Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 635: Chapter 195 Phase Space_2

Before Old Wu had a chance to finish speaking, the terminal on Chen Ming suddenly rang.

A call from the factory director.

Chen Ming answered casually and immediately heard the director’s voice: ”Xiao Ming, I heard you’re back. Could you come to my office?”

”Sure.”

Chen Ming agreed, shrugged at Old Wu, and then got up and headed toward the bar’s exit.

But before he took two steps, he suddenly remembered something, turned back with a smile at Old Wu, and said, ”Almost forgot.”

Chen Ming dug into the backpack he had been carrying since stepping off the spaceship, then took out something green and jelly-like, stored in a refrigerated box, and handed it to Old Wu.

Old Wu took it casually and asked, ”What’s this?”

”A local specialty from outside, tastes pretty good.”

Old Wu, though always investigating various information, didn’t have much understanding of the almost endangered food of the Thorn Insect Race.

Even if one could say part of the reason the Space Station where Chen Ming previously stayed was destroyed was due to the Insect Race.

Knowing what kind of creatures the Insect Race are is sufficient; a deeper investigation was really unnecessary.

It was only because Chen Ming happened to see Insect Glue and had access to the Insect Race, that he learned what food ordinary members of the Insect Race normally eat.

Old Wu obviously wouldn’t go out of his way to do so.

That’s why he didn’t know what Chen Ming had just given him.

Seeing Old Wu’s puzzled look, Chen Ming just waved his hand and said, ”I need to see the factory director anyway, I’ll deliver some to him too then.”

”If you want more, come find me. I have some more on hand.”

Watching Chen Ming turn and leave the bar, Old Wu stroked his chin, opened the refrigerated box, and recalled Chen Ming’s seemingly sly smile from earlier.

But he figured the food couldn’t be that bad, so he took a bite of the Insect Glue, showing an unexpectedly surprised expression, and soon finished the whole thing.

After staying in the bar for another ten minutes or so, Old Wu clutched his stomach and ran into the bar’s bathroom.

Of course, Chen Ming had no idea that Old Wu had also very fortunately become part of that 0.2%.

He had now just arrived at the administration building and entered the director’s office.

There, Chen Ming saw the people from Sinda Corporation again.

The factory director spread his hands and said, ”They said they came to give you money, so I called you over.”

Upon hearing this, the people from Sinda Corporation immediately handed a card held at the corners to Chen Ming and said, ”Mr. Chen Ming, here is your first payment of the patent fee. The antimatter engines have already started mass production and extensive testing.”

Although Chen Ming was already aware of this, he played along by saying, ”So soon?”

”Yes, it seems the antimatter engine is currently the most promising technology in the Empire, and many people are awaiting the results of this round of extensive testing.”

”If the results are good, antimatter technology will be widely promoted throughout the Empire, possibly leading to another technological boom.”

”I see.”

Chen Ming nodded slightly, realizing the importance of the antimatter engine was indeed greater than he imagined.

His decision to retain the patent for the antimatter engine was indeed the right one.

Chen Ming casually inserted the card into his terminal, and upon seeing the 30 billion inside, his breathing became slightly heavier.

This sum was more than he imagined.

After all, the patent for antimatter technology wasn’t solely owned by him; other researchers and companies actually hold a larger share of the patent rights.

Receiving 30 billion was already an unexpected joy, not to mention the representatives from Sinda Corporation mentioned that this was just the first installment, with more to come later.

So Chen Ming gladly accepted this sum, which could relieve him of pressure for quite some time.

Seeing that Chen Ming confirmed the status of the savings card and showed no dissatisfaction, the representative from Sinda Corporation bowed to Chen Ming and said, ”Then I won’t disturb you any longer. Goodbye, Mr. Chen Ming.”

With that, he left the office decisively.

”Uh...”

Chen Ming stared blankly at the office door that had just closed.

He thought Sinda Corporation intended to take this opportunity to have a chat with him, but they left just like that.

They could have just transferred the money directly to his card; he had no idea why they had to make a trip in person.

But since they were gone, Chen Ming didn’t dwell on it. He turned and sat in front of the factory director’s desk.

The factory director casually handed Chen Ming a cup of tea and asked, ”How long are you planning to stay this time?”

Chen Ming took a sip of tea and replied, ”The situation outside is good. My presence or absence doesn’t make much difference.”

”So I plan to stay a couple of days at the Space Station and get some things done.”

Though as the exploration progress of the temporary base increases, the Supreme Point is almost always needed to fly outside, pioneering routes.

However, Chen Ming was aware of this, so during the week of preparations before attacking the Mechanical Race city, he intentionally had the Supreme Point work tirelessly day and night to open up new routes.

These routes should be enough to support the low-level starships of Dusk in future explorations for more than half a month.

This period of absence shouldn’t pose any issue.

Moreover, he indeed found it incredibly boring outside.

The initial thrill of pioneering was gone, and day by day it became increasingly dull and tedious.

After all, in terms of pioneering, Chen Ming was only providing Spiritual Power, which he could do from anywhere. So he might as well move around and do some other things.

The factory director, upon understanding this, didn’t continue to press Chen Ming on what he planned to do. Instead, he just said, ”Let me know if you need any help.”
