Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 607: Chapter 188: Raid_2

The entire body burst apart, leaving only the brain, the carrier of the Insect Queen’s consciousness, still twitching at the original spot.

But this didn’t mean failure; it was a part of the deep maintenance process.

The shattered flesh of the Insect Race was rewoven under the influence of Chen Ming’s spiritual energy.

Masses of ineffective gene fragments, possibly remnants from ancient times, were all cleared by Chen Ming’s spiritual energy.

All gene fragments that held no significance for the race were also excised.

This restored the Insect Queen’s originally somewhat bloated genes to a state of simplicity.

Of course, Chen Ming couldn’t understand everything before him; he could only see the Insect Queen’s exploded body continuously secreting pitch-black rancid fluid.

It was the Insect Queen’s consciousness transmitting in real-time to Chen Ming the effect his spiritual energy had on the Insect Queen.

And as the remaining body tissues expelled the fluid, they gradually adhered back together under the pull of the mycelium that had already become part of the Insect Race, restoring their original state.

Before Chen Ming’s spiritual power was depleted, he received the last consciousness transmission from the Insect Queen, stating that through the consumption of spiritual fungi, the spiritual energy gained was further enhanced.

It was at this point that Chen Ming understood the effect of the Insect Queen’s spiritual energy.

A simple and brutal ability to enhance physical qualities through spiritual energy.

And this spiritual energy was not embedded in the Insect Queen alone but rested upon the hive mind of the entire Insect Nest.

The hive mind is the brain of the Insect Race, so it makes complete sense for the spiritual energy to nest within the Hive Mind Network.

Chen Ming instantly followed this train of thought to figure out a possibility.

But he was quickly interrupted by his exhausted spiritual power, and he fell into a coma.

When Chen Ming awoke.

He saw that the scale of the Insect Nest, which had already developed on the planet under his control, was reduced by a whole quarter.

All the vanished insects had been absorbed and devoured by the Insect Queen last night to complete this deep maintenance process.

After this process was over, the Insect Queen did not immediately begin updating the individual Insect Race but transferred consciousness to another shell to continue achieving Chen Ming’s set objectives.

Until a week later, today.

At this moment, Chen Ming, who was at the Supreme Point of one of the five cruisers in space, was observing the full layout of the Mechanical Race colonies through the scanning array.

This scene was something only he could see, as he hadn’t granted Bai Quan access to real-time broadcasting.

Some things are better left unexposed until he is ready.

Bai Quan, of course, understood this rationale, knowing there were many secrets about Chen Ming that shouldn’t be revealed to others, so he didn’t say much.

He only hoped that Chen Ming would send him a video later on, providing him with the parts he could view.

This request was something Chen Ming could certainly fulfill, and indeed he needed Bai Quan’s teachings on command.

Just a little editing to include what can be shown in the video when the time comes would be enough.

For instance, right now, before the Insect Race set out, the images recorded by the Supreme Point scanning array showed the appearance of the Mechanical Race city.

The city itself was almost the same as before, with only some minor developments, yet there didn’t seem to be a sense of impending doom.

However, this being said, attacking would still be quite troublesome.

After all, attacking a city with complete defensive facilities is inherently a risky endeavor, but the substantial underlying benefits compelled Chen Ming to proceed.

To attack such a city, there are three routes.

By air, by ground, and underground.

The aerial approach was immediately dismissed by Chen Ming.

Because the Insect Race, as the primary means of siege, were not flying creatures, although there were indeed some individuals that could fly, not all could.

Moreover, the aerial space wasn’t a very safe and suitable place for attacks until Chen Ming fully occupied the space orbital defense facilities and potential reinforcements that might come later.

The remaining methods were ground and underground.

The underground approach was also ruled out.

Because Chen Ming was well aware of the Mechanical Race’s city, and he had verified his understanding through the Supreme Point’s scan.

The entire underground area of the Mechanical Race’s city was a seamless blend of high-strength steel pillars and plates, bearing the weight of the entire city.

Unless the Insect Race possessed the power to overturn a city directly, attacking from underground was not a wise choice.

Of course, Chen Ming also considered hollowing out the soil and rock layers beneath the entire Mechanical Race city, causing the entire city to sink underground.

But through Chen Ming’s knowledge of the Mechanical Race he controls, it was clear the Mechanical Race had countermeasures for subterranean attacks.

Relying on the Mechanical Race city itself to generate powerful vibrations against deep underground.

Based on the performance of relevant equipment Chen Ming found in his city.

Even the current Insect Race couldn’t withstand the Mechanical Race’s approach of using the city as a weapon, and with a slight mistake, they could be shaken to death.

So, there was only one route left to take — a frontal assault.

Although this was the most challenging path, Chen Ming believed that the Insect Queen, after numerous evolutions and enhancements through spiritual energy, would not disappoint him.

After the cruisers reached the designated combat position, Chen Ming sent a message to the Insect Queen to begin actions.

And he himself started this battle from space, which he instigated personally.

Five cruisers simultaneously entered warp state, and within a few seconds, appeared on the orbital track of the Mechanical Race’s colonized planet, positioning themselves among the orbital defense systems.
