Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 602: Chapter 187: A New Insect Race

Bai Quan said without any hesitation, ”Of course the Antimatter Reactor counts.”

”But back then there was no choice, if you didn’t bring something powerful, a giant shipyard wouldn’t be that easy to take.”

”Anyway, even if you really took the Antimatter Reactor in the end, as long as you don’t flaunt it everywhere, it’s fine.”

Chen Ming blinked; he suddenly realized that Bai Quan seemed unaware that he had the technology patent for the Antimatter Reactor.

But he didn’t bring it up proactively.

Moreover, although Bai Quan didn’t say it directly, if all the special operations team members had died, the issue of what to do with the Antimatter Reactor probably wasn’t a difficult problem to solve.

However, just as Bai Quan finished speaking, he suddenly brought up a topic he had been mentioning from time to time lately.

”If you’re interested in these experimental things, why not join us?”

”You know our Fourteenth Legion has many self-developed improved models of spaceships.”

”I can make a direct decision to bring you into our research institute, give you access to these spaceship blueprints, and even if you haven’t mastered these technologies yet, you can get early exposure.”

”And there’s a new type of spaceship about to be released, still in the testing phase; I can figure out a way to get one for you.”

Bai Quan habitually recruited Chen Ming, but he habitually refused, ”I still don’t like being restricted, at least until I decide my own decisions have failed and then consider going back.”

But despite rejecting, Chen Ming was still very interested in the new type of spaceship Bai Quan mentioned and asked, ”So, can you give me some idea about the capabilities of the spaceship you’re talking about?”

Bai Quan immediately felt somewhat speechless at the moment when Chen Ming heard his words just now.

But he also knew the concept of risking a child to catch a wolf.

Reveal a little of what can be revealed, there will always be a day when Chen Ming truly takes the bait.

Bai Quan thought for a moment and said, ”Previously, when you were still at Dusk, the main base of Dusk sent that piece of equipment to the Dusk Star Zone in the Gallo Star Realm.”

”The technology used in transporting the equipment is similar to the technology our new spaceship uses. This thing directly traversed the entire Empire, and we couldn’t intercept it at all.”

Chen Ming had previously learned from someone in contact with the Fourteenth Legion that the main base at Dusk had sent a piece of equipment to the Gallo Star Realm, but the specific transport method and route were unclear.

Unexpectedly, it turned out to cross through the Empire directly.

If it’s really as Bai Quan said...

Is it really just a matter of being unable to intercept it?

Perhaps it’s impossible to even lock onto it.

This thought suddenly flashed through Chen Ming’s mind.

Because if intercepting was only the issue, something crossing the Empire would definitely be surrounded by a bunch of military fleets, escorted all the way to the Gallo Star Realm.

Once the item reached its destination and was received by Dusk, they’d then conveniently wipe out all the nearby Dusk, and take the item away.

It wouldn’t even require Chen Ming to help provide feedback on his previous location at Dusk.

But if it can’t even be captured in terms of location, invisible to the eye, then Bai Quan’s words make sense.

The previous instance where the Fourteenth Legion could only provide a rough delivery date for the equipment makes sense now.

This is indeed a unique technology.

If that’s the case, the new spaceship Bai Quan mentioned seems pretty impressive.

A spaceship that can’t be locked or intercepted by normal means—what would it look like?

Chen Ming’s curiosity was piqued by Bai Quan’s words, so he asked, ”Since there’s a new spaceship coming out, it means this technology wasn’t just recently started research on, right?”

”So why couldn’t it be intercepted before? And you couldn’t even locate it.”

Bai Quan wasn’t surprised that Chen Ming correctly deduced some situations he hadn’t mentioned at all.

”Because this technology was initially researched in the direction of spacecraft, which meant less research was done in other areas.”

”And as I just said, it’s about to have a new spaceship, not that it already exists, so...”

”I can’t say more, let’s talk about your other matters, regarding the Mechanical Race.”

”Alright.”

Chen Ming also knew there were things he wasn’t in a position to know, so he played along and didn’t continue to ask, waiting for Bai Quan’s next words.

Bai Quan seemed to be reminiscing, and after a while, he said, ”Even though I’ve been fighting against Dusk for a long time, I’ve also tangled with the Mechanical Race.”

”The warfare style of the Mechanical Race is quite similar to humans, being complicated and variable, adapting different tactics based on the enemy.”

”So, experience alone doesn’t suffice; you need to analyze based on the actual situation.”

”Of course, it doesn’t matter if you don’t have experience.”

”But one thing is consistent, the Mechanical Race will absolutely fight to the death and won’t retreat when engaged with humans, fighting until they are incapable.”

”And they are not like Dusk; Dusk captures humans to trade for something with us.”

”But the Mechanical Race will just kill everyone.”

”Don’t show any mercy to the Mechanical Race, at least until they are completely defeated.”

Bai Quan’s words seemed to have a hidden intent, but Chen Ming kept silent, nodding to accept Bai Quan’s advice.

”Also, you’re dealing with a Mechanical Race colony, so ground combat will also be an issue.”
