Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 630: Chapter 194 Thoughts

”Spiritual weapons, huh...”

Chen Ming frankly doesn’t know much about spiritual weapons.

But he can clearly sense that the Emperor’s Flame Cannon is a rather peculiar kind of spiritual weapon.

Chen Ming had always thought that.

Spiritual weapons were either purely auxiliary, providing enhancements to a Psychic’s spiritual energy use without any intrinsic performance beyond what’s typical for the weapon itself.

For example, his revolver called ”Ming” by the designer only serves to assist his spiritual energy use, with no difference in attack performance compared to an ordinary revolver.

Otherwise, there are those that Chen Ming saw on that website Bai Quan showed him for weapon registration.

The spiritual weapons left by deceased Psychics are uniquely theirs, capable of matching the user’s spiritual energy to demonstrate effects.

Or, something like the Mind Pulse Generator.

This is a device designed to directly attack lifeforms using spiritual energy fluctuations, which can also be considered a spiritual weapon.

But the Emperor’s Flame Cannon is different from these types.

It uses spiritual materials to construct a mechanical structure capable of achieving spiritual effects that were otherwise hard to realize.

After all, the Emperor’s Flame Cannon is just a cannon about thirty meters long.

And to be able to frequently fire projectiles with an explosive diameter close to a kilometer with such dimensions is clearly achieved through the mechanical structure built with spiritual materials inside it.

Normally, such a weapon size could easily be a one-time use device given the Empire’s current technological level.

Chen Ming could probably achieve it too if he casually learned some related technologies.

However, within this size constraint, to make it fire multiple times, frequently, with minimal cooling time, by a mechanical body only the size of two basic civilian frigates stacked together.

And if you also limit the use of his spiritual energy, the difficulty would be entirely different.

The long-term cooling issues, continuous energy supply issues, recoil issues, and various necessary miniaturization problems for weapons of this size.

All of these are problems.

Moreover, normally, many of these problems are not solvable simply by substituting materials based on their properties.

Rather, they are problems fundamentally deemed impossible to solve by physical laws.

But evidently, this Emperor’s Flame Cannon is not ordinary.

And spiritual energy itself is extraordinary.

So all the problems that should have appeared with the Emperor’s Flame Cannon did not appear, all solved by spiritual energy.

Moreover, Chen Ming can tell that this weapon not only exploits the inherent properties of spiritual materials.

Its design clearly takes advantage of the special mechanical structure constructed from spiritual materials, enabling originally rigid materials to exhibit effects akin to a Psychic using spiritual energy.

And a more special point is.

The Mechanical Race relies on a hive network built with spiritual energy, not because they inherently master the use of spiritual energy.

So in a sense, it means allowing ordinary people to accomplish what only Psychics could do.

Chen Ming found that he seemed to have found his future major research direction from this weapon.

Spiritual materials through special structures can achieve many things normal weapons can’t.

And Chen Ming’s spiritual energy can also enable weapons to do things they normally can’t.

The combination of these two will certainly have even more excellent performance.

Although Chen Ming’s current technical level is still at the cruiser stage, and his systematic understanding of spiritual energy is almost nonexistent, purely groping his way here today.

He’s got no problem using spiritual energy himself, but really researching and systematically manufacturing spiritual weapons is just a thought for now.

Even with the Emperor’s Flame Cannon right in front of him, he can only comprehend the actual effect.

The structure built from spiritual materials within it is completely beyond his understanding, not to mention understanding the principle and designing new spiritual weapons based on it.

However, Chen Ming is not in a hurry to give up.

He understands his progress very well, and as long as he is given time, he will surely master this knowledge one day.

This Emperor’s Flame Cannon is not just a weapon for when the Purgatory Demon King needs it from Chen Ming.

It’s also the best reference for Chen Ming’s future research on spiritual weapons.

The Purgatory Demon King has only the Purgatory Core and the Emperor’s Flame Cannon of special value.

Aside from some accompanying heat control devices, there’s nothing particularly special.

After all, it is still a ground unit, incomparable to true technological crystallizations, the battleships.

Just like the army can’t compare with the navy.

Of course, Chen Ming refers to the Mechanical Race’s battleships.

Although he’s only seen a few ordinary Mechanical Race cruisers.

Since the Mechanical Race has special Mechanical Race ground units like the Purgatory Demon King, it can be inferred that they have some equally special battleship units.

And if large battleship weapons, or even main weapons, also have things akin to the Emperor’s Flame Cannon, or even similar to the Purgatory Core, or Low-Temperature Computing Engine.

That truly would be terrifying.

If Chen Ming decides to control those Mechanical Race, then these things will surely be encountered sooner or later.
