Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 616: Chapter 190 Purgatory_3

Especially the fungal mat in contact with the metal surface inside the Mechanical Race city.

The fungal mat advancing with the Insect Race spread forward, gradually withered, dehydrated, and deactivated under the heat that could cause an entire district to begin to warm, eventually igniting.

Even though the Insect Queen constantly increased the nutritional supply to the fungal mat, it could only just balance the growth rate of the fungi with the rate of loss.

If the supply of nutrients were slightly delayed, the fungal mat would instantly be burned to ashes by the high temperature conducted from the metal, no longer able to provide continuous nourishment for the Insect Race at the front line.

This was not just a trouble blocking the Insect Race from advancing further.

Beyond these high temperatures already impacting the environment on a large scale, some Mechanical Race buildings not made of White Cloud Steel Alloy even began melting.

This Mechanical Race itself was destroying the Mechanical Race city.

As the temperature disseminated by the Mechanical Race continued to rise, some structures cast from White Cloud Steel also began to melt in this extreme heat.

Burning flames and molten metal nearly covered the path it traveled and the Insect Race it was about to meet head-on.

It created a scene akin to a purgatory.

Moreover, this Mechanical Race itself had a gigantic cannon, almost as long as its body, mounted on its back, with an appearance similar to an electromagnetic cannon.

Chen Ming had already witnessed the power of the centipede’s weapon, and this clearly was a very special Mechanical Race individual carrying a giant cannon, definitely a terrifying weapon for ground combat.

Although Chen Ming hadn’t interacted much with the Mechanical Race, since his increased contact with Dusk, he deliberately sought to understand knowledge and information related to the neighboring Mechanical Race, thus he had some understanding of them.

Yet, the Mechanical Race that appeared before the Insect Race now was something Chen Ming had never seen, never understood, nor found any similar existence in any of the materials he researched.

But Chen Ming was clear about one thing: this Mechanical Race certainly possessed technology truly surpassing this era.

A mechanical body, over just forty meters, emitted heat capable of affecting the surrounding city environment.

Although not the entire city, and the city of the Mechanical Race itself was primarily composed of metal, very conducive to heat conduction.

But for a forty-meter-sized body to warm a coverage range of dozens of kilometers to this extent was absolutely beyond what modern technology could achieve.

There was definitely powerful single-soldier technology left over from that civilization in this.

Even though Chen Ming only needed to deploy a large weapon from any of the five space Cruisers, using a single Speed Particle Spear to completely resolve this issue.

But after witnessing the performance of this Mechanical Race, he wanted more.

Moreover, landing operations would not always have the opportunity like now to directly use space weapons for ground attacks at a lower level.

Acquiring such a special Mechanical Race was also considerably beneficial to him.

So, after observing the impact brought by this mechanical body.

It and the Cruiser from the city’s core behind it.

Chen Ming wanted them all.

Therefore, without waiting for the Insect Queen to take action itself, the scanning array on the already descending Supreme Point directly activated at full power, attempting to find a weak point in this Mechanical Race to swiftly resolve it.

However, when this array capable of scanning the entire planet scanned this Mechanical Race, the result came back pitch black.

Aside from the external armor and some exposed structures that could be scanned, the rest of this Mechanical Race seemed to be covered with some special protective material, rendering the scanning array unable to penetrate.

But this was somewhat expected.

Chen Ming could still analyze from some surface details scanned that this Mechanical Race seemed to be a temporarily activated mechanical body by the Mechanical Race.

Many maintenance details had problems, clearly lacking proper care.

And combat equipment and weapons lacking maintenance and care often encounter problems during prolonged use.

Perhaps the only flaw of this Mechanical Race was insufficient maintenance, unable to engage in long-term combat.

It seemed that only by relying on the sheer number of Insect Queens, sacrificing a large number of Insect Race individuals, could it be forced into a malfunction.

Upon receiving Chen Ming’s order to attempt capturing this mechanical body, the Insect Queen’s choice aligned exactly with Chen Ming’s thoughts, commanding the Insect Race to continue their charge.

But just as the insects had a new intense commotion.

The giant cannon on the back of the Mechanical Race activated.

Surrrounding heat suddenly converged towards the giant cannon in a manner defying physical laws.

The cannon barrel emitted a scorching red glow, while the side wings of the cannon body fiercely expelled currents carrying extreme high temperatures.

The orange-red laser beam fired by its targeting device posed such a threat that all the insect swarms, even without the direction of the Insect Queen, seemed to be extremely stimulated and scrambled forward desperately.

But before the Insect Race could reach the Mechanical Race, the cannon had already fired.

At the moment it fired, the whole city seemed to sink deeper into darkness.

All the light was absorbed by that giant cannon.

In the blink of an eye, an area nearly a kilometer in diameter in front of that Mechanical Race was occupied by a fireball visible only as a dazzling flash.
