Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 609: Chapter 188: Raid_4

For example, those worm-like creatures that are half-buried in the ground.

Chen Ming initially thought of having the Insect Queen evolve to spray corrosive liquid, or directly expel Insect Race blood to interfere with the Mechanical Race, functioning as a long-range unit for the Insect Race in warfare.

Yet, instead, the Insect Queen, with Chen Ming’s knowledge and its understanding of various natural biological materials, liquefied the Energy Crystals and formulated a dangerous liquid similar to the explosive effects of Zuo Jing’s explosives.

Although these creatures are fragile and indeed dangerous, their numbers are not large.

Even in actual combat, they could, with continuous nutritional supply and manufacturing of Liquid Energy Crystals, assist the insect swarm in breaking through the defense circles within the Mechanical Race city like a hot knife through butter.

However, the Mechanical Race isn’t just standing around idly.

The continuous breakthroughs of several defense lines both on the outskirts and within the city did take some time, allowing the Mechanical Race to finally organize a decent resistance.

As various combat units of the Mechanical Race arrived from different parts of the city to the direction of the Insect Race’s attack, the momentum of the Insect Race’s assault steadily faced setbacks, and the losses began to multiply instantly.

Especially a flying mechanical unit of the Mechanical Race.

It resembled the Flying Mantis Chen Ming had seen before, but was more lightweight, capable of prolonged flight in the sky.

After it occupied the strategic high ground of the battlefield, the flying units of the Insect Race found it difficult to break through their sniping.

At the same time, it was also challenging to counterattack them.

Moreover, with the emergence of these flying mechanical bodies, Chen Ming noticed that some optical stealth combat mechanical units also appeared on the battlefield.

They lurked at the battlefield margins, and once they spotted an opportunity, they would penetrate the depths of the Insect Nest like specters, assassinating the ejecting worms within the swarm that posed the greatest threat to the Mechanical Race.

Once they killed one, they would immediately unleash mobility more terrifying than the Flying Mantis, instantly retreating from the battlefield.

Leaving behind only a carcass on the verge of explosion.

With these two types of mechanical bodies gradually influencing the battlefield situation.

The Blazing Silkworms Chen Ming had previously seen also appeared at the battlefront.

However, seeing them, Chen Ming actually felt a sense of relief.

These Blazing Silkworms measured approximately ten meters each, radiating intense heat waves and a searing red light when activating their weapons.

Like a giant blistering red iron crashing toward the Insect Race, they simultaneously activated their flamethrower mode designed for close combat.

But just as Chen Ming had foreseen.

When the nearly hundred-meter-long flame was engulfing the Insect Race, massive amounts of blood would actively seep from between the Insect Race’s shell gaps, extinguishing the flames while releasing thick acidic mist.

It doesn’t affect the Insect Race’s visibility, but it does impact the oxygen content in the air, decreasing combustion efficiency.

The Insect Race can survive in space, in vacuum environments, where breathable air is not an issue for them.

Moreover, the fungal mat beneath the Insect Race also undergoes changes when scorched by flames.

The fungus morphs into a viscous fluid-like state similarly witnessed when the Insect Queen first Awoke from its cocoon, significantly reducing fire damage.

Moreover, when the fire from the Blazing Silkworm, mixed with fuel, fell on the fungal mat.

The fungal mat could even directly absorb these accelerants and digest them.

Just like the Rigid Digestion Pouch of the Insect Queen digests various peculiar foods.

The fungal mat on the ground inherited this ability from the Insect Queen.

These elements combined resulted in the flames inflicting less than a third of the damage that the Insect Queen had endured while attacking another Mechanical Race city in the past.

However, aside from this close-range flamethrower mode, the Blazing Silkworms also have another capability that Chen Ming had also witnessed—a collective powerful artillery barrage.

This city of the Mechanical Race is still in its developmental phase, but splits of Blazing Silkworms do exist.

As the frontline Blazing Silkworms suffered losses in battle.

A sudden, sharp, interwoven screech echoed across the sky.
