Space Odyssey from Abandoned Mining Space Station

Chapter 619: Chapter 191 Trap_2

Although their final outcome was about the same, and not too good.

Yan Xiong was rolled into a ball by Chen Ming and used as an alloy melting furnace, and the Special Mechanical Body was just kidnapped by Chen Ming.

That pitch-black Insect Race eventually ended up in the belly of the Thorn Insect Race, becoming part of their genes today.

But their performance was indeed impressive and worthy of research.

Chen Ming thought he could give it a try.

But not now, because he still had things to do.

The ground combat was won the moment Chen Ming discovered the weakness of the Special Mechanical Race.

On the ground, only a few scattered Mechanical Races were engaged in an utterly unorganized desperate resistance.

However, the third batch of Mechanical Race reinforcements was definitely on its way; although it would take time for them to arrive, it wouldn’t be too long.

Chen Ming needed to speed up the cleanup of the Mechanical Race and complete the final wrapping-up work.

At the same time, sort out his spoils and retreat as soon as possible.

Otherwise, he would surely be overwhelmed by the endless reinforcements of the Mechanical Race coming in.

Chen Ming definitely didn’t want to experience again the situation where the Special Mechanical Body was continuously attacked by the Insect Race just now.

But at this moment, another unexpected event occurred for Chen Ming.

The Mechanical Race still resisting suddenly completely abandoned the defense of this city and chose to retreat.

Leaving the city from the opposite side of the Insect Race’s direction of attack.

And under the intensified offensive of the Insect Race facing the retreating Mechanical Race, those Mechanical Races who could no longer escape the city and fought desperately also began to be defeated.

The Mechanical Race seemed to have completely abandoned this city.

The sense of alert in Chen Ming’s heart instantly rose to the extreme.

He was contemplating whether this could be a trap left by the Mechanical Race.

The Mechanical Race had been on the planet for at least half a year, so leaving some contingencies elsewhere was too normal.

But even if it’s a trap, there are some things he must do; otherwise, there would be no point in him being here.

Chen Ming made up his mind, immediately controlling the Supreme Point, which had started descending earlier and was now approaching the ground, and the Defender protecting the Supreme Point to gradually approach the Mechanical Race’s city, preparing to land.

Preparing to take those Mechanical Races kidnapped by a large wave of Insect Race that had split off since the core area of the city was breached by the Insect Race moments ago.

On the battlefield’s front and the city’s core area, there were Blazing Silkworms and Special Mechanical Race individuals that could raise the environmental temperature, suppressing the Insect Race’s parasites.

But the Mechanical Race on the city’s outskirts did not receive such favorable treatment.

With the spread of fungi, they could easily control the Mechanical Races in large numbers.

Although the Insect Race, unlike Dusk, couldn’t directly integrate the controlled Mechanical Bodies into Chen Ming’s Spiritual Energy control, it still saved quite a bit of trouble.

As the Defender and Supreme Point split up and landed in the city’s outer area, they prepared to aid in transporting these controlled Mechanical Bodies.

Another trace of a warp appeared in space.

However, this wasn’t Dusk’s third wave of reinforcements, but traces of the Giant Level cargo ship that Chen Ming had previously seized from Dusk warping in.

A special Cruiser Level cargo ship was the mainstay for transporting these controlled Mechanical Races.

The Brilliant, though still on guard in space, was also assisting in managing the transportation of the Mechanical Race down below, just as before.

Seeing that the city’s outskirts no longer needed his attention, Chen Ming shifted his focus back to the Supreme Point he was piloting.

Preparing to land in the city center to capture the Mechanical Race’s cruiser.

With the Mechanical Race’s defense gone and all its weapons lost, the cruiser was just a lamb awaiting slaughter.

Moreover, even though the Mechanical Race had fled, Chen Ming still gave the Insect Queen a new target to continue tracking those retreating Mechanical Races.

First, let the Insect Race help him step on any traps the Mechanical Race might have left, anyway, as long as the Insect Queen was safe, the loss of any other single Insect Race, or even all of them except the Insect Queen, was insignificant.

Secondly, it was to capture as many Mechanical Races as possible.

After all, those that escaped were the ones that could hold out until the end, the backbone of the Mechanical Race’s ground forces.

Catching these Mechanical Races would surely yield greater benefits than capturing ordinary logistic Mechanical Bodies.

It was at this moment that Chen Ming realized the Insect Race actually had the ability to precisely track the Mechanical Race.

Even though many Mechanical Races had already left the city and were fleeing across the desolate planet, the Insect Queen could still accurately mark every individual Mechanical Race, allowing Insect Race units to capture them.

The reason the Insect Race could do this seemed to point to a deep pit inside the Mechanical Race’s colony.

It certainly wasn’t the pit blown up by the Special Mechanical Body just now, but a pit originally dug by the Mechanical Race itself.

This pit resembled a water storage reservoir of a sewage treatment plant, but the liquid it contained was all a gray-green color similar to Insect Race blood.

These things...

Chen Ming suddenly remembered that these gray-green liquids were all pollutants produced when the nanobots inside the Mechanical Race bodies were working.

He recalled reading in several research reports on the Mechanical Race that introduced this unique, highly diffusible, and considerably toxic pollution produced by the Mechanical Race.

A little bit was fine, like those few Mechanical Races Chen Ming encountered on Rimu Star, they produced pollution in quantities that could be said to be negligible.
