance of this Mechanical Race had left a deep impression on Chen Ming.

Chen Ming felt this Mechanical Race was like an elite unit among the Mechanical Race ground units, similar to HR.

After all, it’s just a mechanical body over forty meters long, roughly the size of two stacked small Frigates.

Not significantly different from other Mechanical Races, but its actual combat capabilities were exaggerated to the extreme.

The weapons mounted on its back could almost achieve effects that only large weapons mounted on Level 2 Cruisers could.

Moreover, not only that, this Mechanical Race also possessed the ability to manipulate the environment, indicating that it must have special technology.

The powerful individual combat capability of this Mechanical Race also reminded Chen Ming of the previous Yan Xiong.

Yan Xiong could enter space directly with his body, condensing a Steel Giant from a Cruiser wreck, possessing the ability to single-handedly fight a Cruiser Fleet.

If not for Chen Ming taking him by surprise, forcing him to reveal himself through a wave of Cruiser warp focus fire,

and then feeding Yan Xiong a bit of shipwreck during his arrogance, plus considering the logistical support and explosives from several Dusk Colonies,

it wouldn’t have been so easy to overcome.

Even so, Chen Ming only managed to half-dead Yan Xiong; without checking the spaceship, Yan Xiong might have been fully recovered in a few hours.

With Yan Xiong’s capabilities, if facing a city of this Mechanical Race, the entire city might as well be like clay in a child’s hand, to be molded at will.

This is the pinnacle of individual combat power.

Yet this Special Mechanical Race, in its confrontation with the Insect Race, managed to influence the entire surrounding environment with just a single mechanical body, standing its ground against the entire Insect Nest.

This indeed gave Chen Ming a sense of Yan Xiong from before.

Therefore, besides quickly arranging the transportation of this mechanical body to uncover its operational principles,

Chen Ming also considered whether he needed to have the Insect Queen try to create an elite combat individual.

Similar to Yan Xiong, this mechanical body, or the large black Insect Race hunted by the Insect Race that Chen Ming once saw in the genes during Genetic Traceback; its combat power appeared impressive as well.
