Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 611: Chapter 189 Advancement_2

But as long as these Mechanical Race abandon their attack and make the dodging move, it means that the Insect Race did not spit out that Fungal Ball in vain.

Even if the Fungal Ball doesn’t hit, once on the ground, it can restrict the movement of other Mechanical Race, or be directly used to expand the Fungal Mat.

Or it can be reabsorbed by the existing Fungal Mat on the ground, turning into nutrients to continue supplying the next launch of a Fungal Ball for the insects.

Moreover, this type of insect is currently only playing an auxiliary role.

The actual air-killing move is still another new type of insect that appeared later.

It is an insect that Chen Ming discussed with the Insect Queen to manufacture.

It has the appearance of a flying Insect Race similar to the self-explosive insect, but the difference is that it has four pitch-black scythe-shaped limbs and a nimble tail with a sharp blade as well.

Although it may not necessarily cut through White Cloud Steel Armor, cutting through fragile joints is definitely not difficult.

Most importantly, the number of these insects is far more exaggerated than the quantity of the Mechanical Race’s flying mechanical bodies.

When the first of this flying Insect Race appeared on the battlefield, within just three minutes, the sky over the Mechanical Race city was already shrouded in darkness.

This is the reproductive ability of the Insect Queen and the result of Chen Ming nurturing the Insect Queen during this time.

It has to be said that close combat is the most adept ability of the Insect Race.

Even when Chen Ming used Spiritual Energy to deeply repair the Insect Queen, it was the same.

As the flying Insect Race completely seized control of the sky, the Insect Race very quickly cleared all the Mechanical Race flying units that dared fly up.

However, the weaknesses of the Insect Race also immediately became exposed.

Or rather, the weakness of all carbon-based creatures, the fear of fire.

Even if the Insect Race has various means to suppress fire damage, suppression also requires the auxiliary of various environments.

For example, densely packed Insect Race on the ground can share the damage with each other, a large amount of acidic liquid evaporates into non-combustible gas, and the Fungal Mat under the Insect Race can also inhibit the spread of the flames.

All these factors together allow the Insect Race to withstand the Blazing Silkworm’s flame damage on the battle line, enduring the fierce output while dragging the Mechanical Race into combat.

But suppressing the flames does not mean completely ignoring them.

So in the sky, the flames of the Blazing Silkworm can just perform their rightful effect.

This led to the appearance of hundreds of terrifying fire stream flows in the city in an instant.

The Insect Race covering the battlefield sky was instantly cleared out in a large area, revealing the view of space again.

The Insect Queen was also forced to temporarily abandon air supremacy, letting these Insect Race retreat for the time being to find other opportunities.

However, the Mechanical Race did not dare to immediately reoccupy the sky, otherwise the flying Insect Race, which had just withdrawn, would definitely return to the battlefield instantly, chasing down these few flying units of the Mechanical Race.

Even if it means risking massive burning losses from the Blazing Silkworm at the frontline, it does not matter.

The Insect Race can quickly reclaim corpses using the Fungal Mat, but the Mechanical Race cannot do this.

So for this moment, the battlefield returned to pure ground combat.

Although the Insect Queen solved the trouble in the sky, the problems on the ground did not decrease.

The invisible units of the Mechanical Race continued to infiltrate the insect swarms for assassinations.

Even if some were thoroughly left behind due to the quick response of the Insect Race, they couldn’t stop more invisible units from continuing to appear, assassinating the fragile long-range output Insect Race, causing explosions that affected other insects upon their death.

Even though the Fungal Mat absorbed the dead insects as soon as they could, it was impossible to completely prevent the unstable Liquid Energy Crystal from exploding.

And there was another issue.

The Blazing Silkworms on the frontline were also gradually becoming troublesome.

Although the flames they spray were indeed ineffective against the Insect Race with various methods.

But as the Blazing Silkworms kept using fire weapons, the heat emitting from the Blazing Silkworms’ bodies continued to increase.

This high heat harbored within the steel, during close contact, could cause difficult-to-suppress injuries to the Insect Race’s bodies.

And the size of the Blazing Silkworms means they are not limited to just long-range attacks; their close combat abilities are also quite outstanding.

With the cooperation of these two factors, the frontline soldiers charging at the Blazing Silkworms almost found it impossible to gain an advantage.

However, the Insect Queen quickly thought of a solution to these two problems.

Originally, because of the condition of the Insect Race itself, it wasn’t necessary to use spores for propagation on the Fungal Mat, and spores reappeared.

Moreover, they were controlled by the Insect Queen to actively rise, covering the entire battlefield and being carried by more insects, continuously spreading around.

Countless purple spots are incredibly prominent in the environment filled with twisted flames and continuously disturbed acidic gases.

Of course, being conspicuous is not the main purpose; in this chaotic battlefield, being conspicuous is useless.

What the Insect Queen intended to do was to make these fungi the sensory organs extending out from the Insect Race around them.

Any Mechanical Race that wanted to engage the Insect Race would inevitably touch these fungi, and once touched, these fungi would immediately stick to the target, transmitting positioning pheromones in real-time to the surrounding Insect Race.

The invisible units of the Mechanical Race were no exception.

Previously, they were able to come and go freely in the insect swarm because of their mobility that roamed freely across the battlefield and their stealth which couldn’t be precisely locked.

When they found an opportunity to step on the Fungal Mat, the interception was already inevitable.
